These are use cases that are served by distro packaging. There is absolutely nothing wrong with having both this method and the direct download single binary method. I would also argue that being present in disto default repos is a huge boon for discovery and adoption.

When software has an absurd number of build-time dependencies, it has no effect on the single binary download folks, but is actively harmful to the distro package folks.
