How “from scratch” do you start? I ask because I make mac&cheese in an instant pot, and although I do use the powdered cheese sauce, I also drop in shredded cheese, and I think it would come out fine even if I left off the powdered cheese; and that would be “from scratch” enough for me. The whole thing takes ~15 minutes?

True, but even millennia ago there were explorers and builders. I would guess that if you had been born 2000 years ago, you’d still be an explorer…

Are you sure that you are plotting with high enough resolution that you know for a fact where and how tall all those peaks are? Ie, the picture doesn’t change visibly if you double or triple the resolution? I ask because these variations remind me of graphs I’ve made in very different context, and fairly smooth curves start to get these beats as the sampling gets coarser. In my case these were more sampling artifacts, not sure here but it’s worth checking?

Is it? It may be a gateway to actually developing small to medium apps, but I think it’s becoming increasingly clear that it removes the learning aspect (not just of programming, but writing and graphic design etc too).

1 acre-foot is about 1.23M liters. So that’s about 1.33 acre-foot. That might work for a small specialty farm? For a big farm it’s probably not going to move the needle much.

My fairly small solar array + batteries (3.5 kW & 13.5 kWh respectively) kept me effectively off-grid for the past 6 months 😊 That’s going to be harder to maintain for the next few months, but still…

my closest encounter with homeless people was one evening when I was walking home from work. Two guys came up to me and said “hey, you should look out, the police are doing a sweep and taking everyone’s stuff” (I look scruffy at the best of times). I thanked them, told them I would certainly be careful and pay attention, and wished them the best of luck. They were just brothers looking out for a brother…

Yeah, I would put it in some safe sheltered spot if you can pick it up. If it’s a chase to get it, don’t; you likely risk more injury than leaving it alone. Other possibilities are if it’s egg-bound (unlikely at end of October) or that it got into something toxic. In either of those cases, there isn’t much you can do… a safe sheltered spot is still a kindness.
