In a release that seems to have escaped mainstream notice, the Trump OCC is now saying that banks not providing financing for various ventures including "drilling for oil and gas in the Arctic" is an example of "debanking":

I'm very much against "debanking" in the sense of closing or denying basic banking like checking and transactional accounts -- but are Trumpists sure they want to force banks to finance (i.e. invest in) ANY legal business?

Does the BLS benchmark revision downwards of almost 1M jobs thru March 2025 prove "Trump was right"? No. I got the BLS updated series, and charted and compared the data. Results: Biden (in his final year) demolished Trump-2 in his first year so far, with a 2.6x greater rate of job creation.

@npub153l…caex What do you think of this budget/trade balance article from Orszag? To me, the "balanced budget -> reduced trade deficit" argument sounds like a dubious first-order analysis. Like, we balance the US budget and Americans suddenly will not buy cheap products from overseas? I don't see it.
