8 out of every 50 Americans was at a No Kings protest yesterday. I just had lunch with one of those 42 who wasn't at one. It never came up during our conversation. Yes, I can still hang out with non-activists. The weird thing is, I'm no activist. I just care & want to get out there in the throngs sometimes. Most Black Americans are not activists in the streets right now. Just too dangerous. If we're dispersed throughout a non-BLACK crowd, like I saw yesterday, it's safer. This is just the truth.

The displays don't "harm" anyone; they just "help" him personally, which is the problem. I wish our country had better laws to keep wannabe dictators in check besides the impeachment clause and the emoluments clause, for instance.

Okay, the guy's whacked, which we all know & that Republicans know, too, but are afraid to say out loud, BUT...his announcement that he intends to rename the Dept. of Defense to the Dept. of War is BONKERS. When my Grandpa fought in WWII in the 1940's, it was the War Department. The Dept. And there should be actual fresh vegetables on the menu— not just salads w/terrible balsamic vinaigrette. Very disheartening to spend 50 bucks at an Italian restaurant eating food I could have made just as well if not better at home. You’re paying extra for: overhead, service, a tip, etc. It’s only worth it if I’m eating something I could never (or would never) make at home because of: unusual ingredients; very long prep/cook time; difficult-to-find ingredients; a rarely available foreign cuisine; professionally trained cook/chef; incredible service. I just got my measles titre test results & my measles immunity is strong. Word of advice: if you were born between 1957-1969, you should automatically ask for a measles titre test the next time you have a physical. The immunity from the measles vaccine given during that time period has most likely waned. I had to get the updated MMR (Mumps-Measles-Rubella) shot in 2007 in order to matriculate in a grad program requiring proof of a mumps vaccine. Because of that, my measles immunity is now good.

I really am trying to minimize use of aluminum foil and plastic. So I bought 'lots of glass & ceramic storage containers & use parchment paper to line baking pans. But, when it comes to making baby back ribs, I MUST use heavy-duty foil to wrap them after I've put on a dry rub. They then slow roast in the foil atop parchment paper on a sheet pan in the oven for up to 2 hours at 250° F before I slather on homemade BBQ sauce & put them on the grill for an another 6-8 mins. Foil is still invaluable.

@nprofile…pj45 I recall using an endpin for my graduation recital (Peabody Institute) and during private lessons. But during practice at home I recall not using one (carpet held it in place plus squeezing it). Given your professional experience, I defer to you on this: end pin wins.

For you cellists (or former cellists, like me) out there, this is a NYT piece on one of the most obscure topics I ever saw: Endpin to anchor the cello? Or just squeeze with the thighs without an endpin? I never realized this was even a controversy! I used an endpin to keep my cello from sliding forward when I was a youngster. I switched to no endpin when I was playing while a college student, because the instrument fit me more comfortably! #cello #cellist #endpin
