Got two packages that seem to not exist on #Debian testing but exist just fine in #Gentoo. I was always under the impression the Debian repos are pretty huge, but lately they feel kinda lackluster.
Has Debian started to drop the ball on their repos, or is it just my perception?

It turns out this time its not even a bug, it is intended behaviour! #Element apparently simply doesn't support #Firefox ESR, which is what I use on #Debian, so I guess I just won't use #Matrix on my laptop anymore.
One of the devs argues they cannot support a browser release that is one year old. Why are modern developers so scared of stable software? Why does everything need to be new and changed? It's so dumb...

@npub1w0w…exht I'm way over the 8kb for my front page if CSS is included, sadly. I could save big by dropping all dark-mode related CSS. I think I can save some on the favicon giving a 404, serving a 0b image might be better. Looks like there's plenty of award categories I don't need to do anything for, though!

My KEF LSX speakers seem to be broken. The LED flashes red and orange, which means an error according to the manual. Doing a factory reset did not fix this. After looking around online, this seems to be very common with these speakers, with the only solution being to send them to the factory for repairs, which can take several months to get them back.
A very sad state for speakers with this pretty steep price range.

I have never experienced the behavior your describing, neither in big cities, small cities, or the small town I grew up in, but I am very much aware that your media loves to sensationalize race tensions in order to keep you occupied. If you were to agree that there is corruption, and to fight it together, you'd pose a significant threat to the establishment. Divide and conquer works wonders.

There are people abusing systems here too, that's something you can't ever completely stop. But arguing that you cannot improve everyone's life out of fear of some people abusing this potential, seems very hostile to me.

@npub15kj…zlnx @npub1ljy…a0ge Don't get me wrong, I still live in one of the "rich" countries, and inflation is through the roof here too. What we have that helps a lot of people out is social security. If you're out of job, or get somehow incapable of work, you're not out on the street with no food. You get reimbursements for your kids' school tuition. We have good public infrastructure so even people who can't afford a car can have a good means of traveling to their jobs and make something of their lives.
To the average USA citizen I see online, all those things are "communism" and therefore unquestionably evil. The system you guys have was made by people not held accountable for their corruption. If you can get rid of the corruption, you may save your society.

@npub1rjd…dpst Honestly, pay never really was a reason for me to switch jobs either. Its more important to have fun colleagues and interesting work, with good hours. Having good parties from time to time on the company's bill is also a good thing to have for teambuilding, much more effective than any dumb HR teambuilding game they can dream up with.
Money isn't everything, most employees know this too. If you think a job is literally only ever a thing about money and nothing more, I feel very sad for you.
