Uhh, so This American Life does some interesting reporting / stories at times but I'm listening to their coverage of the Prairieland case and Zoe Chace is doing a full blown human interest story on the awful fuckin snitch Lynette Sharp. They're just laughing and talking about her life story. I am livid.
Cannot properly express my hatred for every soulless piece of shit cooperator and this media coverage like their stories are normal and charming. Meanwhile the most incredible, principled people were sentenced to up to 100 years in huge part cause of these ghoulish turncoat monsters.

This whole case is so fucking painful. I understand wanting to draw some distinctions with Morris' change of heart (with potentially profound personal consequences), but we should foster a culture where cooperation of any kind is unthinkable.
The stakes are so high.
Do not fucking talk to the cops. Do not betray your comrades (to any extent, at any point). There are worse things than a long prison sentence - and that definitely includes living with the regret of putting beautiful humans behind bars for collectively hundreds of years

Shout out to everyone talking about kickin it at home today. When you've been fighting bosses and landlords and fascists for years, sometimes the radical move is to steal some rest and hit up friends and comrades about reconnecting.
Have so many fond memories of rowdy May Days past in Portland streets (despite the trauma around police brutality and liberal / media gaslighting), and the deepest parts of me are still recharging and wanting to reach out to those I've known for goddamn near a decade - those I'd trust with my life.

Been catching up on recent movies worth watching. Holy shit, I thought Guillermo del Toro's Frankenstein was very good.
Was definitely not terribly enthusiastic about the virtuous forgiveness arc but he's very Catholic and one can only stray so far from the text (need to re-read it cause it's been far too long and I don't recall if that was a key component of the book).
To me the strongest takeaways were around the hubris of trying to control life, deny autonomy, and inflict unconscionable pain - justifying it all with dehumanization (want a better word here because there are some beautiful scenes where Creature exists in such harmony with many living beings also reviled by man). Also appreciate how much Elizabeth sees through Victor from the jump.
Fuck me, overall thought this was a beautiful film and so worth a watch. A lot of rich layers and visually stunning throughout.

Liberals love to cling to images of dancing frogs and street theater - deluding themselves into thinking that a pithy protest sign or a tableau exposing hypocrisy will surely firmly defeat fascism.
And yet every time antifascists warned of this moment, they were thrown under the bus and maligned as extremists. Think of the windows! The graffiti! Why the angry chants and noisy tactics??
And here amidst this undeniable fascist ascendancy, these people who think casting a ballot every 4 years is the height of polical engagement are soothing themselves with images of unicorns and absurdist tactics that will surely put that bad orange man in his place! All while the schmuck in the costume takes a moment to chuckle and commiserate with some fascist livestreamers.
Meanwhile the anarchists and organizers who have been in this fight for decades are continuing to face the brutality and the trauma and still managing to regroup, support each other and strategize.
This is not to shit on the everday antifascist vibes. We absolutely need that. But I'm so goddamn furious that the people who have been doing real work for too long are still the ones cast as terrorists and fundamentally unsupported by the pearl-clutching "I'm with her" contingent.
This threat will not be voted out; it will not be laughed away. Fascism must be militantly confronted and too many in the center / center-left are far too terrified to recognize it or get the fuck out of the way of the people who have (much less do anything of substance to oppose it).
I'm so tired of this Portland in the national pressure cooker moment on repeat. I think it's really important for folks not to feel scared or shy about sharing strategic ideas. We obviously know the current environment but especially those of us with US citizenship, privilege and some anonymity, it's time to cook.
We straight up need mass mobilizations coupled with direct actions. Picking strategic targets, coming up with a fleshed out plan, messaging, public comms channels, then having rapid mobilization teams ready to converge on short notice.
We need to make OccupyICE look like a drop in the bucket relative to the flood of organizing we bring.
Been thinking about context isolation, phased planning, and mass networking across labor unions, churches, community orgs, universities, federal workers, houseless communities, etc. Not just a labor strike but a strike at the heart of the fascist deportation goons terrorizing our neighborhoods and poisoning our future.
Still meditating in what this looks like to bring together on a truly mass scale with a full embrace of autonomous action... but we should be talking about how to get there
