Nodes enforce the rules of the network. If miners disagree with those rules, we fire them. Already sold the corecoin I had. I'll buy gold until the pow change. If I wanted exposure to corecoin it would just be better to buy a Blackrock or Vanguard fund anyways. Better to just own the fund that owns corecoin now. Already ordered blake2b asics as well.
Good luck keeping the 21m cap now. It'll be gone in 5 years, probably less.

Purity tests are not a bad thing. Its ironic, because purity tests are extremely important with money. For instance, historically money has been debased by not using pure gold. Governments would start using only 95% or 90% pure gold.
If you want a mask or are required to wear one, I recommend Fake Masks USA. Not sure if they are still up. For those required to wear masks during the covid shitstorm, they produced masks that you could actually breath through. They were just mesh to make it look like you had a real mask on.

It was clearly collusion and that just means its a 51% attack on node runners. I will happily do a proof of work change (even if it means losing a fiat exchange rate). If my node does not matter, then why even have bitcoin in the first place? It's just a cbdc fiatcoin at that point. Worse the the USD most likely.

There are people bragging about backdoor discussions with miners. Can't trust miners on corecoin. POW change is required to mitigate the 51% attack.

Blake2b. Goldshell and Ibelink are the two I've found that make modern ASICS. Antminer A3 might work as well, but is older and power hungry. I've heard of Goldshell, but not Ibelink. I ordered three of the Goldshells. I'll try and make a post if I test them out when they arrive in a few days.
Its the same algo as Siacoin (a shitcoin that ironically is for file storage. Unlike corecoin, they pay their node runners in sia for the space they take up on nodes lol)

Ignoring 18k nodes is called a 51% attack. Using backchannels to collude with miners to ignore the UASF, instead of running a URSF, is a 51% attack.

Interesting how when you assume I wouldn't sell my bitcoin and I inform you I did, you pivot to I must not have a lot of money. As if calling someone poor is an "own" of some sort. Let's assume you are correct, that is kind of elitist isn't it? I suppose its no wonder you do not care about raising the cost for node runners in places like Haiti, or other impoverished nations. You've shown your true colors.

Lets be honest, it was probably an email drafted by an executive assistant at some fund that informed the regulated mining companies. Larry Fink ain't got time for that shit himself.

6 months ago I would agree. I don't think I do anymore. I think "starting fresh" could actually be a great tool in our toolbox, especially as more of the world's population realizes that fiat is corrupt and more people are educated on sound money.
If your running any other type of network and it becomes so corrupted with virus, spam, spyware, etc., sometimes as a last ditch effort you just need to wipe everything and start fresh. I don't think this is anything different. The value in bitcoin doesn't come from the historical ledger. It comes from being scarce, sound, and not easily confiscation. If it becomes so corrupt, it creates a demand for a ledger that isn't corrupted. Any ledger, whether new or not, that provides a less corruptible list of transactions (ie more sound) will have more value by definition.
A brand new ledger created tomorrow, that upholds all the sound money principles bitcoin used to uphold, will be infinitely more valuable (perhaps not yet realized) than the current iteration of corecoin. It may take years, decades, or even a century for that value to be realized, but by basic definitions of money it carries more value.

Sold already. If I want exposure to corecoin, it would be better at this point to just go to the source of ownership and buy a BlackRock mutual fund IE MABAX or MALVX or a Vanguard fund. It's just a derivative product from wall-street now.
Probably will just buy gold and silver until a hardfork.

25% of nodes signaled they wanted the BIP to be enforced. 75% of nodes signaled they were fine either way. 0% signaled a URSF. It is by definition a 51% attack on the network by miners. It is sad, because you will see many sheep continue to believe this iteration of bitcoin is decentralized, when it is in fact controlled by whomever controls the leadership at a few large regulated mining pools.

2026-08-09 12:02:10 UTC

If we didn't live in a world with price controls, the USD to BTC price should have been a lot more volatile the last 24 hours. More evidence its just another form of fiat at this point.

Its clear users don't have any say in the network. We got a very clear answer on that.
Storing data on a monetary network is the modern, digital version of coin clipping.
In 2026, there exists no money on the planet, digital, fiat, or otherwise, that has sound principles.

It is proof that the current bitcoin network is just fiat 2.0. Its a good thing. We know that all the influencers in the space are just digital versions of your everyday wallstreet bro. This is valuable information. It allows our focus to be on seeking out a money that does have sound principles. The value of coins on the current network won't go to $0 fiat, but it will be price controlled and institutions will slowly bleed everday people dry, just like they have for hundreds of years with fiat. Your wallstreet bros will continue with their hype and price predictions and silly shenanigans while normal people get bled dry. Eventually it will be evident that the only nodes on the network are controlled by institutions, because the everday Joe doesn't want to commit resources to supporting a network that is captured.
All of this is valuable information to those who still want the world to have sound money. Eventually we will. They can kill the current iteration of the network, but they can never kill the ideas behind bitcoin.

