@npub1mmf…eknq Not surprised. The LGBTQ community has been in solidarity with many communities who were all pretty quiet during the million man march/hate rally organized by Christians and Muslims.
Sadly, I don't think solidarity is a thing any more. People don't agree who is entitled to rights and Canada still legalizes discrimination so long as it's a religion doing it.
Naively in my 20s, I thought all who were oppressed would come together so we could all have rights and be safe.

Gay rights, women rights are human right. Unless these groups are treated equally by the religion, it's a tool of oppression and for abusing human rights.

The incremental approach in human rights for LGBTQ people by the catholic church just opens up old wounds of religious trauma and abuse. If your big announcement is you are still discriminating against us, but in a nicer way you are still causing harm and trauma and opening up old wounds. And let's not forget, that it's thanks to Christianity and that othering of LGBTQ people that we are still arrested, beaten and even executed in some countries.

I've been walking this earth for decades. People have been debating my basic human rights and right to exist that entire time.
I was hoping things would get better for the next generation of 2SLGBTQ people because no one cares about us older gay people. We just keep getting retraumatized.
How is it legal for fundamentalist religious bigots to protest LGBTQ people existing? Why do they get tax exempt status and are legally allowed to discriminate against LGBTQ people?
