It was hot out in the sun today, so I got tired quickly. Still, it was great to make so many people happy at the protest. A couple with unicorn suits saw me just as I saw them, and we all laughed an ran to each other and 'hugged' briefly. It was so happy.
On the way out, I saw this ballot box and thought it was a perfect photo op for my axolotl self.
Exhausted but happier now.

I've been doing these daily #inkyDays drawings for a long time. Currently in my 9th year, of drawing every day and sharing it online.
I keep thinking that I should do something special for getting to 10 years. So, I've started scanning all of them. Yeah, it's gonna take me a long time.

For today's #inkyDays drawing, I'm using all three of my new inks in a turkey tail mushroom inspired pattern. The 'whale shark grey' ink has an interesting red tone to it when wet, but has a lovely rich grey tone. It plays nicely with the other two.

Playing with a new ink in today's #inkyDays drawing. This ink is called "Bobtail Squid Green, and it's a lovely green. It starts out bright light green when it's wet, and dries into a deeper almost mossy green. Lovely.
I also experimented with drawing some batleth wielding penguins on watercolor paper today.

Starting this month of daily drawings, with a comforting floral patter and a gorgeous ink. I love how this one plays with a diluted blue ink. It produces an almost ultraviolet mix. Yes, I know it's not actually ultraviolet...it looks like how we represent it in color charts.

For communicating locally, here in San Francisco, I want to be better at fluent Spanish.
Globally? I'd like to be better speaking and reading French.
Once I get better at those, I'd like to explore Germanic languages.
I would love to learn Navajo! Or any NM Pueblo language. I am humbled by the brilliance. I don't think I am capable. I wish I was. But I can dream to be.

I don't quite know what to say to someone who is deep in an AI bubble.
My life has been all struggle and learning and building.
To sit next to someone who says " you tell claude what kind of app you want and it build's it for you". This someone has never written code, or knows what a data structure is, let alone when one might work better than another.
And she is making money from this crap.
UGh.!
If only I didn't have ethics or my brain. I could be super rich, if I just turned off.

I used to have some solid Medical Latin. Which helped me when ordering dinner in France and Italy.
But it's not enough. I need to think in another language. More languages.
I might seem to old to do such a thing, but I must learn to think in at least one other language. If I can do one, maybe I can do another?

What are the tools out there for actually learning and practicing languages? I studied French for years, but I am still terrible at it.
I also had some Spanish formal learning, very briefly. I've lived all of my life around folks who spoke Spanish first.
The only reason why I can't speak Spanish as fluently as I speak English? The racism of our grandparents and parents.

I also finished another version of the Minnesota flag pattern. I like this one much better than the last one. I left the overflow unfinished and the whole thing is more circular. Which inspired me to do a floral pattern with the star in the center.

As a woman, it took a lot to be included as one of the New Masters of Flash. I had to be extraordinary. I had to lean into creating Science Visualizations. Combining drawing with code.
And Amazon didn't list me as a co-author. It listed all of the other 10+ male co-authors, but specifically dropped my name and another co-author. Why? Because even back then, they said that tech-books with women's names don't sell as well.
So, I was erased.
Now, Adobe erases Flash/Animate.

Why am I still "covid-cautious"? So many reasons.
1. Covid is not over.
2. The flu is horrific this year.
3. A local high school has closed because of a Tuberculosis outbreak.
4. I'm still a Cancer patient.
5. As a Cancer patient, I regularly spend time in a Cancer hospital. A lot of the people there, many of them small children, are in a more precarious stage of their Cancer treatment.
6. Our current WH doesn't believe in germs or modern medicine...constraining research and vaccines

Ok, I did use a library for this one for some of it, but it's a CSS library: css-doodle. https://css-doodle.com/
I made these flowers with my little "Flowermaker" toy, which uses css-doodle, and saved them as PNG files.

For today's #inkyDays drawing, I'm going with a comforting floral pattern in one of the inks I used for drawing abstract Minnesota flags yesterday.
I've also made progress on drawing a Minnesota flag with my inks. It's much more precise than my usual approach to drawing my hand, but it's getting close...at least for now. Each component is cut out, another difference from my usual drawings.

In solidarity with Minnesota, I'm experimenting with the Minnesota flag as a motif in today's #inkyDays drawing.
I'm also working on a better representation of the flag. Maybe to make stickers to give away? It's a little challenging and freehand isn't working for me. Once I figured out the star, it got easier. Tested a bunch of different inks, and I think I have a good combination now.
I'll post more when I make more progress.

Ok, so yes, my Cancer Tumor is gone. I got lucky, that at the time I had my diagnosis for stage 3 colon cancer my case was border line. I did not go through Chemo. There were new tests that could test for any sign that my tumor had metastisized and spread to other organs. I still get these, and other blood tests and CT scans. Still.
And I'm still working to regain by physical strength, after having been starved by that tumor for years.
I'm still fighting and working to be stronger.

Oh great! More messing with the USPS. Not sure how bad this might turn out, but it doesn't look good.
Here's what the shipping company I use for me shop sent:
"Starting in February, USPS Post Offices will begin auditing packages more strictly for payment before accepting them. As part of this change, USPS representatives will be more diligent about confirming that postage payment has been fully processed at the time of drop-off."
