Wow #Spotify has made the free version really annoying with advertisements. Before they would play an ad before or after a song. Now they play an ad and simply skip the amount of time the ad ran from the song.

@nprofile…e92q sounds similar to Stellar Blade I guess. That game really didn’t need an open world in my opinion. Made me put the game aside for a while. Picked it up later and all those optional quests do help with world building. But it’s just that the pace of the linear beginning fades away. Plus I don’t like how these open world games make you divert from the story and “waste” time on other stuff. Even so, it can still be cool. But hated it in Gears of War 5.

@nprofile…e92q I had something similar with my PS5. The moment the TV switched to the same input channel the PS5 turned on. That would also happen if you turn on the tv and happen to be on that input channel. I think there was a setting for it, but now that I’ve been using an HDMI switch I no longer have that issue.
Why is it that all these supposedly Quality of Life features always get in the way?

@nprofile…e92q second one is in all major platforms I think. I was excited to hear it was being developed. But now that it’s out not so much. It’s no longer about piloting mechs but wearing exosuits and it seems to be a Monster Hunter kind of game now. Not my thing sadly.

@nprofile…e92q I played that on Vita back in the day. It was part of PS Plus. Couldn’t get a good grasp of the controls I think. Must’ve played it for no longer than an hour. I do have it in my wishlist to get it on my PS5 someday though.

Hoozah! My #Sega #Dreamcast looks to be fully operational again. Installed the #GDEmu today after having installed the #DreamPSU and it booted instantly. Hopefully it keeps doing this!
Got a 128GB SD card for it. Preparing it took a long time though.

Looks like you’re almost through the story of the game. Been some years since I last played it. I think at one point there was a duel between two leaders or something which took me some attempts. But I doubt that was at the end of the story. I only played some history more after I finished the story I think.
History mode is weird, after some missions enemies become really strong. Big difficulty spike.

Bought a key for #Windows11 Pro yesterday for less than €10 to upgrade the Home edition on a miniPC so I can actually RDP into it. Don’t know how they’re able to sell these licenses for this little money (it seems to be from reputable web shops as well) but I’m not complaining. Was rather annoyed Remote Desktop isn’t included in the Home edition.

@nprofile…xlhv in a couple of weeks I too will have to be using it for work. Of course, with the whole shebang of Office365 apps… At least now I can login from my Mac onto a VDI running Windows 10 and do the bare minimum there and the rest on my Mac. That’ll change soon :-(.
But, I’ll resist it till the very end haha.

I have this little MiniForums miniPC just to have a Windows 11 system because it’s useful to have for work related stuff. I don’t use it that often, but occasionally install the Windows updates. I always tell it to update and turn off. It. Always. Restarts.

I'm investigating how some #WordPress sites that are very different in setup (theme, plugins) somehow had malicious code executed that creates an administrator named 'wertuslash'. This is done by infecting `wp-includes/widgets/class-wp-widget-recent-comments.php` with some code.
I usually can find something through access logs, but as of now I can't find which exploit was being used.
This happened to two sites I manage, but also found an old WP 5 site that's infected as well.

@nprofile…y54t hmm these days the separation between work and life with IT is probably gone for a lot of people. Always on call etc. and with working from home being normalized now it’s easier than ever. Mostly depends on the company of course plus how you’re in the game yourself. At current employer (just part of an IT department) my standpoint is my (small) team can call me, but the rest of the company can find someone who’s on the clock.

@nprofile…xlhv Haha yes! At one point when we got a new team lead after two teams were merged they scheduled a getting to know each other meeting between me and the team lead. That was one of the first things I said, not in those words of course 😄.
I mean, we get to know each other when we're working together. Not playing dumb games about who attracts to which color or some shit? Such a time waste.
But hey, if you're against that kind of stuff then of course you're not a team player and blablabla.

Stuff like this is the worst. Reorganisation at work resulted in new teams. As a get to know each other exercise everyone should submit 2 fun facts or anecdotes about themselves. At the end of the day a quiz will be held where everyone is gonna figure out to who that statement or fact belongs to.
I simply can't come up with two things. I can think of one thing, but other than that? I've got nada.
I have no fun anecdotes to tell or fun facts about me.
Maybe I'm just overthinking this?

