Simple way to improve your quality of life at work is to make video calls into audio-only conference calls. It lets you get up and walk around during them, so you can pay more attention (no computer distractions) and not worry about your appearance and what else might show up on camera.
Audio is great and most meetings have no presentation materials. Use audio!

I hear a lot about how nobody supports open borders.
I support open borders!
If you really think administrative regions NEED to know exactly who is there all the time, I hope you have border stations on your state/province, your city, and your neighborhood. If you don't, why not?

@npub1trd…ussx Not really, but here: external debt and oil prices. Note that debt rose from less than $36bn in the pre-2002 period to $64bn by mid-2008, before Chavez's first big oil crash.
Things only got worse from 2010-15. When prices crashed again, the country had no cushion. 4x higher debt. But instead of defaulting, the govt insisted on paying Wall Street -- even at the cost of domestic austerity.

@npub1trd…ussx this is literally my job. I lived in Venezuela at the time, writing about oil and debt, and now write about it at least weekly. I am not sure what would convince you but the most obvious piece of evidence is that in 2007, PDVSA borrowed $7.5bn, with oil already at a record. The part that matured in 2017 was rolled into a secured bond due 2020, which is now in litigation in NY, with creditors likely to get paid as part of the foreclosure on Citgo.

@npub1trd…ussx by then, Venezuela was on a debt binge that led to the current situation. It borrowed well over USD 100 billion, much of it while oil prices were soaring, and it squandered it, mostly on giveaways for short term political gain or even shorter term personal profit.

@npub1l0s…pgrv I am more anti-motor every day. We won bike space, and now motordom is creating all manner of fake-bikes to try to take it back.
The solution is very simple. Bikes. Bikes are very good. They work. They are silent. Big ones are inherently slow to accelerate, which is good, actually. Their size is limited by humans' abilities. This is good, actually.
As soon as there are motors, the whole way of moving changes, in ways that aren't compatible with bikes.
