I lean towards thinking that community-centric governance is the Fediverse's primary strength and that trying to behave like a global social media is not just in tension with that, as Laurens explains brilliantly, but can only undermine the result.

Has anyone considered making a DOI registrar on AT? This is (as far as I can make out) a valid DOI (using 99999 to stand in for whatever number would be assigned to that registrar):
