It really does no good to identify as some label. The moment people do this, they give up their ability to have nuanced opinions. And thing is, you can have nuanced opinions on issues AND change your mind. No reason to be judged for changing opinions … that’s kind of the whole point of evolving an understanding.

Right. The crazy thing is if all the adults around you fail to act, you as a kid are left with no option but to conclude this is normal and acceptable. Maybe not acceptable for all the kids but it must be for you. I was an adult until I reflected on that memory and realized how fucked it was.

Once upon a time I didn't think I stimmed either. A lot of us quit or find very subtle ways so we aren't harassed. Stimming serves a purpose and suppressing it has a very real costs. I'm putting conscious effort into relearning stimming, trying new methods and seeing how they work for me.
Made a simple begleri. I suck at it but I like it. Ordered a deadeye and a knucklebone to try. Looking for effective things that aren't disruptive. Nothing noisy for example because the noise might actually be disruptive to some people.
