@npub1kva…tkzv Is there a reason why you do not include the preimage in your zap events?

Thanks ill share more details when its ready 👌
Not the ultimate solution at all
My new antispam thesis is this:
1. Reject events unless we already have a kind 0 (profile event) for the pubkey.
2. Restrict making a kind 0.
By requiring profile events, you force the attacker to create a profile. By restricting the creation of profiles, you slow them down.
Real users should still be able to get in because they won't hit the same limits.
We just recreated web 2.0 security on Nostr. "You need a profile to post?" -Nostr Zoomer
I would love to check it out!
I'm starting to think about relay development a lot more. I'll definitely ping you if I start to really dig into writing my own relay. Writing a filter policy has been really interesting.
Not a designer, but willing to give feedback
Wot by itself may be not enough, wdyt?
#nevent1q…00p6
Why do y'all choose to look at spam when you can just use wot relays, I'm sure you're all in someone's wot
I've been tinkering with a new micro app in my free time, born out of a personal need to clean up my follow list. After following so many people during my time in nostr, I wanted to remove old and unused accounts. As I worked on it, I came up with more ideas to enhance its functionality. Now, I'm excited to implement these new features!
The goal is to create a micro app that gives you total control over your follow and contact list, allowing you to perform various actions, and navegate it with ease. I'm looking forward to releasing it soon!
The app have some visualizations that are quite special, I'd love to get feedback from a designer's perspective. If you're a designer who's curious or wants to collaborate, please don't hesitate to drop a comment! #nostrdesign
That would be a legitimate way of gaming that.
I've been wanting to kind of figure out a way of looking at npub behavior in general as a spam filter. So for instance, if you created all 10 of those accounts at the same time and they're only replies to where to each other Within a short amount of time of their creation, that could potentially be spammy behavior and could be blocked.
spam filtering really just is a game of whack-a-mole. There's always some way to game a spam filter.
None of these 10 account are able to decide nothing, they are not inside the wot of the relay
Exactly I think its a better approach than paid relays, not because paid relays are bad idea, they are good, but people need to pay and also have btc, ln, cashu, xmr or whatever you want to use. It's a lot less friction, as well as pow, and the user doesn't need a voucher to publish. Then this can be combined with a robust collection of policies for easy discard. I wish I had the time to build it. If you want we can keep in touch to brainstorm/develop
What if I created 10 accounts...? Each one gives feedback to the others... interact a little... They add different people... Etc.... At that point, it will be hard to guess if they are botspam or not, or at least prevent it.
A simple opinion
yeah that does make sense. Keeps posts of established users, but then gives new users time to build a reputation. If no one is interacting with spam, it'll essentially be dropped.
I was thinking in a wot relay that allows new people to publish, this new people have a time span where their post will be visible, if they get engaging or similar they stay, if not goes away. There are more details, but does this makes sense?
Writing a spam filter is kinda fucking hard.
WOT is cool, but it's a band-aid that excludes newer users.
POW is also cool, but most Spammers can get around that super fucking easy, so I don't really see that as a proper solution.
Micropayments are also not a solution in my mind.
What I'm doing so far kind of seems to be working, but I also block my own posts from time to time.

i clearly need to do more optimization because 80 cores should be hashing quite a bit higher.
1. I'm going to optimize and fix some bugs first.
2. If I experiment with GPU it will be with WebGPU, and it would be a completely different wasm.
Going for 50 POW for relay ad:

80 cores 💪. If you add opencl support, I'll throw it on the RTX A6000. Or someone could write a bitaxe miner 🤣 and go for terahash POW.

GM! Is it just me or the density of #bitcoin memes dropped recently?
I was smuggling memes from Nostr and Twitter to ... WhatsApp (yeah) and I am struggling to send my 21 follower some stuff they didn't see before.
Is it the zeitgeist, bad luck, karma (I gave credits when I could), what is it?
Do you have the same?

