You're framing in terms of right and wrong, a false binary. Infanticide is outlawed, because the parents of babies prefer it that way. And yet abortion is legal in most civilized places because the rights of the mother are superior to any privilege granted to a human fetus. You're way out in the edge cases and still can't stand up on the blessed path. I have not observed chickens to be worthy of universal rights at any stage of development, by my criteria.