I don't think any of us were lead astray. What we learned today is that bitcoin is no longer different than the USD or any other fiat currency.
The miners showed the world that individual node runners don't matter. I am glad I have a definitive answer that bitcoin is no different than fiat. People who don't understand Austrian economics or the principles of sound money have taken over. Its fine. It just creates new demand for a sound money. We learned today that there are no truly stateless monies alive in 2026. That is great information.

One other concern I have after seeing everything the last few weeks is that there is likely already morally corrupt data on the current chain. If a sound money chain were to ever catch up after the miners colluded against us today, I would not be surprised if that was used against node runners on the sound money chain. For that reason (and this is probably a hot take), I think starting fresh from the genesis block is my ideal option, unless we can hardfork at a predetermined future block and prune all the data on the current chain.

These are the options as I see it right now:
1. Continue running BIP-110. I think if there was no chance that core update the software to prevent this, in some amount of time it would become the longer chain. A chain designed for non-monetary use cases, will eventually die out like every other shitcoin. I don't think this is an option, because in lets say 10 years time we are catching up, they will just change consensus to make it so the legacy chain always defaults regardless of which chain is longer. They already have coerced miners to not listen to us, even if we were to mine more blocks than them in the next 24 hours, I doubt they would cede control to the plebs.
2. Capitulate and say BIP-110 is a failure. I don't see this as an option
3. Hardfork at a blockheight at some point in the future once we have a good plan and good implementation
4. Hardfork at the genesis block and start fresh

The current blockchain calling itself bitcoin has shown to be controlled by state actors and fiat institutions. It isn't bitcoin. You can call a Windows computer Linux all you want, but it still won't be Linux. Just like you can call your shitcoin Bitcoin all you want, but unless it has sound money principles, it is still a shitcoin.
I don't care about being a "bitcoiner." I care about separating money and state. I care about not committing the digital version of coin clipping to debase the money of normal people.
We lost this battle, but what that means is that the demand for sound money has never been higher. It may take us generations, but we will defeat you fiat brained sellouts. History will not be kind to you.

2026-08-08 23:40:16 UTC

There has never been as high a demand for sound money as today.

The number of eyes on bitcoin grew tremendously since 2009.
The number of people who understand sound money and how bitcoin fulfills that void in world economics did not grow much since 2009. You can use node count as a metric for estimating the number of individuals who see the need to separate money from state. If you include core nodes, there are 100,000 people max out of the worldwide population of 8.3B who understand the need for sound money. The number of people who truly understand what makes bitcoin special is likely somewhere between 10-20k worldwide. This shows that while bitcoin was known to the general public, we failed in educating the masses about what is purposes and promises are/were.
This is why a proof of work change can be so powerful for us. It buys us time. It not only preserves bitcoin as a sound money, but it provides a method of resetting whenever the powers at be sabotage sound money. We rug them every time. Between 2009 and 2026, we can say that we saw the number of people understanding the need for sound money grew from a few cypherpunks on a remailing list to 20-100k individuals worldwide. That's impressive, but it is a long way off from separating money from state. This is likely a generational war for good money.
The way I see it, is that it isn't the chain that defines bitcoin, but the principles laid out in the whitepaper. If any chain ceases to uphold the principles of sound money bitcoin was designed for, it ceases to be bitcoin and a new chain or new fork is required. This is a feature, not a bug. It rugs spammers, scammers, and suits every time they attempt a hostile takeover. It may set us back in terms of "fiat value," but who cares? I sure don't. I care more about the morality of the matter.
The beautiful thing that we learned today is that there is a massive demand worldwide for a money that is stateless (because what we learned today is that there exists no such thing). This is a massive opportunity for any of us willing to stick with it in the long run.
I see a lot of people talking about monero, but in my opinion this is a massive mistake. It includes a tail emission (inflationary), which is a weapon of fiat and Keynesian economics. It should be treated as a hostile money as well.

I am somewhat relieved the UASF did not pan out. After observing the last few months, my preference has shifted from wanting BIP-110 to succeed to desiring a hard fork. I think a proof of work change is necessary. It is clear that regulated mining pools and tradfi have captured bitcoin.
Satoshi only made two more forum posts after he posted this: "It would have been nice to get this attention in any other context. WikiLeaks has kicked the hornet's nest, and the swarm is headed towards us."
I think he knew what was coming and understandably sought anonymity.
IMO a proof of work change was probably needed quite some time ago. The Byzantine generals should not have been deciding when to attack, but when to retreat.
I hope that discussions for whether or not a proof of work change is proposed occurs on github discussions, nostr, or somewhere else without retarded kyc. Discord, X, Telegram all require a phone number verification, which is dumb. @npub1ywj…6ejf

The same investors that invested in coldcard sit on the board of opensats. Why are you thanking them? They should be trying to pay people back their life's savings, not asking for donations to clean up the mess they created.

She came across as really passive aggressive and turned the resting bitch face up to 11. Never really watched her, but in the clips I've seen she has a completely different demeanor with her other guests, particularly those in tradfi. She sat their smiling when Fred Thiel was explaining all the private credit and leverage options MARA has with their AI plays. Like that shit is what bitcoin is designed to destroy and she smiles with no push back? Makes no sense.
