Very nice! I recently got me a Kobo Libra Colour and my reading amount has gone up significantly, totally love that device (and am glad that Amazon will never earn a single cent from me for eBooks).
I do notice, though, that a really good page turner novel (I recently read A Deepness In The Sky and really loved it) has the same effect like videogames on me: I tend to devour the thing at every free minute to the detriment of other household tasks that I should be doing while my daughter is sleeping.
For hard books, I think the only way to get through them is to ACTUALLY want to LEARN what they have to say. And in order to learn something, you need to engage and THINK actively. And in order to think actively, you need to WRITE. I'm currently reading all Great Books of the Western World (done with everything up until Plato) and going forward, I will read everything Plato AGAIN, but this time with a pen and a (digital) notebook on the table.

80 makes sense and works very well. Even on large screens we need it because during code reviews you can have the div side by side and during coding you can have 2-4 files open next to each other.
47 sounds insane.
80 works perfectly for phones in landscape mode. Nobody should be reviewing code on the go anyways. Allow your brain to calm down. Work at your desk, not at your phone.

This hits hard. My terminal social media consumption for over 2 decades has definitely killed all my joy to experience the world.
There are no surprises any more, you think you have already seen everything and you think that 90% of everything is just god awful stupidity and misery.
Raising my daughter is what pulled me out of that mindset. Seeing the world through her eyes, almost like having a second chance at being a child again, saved me.

I'm very happy with mine - I don't even care about the blue light nonsense - it simply has the *best* handwriting experience of any tablet I have ever tried (I tried them all).
Only the Kindle Scribe feels even better, but obviously the Kindle operating system is a steaming pile of shit, rendering the amazing hardware basically useless.
If you ever build a DC2, all I would ever want would be a better screen resolution. Reading text through the DC1 is always somewhat blurry, and I'm not even sure if better *resolution* is the key here - I have a suspicion that there is some ragged glass surfaces that creates the blurriness and it is probably that exact surface that creates the amazing paper-like feel when using the stylus.
So my questions are:
1) are you guys aware that the screen looks a bit blurry (I lack a better word, but it clearly is not as crisp as an iPad or real paper or any Kindle)
2) if yes, do you think there are ways to improve this without sacrificing the amazing handwriting feeling?
3) if yes to 2), is it on your roadmap for a future device?
4) bonus question: are you even working on a follow-up hardware or are you purely focused on software updates for the forseeable future?

How much of this time is glancing at the phone while
- sitting on the toilet
- sitting on public transport, commuting to work
- walking somewhere
- waiting somewhere
You can *easily* spend 4hrs with such activities. Basically, many people use their phone during activities that cannot be spent for anything else anyways.
What about people who drive to work and have the phone on for Google Maps? That drives up the screen time.
What about people who take tons of photos of their young children (like me). Drives up screen time.
Those screen time numbers sound unbelievably high - but there are many ways in which they might be inflated - and your suggestion that all that time could be used for something better is most likely wrong because most of the screen time happens during times when no other activity can be pursued.
Of course, during such idle time humans should be *actually idle* and allow the brain to rest instead of bombarding it with dopamine, so those screen time numbers are still horrible no matter what.
