Aside from the issue that, in order to make up music they have to make up a Black person, we should look at the fact that this is music made by AI consumers for music consumers.
Art is the byproduct of artistic process, and the bourgeois assertion that art is a commodity — not something that humans naturally do, but are kept away from — has done terrible damage to our civilization.

I’m starting to see the adverse effects of AI on #duolingo. I’m studying chess and the exercises are wrong more and more often. Telling me the wrong choice when I’m promoting a pawn, telling me that I just made a pawn sacrifice when I didn’t, telling me to take materiel instead of mate, then congratulating me when I go for the mate.
It’s just weird. It doesn’t make any sense. It’s like having a teacher who randomly lies to you and then goes on like it didn’t happen.

I went to take a picture of the back of the #ObliquePalette prototype 0.5.5 and it came out like this. So I gotta share.
The front, in the second image shows the inputs & outputs. Analog knobs, 3.5mm jacks for Eurorack, pin headers for Arduino (or other electronics) & servos.

Prototype 0.5.5 of the #ObliquePalette is in! I’m 75% sure it’ll work, though I’m hunting a comms bug in the firmware.
The honorary bit portrait on this one is Susan Kare, the original graphic designer of the Macintosh, creator of the I-beam and finger cursors, little house for representing “home” in HyperCard — the direct ancestor of the Web —and so many icons we take for granted now.

This kid has great taste in bikes.

She returned to it several times, turning the tail light on and admiring the wheels.
According to her dad, she loves wheels.
I let her sit on it and her dad hoisted her up a couple of times. She was shy about me but on the other hand I was letting her play with my bike, including dancing her wooden animals on it and petting it to tell it good night.

It’s pretty, and it’s progress, but it ain’t right!
The channels of the #ObliquePalette are allocated wrong. Some of this could be a firmware issue, which is easy alwnoigh to address. But it also looks like there might be missing traces on the PCB, which I can test with more jumpers.

On a personal and dramatic level, this would have been a huge improvement. Divorce shouldn’t be a huge deal in the Federation, and if she wanted to keep studying Bajor’s ecosystem while being primary parent, there’s all of a space bus ride away from Dad.
Coulda given Miles some episodes on Bajor, which coulda been neat. He doesn’t get to do much of the space anthropology stuff.

I have an antiproblem where this grain mangler I’ve built, the Voice Nodulator, solves all of my experimental music problems.
It takes crowded, too-fast, high, flat sounds, then stretches them out until you can hear structure, harmonics, & stereo spread.
I’ll be playing it and a little #eurorack of chaos called Rad Dog along with featured artist @npub1zvz…djkv

Here’s the patch that’s controlling the servo in the above video, which is the thing that’s so exciting: the #ObliquePalette can control servos and #Eurorack with #plugdata.

The #ObliquePalette analog outputs are working, voltage and servo alike!
Inputs seem to have an electronic error. Trying to figure it out.
Servo current draw might be too high through basic USB even with power capacitors. There’s a connector to add a separate power plug, too, but I’m pretty sure the answer is USB-C PD that will additionally give the voltage range to be fully #Eurorack compatible.
It’s really exciting to see #plugdata outputting position and voltage to the real world!

Let’s get this solder party started!
#ObliquePalette prototype 0.5.3 is now in hand! Gonna solder up one input & output first to see if things are working. My record so far is that each time more things work, so it’s feeling pretty good here.
I already think I have obsolete resistors on here but they shouldn’t affect testing.
There’s also a single missing user-facing legend, easy to fix in the next version.
But now. Time to stop procrastinating and get some parts soldered in beyond the μC.

I’m literally trying to build a new thing. Different set of axioms, a computer that’s made for humans to be expressive and exploratory artists.
Analog inputs and outputs including servos. Interactions are through graphical programming. It starts off behaving like a musical instrument instead of a machine that cuts costs for your boss.
The first product is a peripheral, the #ObliquePalette . Then, a whole #ObliqueEasel computer designed to sit on a workbench or with other instruments.

It's been a while since I was actively excited about a new computer.
I'm actively excited about the @npub1sl7…lnx3 Reform Next.
It's Open, repairable, modular, and looks cool af in its raw aluminum (I GUESS you can also get it in a brilliant aubergine or black).
It runs off replaceable, standard LiFePO4 cells & you can mod it with other battery chemistries without changing the charging board.
The modularity is really approaching LEGO/Eurorack/ISO bike standarrd levels.

Am I correct that this is a part of optimizing battery efficiency? It’s what’s been holding me back on ordering a Framework 16. I’ve been hearing that there’s only about two hours of work time on the battery under Ubuntu.
