Bitcoin is indisputably the world’s premier Store of Value, but we are hitting a friction point in its evolution as a Medium of Exchange.
Technically, Bitcoin + Lightning is the superior payment rail: it’s faster, cheaper, and eliminates the "chargeback" risk that plagues legacy merchants. Yet, the ground reality remains: most merchants still only accept fiat, and those who do accept BTC often see it account for less than 1% of their revenue.
Why the gap?
In my opinion, the bottleneck isn't the tech—it's us. Most Bitcoiners are focused solely on "HODLing," effectively keeping the best medium of exchange locked in a vault. For Bitcoin to win the $32.9 Trillion retail market, we have to start using the plumbing we’ve built.
What's the solution?
Most of us still earn in fiat, which means the bridge to a Bitcoin standard starts with a deliberate habit. My recommendation for every Bitcoiner is simple: send a fixed amount of every paycheck directly to your on-chain wallet for long-term savings, but move the bulk of your "spendable" liquidity into your Lightning wallet for daily essentials like groceries.
Apps like @npub1krv…d3py are perfect for this—they allow you to seamlessly bridge your Euro accounts with Lightning rails, making it easy to off-ramp exactly what you need for daily costs while keeping the rest in your sovereign control.
This mirrors the discipline I saw in the 80s and 90s. My mother used to budget her physical cash for the week; every time she spent less than planned, those extra bills went straight into a piggy bank. Over time, that "spare" cash accumulated until she could buy new furniture or other essentials.
Also I believe we need to normalize the "dual-wallet" architecture. Apps like Bitkit are leading the way by offering a seamless, self-custodial interface that mirrors traditional finance but with total sovereignty:
- Savings: a Level 1 (on-chain) Bitcoin address for long-term wealth preservation and "Vault" security.
- Spending: a Lightning-powered wallet designed for instant, low-cost daily transactions.
Having full visibility and the ability to swap between savings (HODLing) and spending in one interface is how we transition from "speculators" to a functional circular economy. It's time to stop just holding the future and start spending it.

The European Central Bank (ECB) is now officially seeking "experts" to help jam the Digital Euro into ATMs and legacy card terminals.
It honestly feels like watching someone try to reinvent the wheel, but with extra layers of surveillance and centralized friction. While the ECB is still in the "call for experts" phase for basic terminal integration, the Bitcoin ecosystem has already solved this:
1) Lightning Network: Already settling institutional-grade payments ($1M+) and micro-retail instantly.
2) Taproot Assets: Already bringing stablecoins to secure, decentralized rails.
3) e-Cash ( @npub17fz…9yxv/ @npub1su3…cngd): Already providing the digital bearer instrument and offline privacy the ECB claims to be "researching".
4) Open Terminals: Solutions like @Numo Pay and @Square’s new auto-enablement are already live for millions of merchants.
We don't need a centralized "roadmap" to tell us how to use digital money. We have an open-source engine that’s been running at 100% uptime for years. Why wait for a permissioned, account-based CBDC when the peer-to-peer future is already in your pocket? 🌍🔓

Had some "spirited" discussions yesterday regarding stablecoins on #Bitcoin. It’s clear the tension between monetary purism and pragmatic adoption is at an all-time high.
As a consultant advising fintechs on payment rails, I see the ground reality every day: we are fighting for a $32.9 Trillion retail market, yet #BTC Map shows only ~20k merchants onboarded.
Pure BTC is the destination, but for the 99% of businesses facing 5% margins and strict compliance, stablecoins on Bitcoin rails (via Taproot Assets) are the essential bridge. We can’t win the world if we refuse to build the plumbing they can actually use today.

What I’m seeing in the app:
Clean & User-Friendly: The UI is very slick. You’ve got easy access to Events (to browse or create your own), Places, and Notifications. It feels intuitive right out of the box.
Built-in Wallet: I’ve already tested the native Lightning wallet—it works smoothly. No more "download this app first" friction when trying to show a pre-coiner the power of Bitcoin.
Fiat via Stripe: While we’re all about the Bitcoin standard, adding Stripe means event organizers can reach everyone, while still exposing them to Bitcoin as the permissionless alternative.
Why this matters for my work:
I’ve been organizing live webinars for @npub162r…gwrs since 2023, and I see huge potential here. While I haven't created an event yet to test their dedicated event management features, the overall professionalism of the app is promising.
I’ve already connected my Stripe account to explore the possibilities. This isn't just for future @npub1nf2…y87w trainings and meetups; it's a powerful tool for the high-level webinars and consulting events I host. Initiatives like this that lower the barrier to entry are exactly what we need. We orange-pill the world by building tools that work so well that Bitcoin becomes the obvious choice. 🧱🍊
