What's new?
The main goal of this release has been performance. 10.11.0 dropped a major backend rewrite, and while it was broadly functional, it had a lot of rough edges.
This release seeks to polish out most of those rough edges and bring better performance to all users.
There are many other small fixes, improvements, changes, and translations. See our draft release notes here or below for the full list of pull requests.

🍿 New Jellyfin-For-Xbox Release 0.9.5 🎮️
With the new version 0.9.5 we fixed a number of issues related to HDR and DolbyVision content as well as a more refined design cleaning up a lot of UX that were previously problematic on different resolutions but also now support translations. Further we are now allowing logfile upload directly from the app for the last 5 logfiles. Additionally the login UI now also supports ServerDiscovery.

ah, that would do it. The Apple TV client still needs to be updated for that functionality. It's been a long road because it's definitely more specialized than our Android/Android TV effort. There's no updated build for Apple TV just yet, only iOS/iPadOS. I'll make sure to add another vote to the feature request though.

The first pass with subtitle extract will take a long time (depending on how much content there is to go through). After that, it will just run on new content only (much faster).

3. there is a setting to disable transcoding entirely, by user account. But you may run into issues otherwise. We can definitely help find a method that works. Not all transcoding with ASS/SSA subtitles is bad.

2. Depending on the source media, as per the list above. It is something that is being worked on to have more native players available instead of just the Web UI. That said, there are alternative apps made by the community that may have different/better support. A common name I hear for Android is Findroid, and there are many alternatives on iOS as well.

1. Yes, the criteria is different. It's largely client dependant. We have a very large list here: https://jellyfin.org/docs/general/clients/codec-support
Depending on the CPU you have, you may have transcoding ability without knowing it. It would need a little bit of extra configuration, but it's something we can help with in our chat or forums.

There's two things I can suggest. If you haven't already, install our Subtitle Extract plugin and let it run. The first pass will take a long time (depending on how much content there is to go through). After that, it will just run on new content only (much faster).
The second is to prioritize SRT subtitles wherever you can, but I know that's not always possible.