NOSTR SAFEBOX UPDATE
Lots of great progress on #nostr #safebox this weekend. An installation of a #strfry test relay revealed that I had some incompatibilities that I had to fix (fixed). I also optimized my event read/write routines which were causing timeouts on other relays.
I am testing on random relays around the world, courtesy #nostrwatch. The wallet works like a champ on receiving/paying lightning invoices/address and #cashu tokens (V3 for now, V4 soon!)
Now with my optimized event read/write, I am focusing on storing/retrieving user records, so in addition to a wallet, it can act as a sovereign password manager. I will be adding in additional AES encrytion for those records.
The ultimate goal? A wallet component that lives 'out there', usable by the nsec only. Once ready, I will be plugging into the back end of my lightning wallet service, but also am considering an android lighting wallet app that can access the wallet directly.
Still a few weeks away for a usable release. Stay tuned!

What do I need to ask for to get a proper iced coffee or is that something they don't do at all?
Nip44 its just and encryption scheme, not a full messaging solution, its used in some other standards like nip17
Is there anyone working on a NIP44-compatible Nostr client made in React Native?
Yey finally went through :)

I just tagged strfry 1.0.0. Here are some of the highlights:
* negentropy protocol 1: This is the result of a lot of R&D on different syncing protocols, trying to find the best fit for nostr. I'm pretty excited about the result. Negentropy sync has now been allocated NIP 77.
* Better error messages for users and operators.
* Docs have been updated and refreshed.
* Lots of optimisations: Better CPU/memory usage, smaller DBs.
Export/import has been sped up a lot: 10x faster or more. This should help reduce the pain of DB upgrades (which is required for this release). Instructions on upgrading are available here:
https://github.com/hoytech/strfry?tab=readme-ov-file#db-upgrade
Thanks to everyone who has helped develop/debug/test strfry over the past 2 years, and for all the kind words and encouragement. The nostr community rocks!
We've got a few things in the pipeline for strfry:
* strfry proxy: This will be a new feature for the router that enables intelligent reverse proxying for the nostr protocol. This will help scale up mega-sized relays by allowing the storage and processing workload to be split across multiple independent machines. Various partitioning schemes will be supported depending on performance and redundancy requirements. The front-end router instances will perform multiple concurrent nostr queries to the backend relays, and merge their results into a single stream for the original client.
* As well as scaling up, reverse proxying can also help scale down. By dynamically incorporating relay list settings (NIP-65), nostr queries can be satisfied by proxying requests to external relays on behalf of a client and merging the results together along with any matching cached local events. Negentropy will be used where possible to avoid wasting bandwidth on duplicate events.
* Archival mode: Currently strfry stores all events fully indexed in its main DB, along with their full JSON representations (optionally zstd dictionary compressed). For old events that are queried infrequently, space usage can be reduced considerably. As well as deindexing, we are planning on taking advantage of columnar storage, aggregation of reaction events, and other tricks. This will play nicely with strfry proxy, and events can gradually migrate to the archival relays.
* Last but not least, our website https://oddbean.com is going to get some love. Custom algorithms, search, bugfixes, better relay coverage, and more!

I'm trying Nostree.
Thanks @npub1gzu…a5ds!
Would it be possible to add a contact form that basically sends the user's message as an encrypted DM on Nostr?
Also a "Save link tree" button to save as a JSON file would be cool.

When I first was introduced to NOSTR, I was most excited about NOSTR markets.
I haven’t tried in a long time, but to my knowledge, there is still not a market that works reliably enough to use.
I spent a long time building a market through LNBITS (more than a year ago), but it was too buggy to use so I gave up.
Has any progress been made? Is there a reliably market built on NOSTR?
*I tried another one, but the sign up process required email address, etc.

Si, también son muy interesantes, con diferentes modelos para abordar el problema
It makes me incredibly happy to see more and more people using Nostree every day - both new and existing users alike. Almost daily I visit the Explore section to check out recent activity, and I'm constantly discovering fresh lists of links or updates to existing ones. Unfortunately, with my current workload being so heavy, I haven't been able to devote as much time as I'd like to continuing to develop Nostree. A major revamp is on the horizon for the platform, and there are many plans in the works. But little by little, I hope to be able to dedicate more time to the project. In short, thank you all for using, recommending, and keeping Nostree alive - it really means a lot to me!
