Well, I have a unique perspective:
- I’m not going to try to convince you that Lightning is perfect
- I’m not going to try to convince you that Spark is perfect
- I’m not going to try to convince you that Ark is perfect
- I like sidechains like Liquid
I just want people to use Bitcoin as money; I don’t care if they do it with Spark, Liquid, Lightning, or on-chain.
But what really gets on my nerves are the Lightning purists who don’t see its flaws and look down on other solutions.

Australian businessman Roger John Hussey tragically died after falling 30 meters into shallow surf while parasailing at Kata Beach in Phuket, Thailand. The 71-year-old from Perth plunged into the sea within seconds of takeoff due to an improperly secured harness and a fatal error involving the control ropes.
The horrifying moments leading up to the drop were caught on camera by his wife, who was filming from the shoreline. Following the incident, the boat operator and crewman were arrested and charged with recklessness resulting in death.

>The only way to stop that is with a watchtower, or by staring at your Bitcoin channels every 24 hours to 2 weeks.
This is not an optional part of the protocol, so I'd argue LN is not credit precisely because of this
I used 1.09 billion tokens on a single Codex prompt that ran for 10h 45m 31s. It consumed an entire weekly usage limit and kept going. Thank God I have some resets in the bank.
Are we looking for an alternative to lightning then? Because LN is what it is I'm afraid and its design necessarily comes with these tradeoffs.
If we had covenants I'd be very interested in seeing an implementation of the scaling proposal found in https://github.com/JohnLaw2/ln-scaling-covenants

GM Captain Capture the flag!! 🧡🫡
Because when you open a channel you’re essentially putting a secured credit payment of Bitcoin to the people you open a channel with.
But funds aren’t settled on-chain until the channel closes.
Additionally, if the channel is self-hosted there is a possibility that the counterparty can post a fake lightning channel status, and take more coins than they actually own.
The only way to stop that is with a watchtower, or by staring at your Bitcoin channels every 24 hours to 2 weeks.
No funds are truly settled, and owned by you until it’s completely settled On-chain.

There are many things to criticize about LN.
- Centralization
- Complexity
- Inefficiency
- False privacy
And what Floppy criticizes, in my view, is a business model not very different from what ARK and Spark are aiming for—and it’s a business model because it facilitates centralization.
Coming to Cabana:
1. Public project pages (opt in)
2. Public builder profiles (opt in)
3. In-app economy
4. Possibly an iOS / android app
5. Daily recaps
6. Build replays
7. Pet progression + unlock-able pets
Why?
Because it sounds fun (to me).

The lightning network is a credit derivative of Bitcoin.
Sure but LN is set up in such a way to incentivize relatively smaller payments, so I'm not sure we can say these high fees are unexpected or something to be particularly critical of
That’s basically because lightning is a corporate shitcredit derivative of bitcoin.
Unfortunately, cake chose the route that was the most functional with the least maintenance route via Breez SDK.
It’s not a failure of cake but a failure of the lightning network.
1% doesn't look so small when payments increase.
That's why Visa, Mastercard and Estate Agents all make a lot of money.

Why would anybody pay 4M sats on lightning though? I'd simply go on chain for that
