From what I understand, there are several open alternatives, but none of them are free from trade-offs or operational issues (e.g Matrix)
That probably makes the decision even more pragmatic: if we ever move away from Discord, we should choose something stable and usable in practice, even if it has fewer shiny features.
Reliability matters more than stars and badges. :)