Good grief the amount of e-mail spam these last couple of days is enormous. I keep training my filter with these spam mails but a lot is still coming through. I guess the spammers found new ways to get through the barriers.

A Dutch #Photography magazine always used to do a feedback article in which a professional photographer would comment and critique someone’s portfolio or a bunch of themed photos from different (hobbyist) photographers. Skimming through the latest edition it seems they replaced that with a freaking #AI that’s now commenting on photos. Sad development really.

Or that wheelchair basketball game. The controls look like you’ll get carpal tunnel syndrome or something within one session. No thanks. Not that big on motion controls like that.

@nprofile…xlhv GDEmu is great! I installed one in my Dreamcast but started having issues with it. Don’t think it’s the GDEmu because my GD-ROM Drive doesn’t seem to work anymore either :-(. Really bummed about it. Had even bought a nice new controller by Retro Fighters for it.

Hmm so far Wave Race 64 works great and Pilot Wing 64 as well. NBA Hangtime has sound issues and the F1 Grand Prix game wouldn’t even boot. Blowing the cartridge helped but it also has sound issues. Mainly left channel not coming through. Will have to investigate if it’s a cable, game or console issue.

I wasn’t going to buy a #Nintendo64. But I did. It’s glorious. Playing this stuff how it’s supposed to on a CRT TV. Awesome. Got Wave Race 64, Pilot Wings 64, NBA Hangtime and a F1 race game.
The nostalgia with WR64 is huge. As a kid I would always hang around the game store to play on their demo unit.

@nprofile…8f02 I never used those Google services. For years been using Contacts, Calendar and Search. Search has been replaced with DuckDuckGo (although their results aren’t that great). The rest is self hosted.
I have a Synology NAS which replaces Dropbox/OneDrive/Drive. But I don’t use their Photos app. Just shares and Synology Drive.
For writing documents etc. LibreOffice does what I need. No need for that to be in the browser.

Just need to move some left over files from #OneDrive and convert an #Excel sheet to #LibreOffice, which contains a macro that needs to be rewritten, and I won’t have to renew my Office subscription!
That means that later this year I won’t be using Microsoft stuff anymore. Google has been shown the door earlier this year. Feels good!

@nprofile…m6ae @nprofile…xlhv Haha you must not live where I do. My fiber provider charges EXTRA to be able to use your own modem. And if I were to switch ISP it be likely back to cable (or still fiber if the price is right) and cable requires a different modem. Also, that ISP doesn't support a bring your own modem either.
So a WiFi router of my own behind the modem is the best we can do.

@nprofile…xlhv I really should get my own WiFi router so I can do a yearly ISP switch. Where I live new customers get big discounts and it’s a great way to save money. Currently using the one provided by the provider so if I switch I’ll have to reconfigure all my network devices :-(.
Having my own router would kick that problem in the butt. My contract won’t end in another year or so but I really should start looking into one.

@nprofile…xlhv @nprofile…n484 somehow with MS everything has to resolve about Teams and integrate everything in it. But it’s such a mess. Can’t find a thing, it’s slow and WHY of WHY doesn’t it use tabs. When in a chat I need to view a document I need to switch back without effort. Not with MS.
Their UI’s are incredibly inconsistent making it so hard to find stuff. And when you finally have found it a tour dialog pops up talking about ANOTHER update revamping the UI.

@nprofile…xlhv @nprofile…n484 Outlook is the biggest trash there is. Where I work, when not working on my own company, it’s full on Microsoft 365. It’s such sluggish software. Can’t believe every business here seems to walk away with it as if it’s the greatest thing there is. And they’re all being vendor locked in.
If I take the time to move some spreadsheets over to LibreOffice I can get rid of MS entirely.

@nprofile…xlhv It's also draining my battery like hell 😐. I have it setup to only sync the files I actually access, so no clue why it's doing this.
I don't really need to have it installed either as I have my OneDrive folder on my NAS and that just syncs with OneDrive (2-way). So when I need to access for example my photo catalog I connect to the share on my NAS et voila.
Maybe I should just uninstall it...
