One of my favorite parts of making the mega @npub1kdx…g08v post about Black Sabbath was scouring Discogs for all these different colorways that have been used for the Master of Reality album cover.
Someone please get me a copy of that alternating rainbow variant.

Pedantic Service Announcement (time edition):
When specifying time in the USA, “EST” stands for “Eastern Standard Time”, which is only really relevant for less than half of the year. During daylight saving time it’s “EDT” for “Eastern Daylight Time”.
When you’re not sure if the time you’re specifying is EST or EDT, just say “ET” or “Eastern Time”, which is a generic way to refer to the time zone, regardless of daylight saving status.
Same goes for Pacific / PST / PDT / PT etc.

“circa” means “approximately”. Don’t use it when giving exact dates.
Before a date, “c.” usually means “circa”, “(c)” means “copyright”, and “ca.” means “circa”.
“i.e.” means “that is” (i.e. “in other words”).
“e.g.” means “for the sake of an example” (i.e. “for example”).
“&” originated as a ligature of “et” which means “and”.
“&c.” and “etc.” are short for “et cetera” which means “and the rest”. “And etc.” is redundant.
“O.G.” means “original gangster”.

I’m not sure if this was the case with you, but I often have to correct people about what they imagine it was like to grow up in a Cape Cod house from the 1780s. Sounds romantic and cozy on paper until you factor in things like woefully weak insulation, absurdly warped flooring, and never-ending issues to upgrade ancient plumbing / electrical / roofing / etc.

I had to do a double-take on that top photo because it looks incredibly similar to the house where I grew up on Cape Cod, built in 1786. The barn out back was used as my dad’s workshop for building/repairing wooden boats.

It’s been a tough year so far but I really find joy in the community here on Mastodon and the larger Fediverse.
There’s a satisfying DIY punk rock feeling to it all, as if I’m sticking it to dystopian billionaires every time I boost someone’s Mastodon post or fave someone’s Pixelfed image or try out some new Fedi app or follow some interesting stranger on some weird platform I’ve never heard of but can still interact with because it’s federated.
It’s what the internet is supposed to feel like.

I’m a big fan of @npub1svp…js2d’s Blacklight tool for checking the user-tracking tech on any website. Seeing all the trackers used on the sites you use and love the most can be a sobering experience.

One under-appreciated use of the tool is for checking your own website for trackers you might not even know exist in your code. It helped me uncover and remove some unwanted Google tracking code hidden in a JavaScript file for an old project recently.

I always had issues when photographing typographic material with the standard iPhone Camera app because Apple’s native image processing algorithms tend to be too aggressive with sharpening text and adjusting contrast.
@npub198r…unah’s new Process Zero mode is a welcome alternative for capturing images without all the auto-magic A.I. processing.
I made a test to compare the differences …
With default Apple processing:
