Being testing Primal and Amethyst for a while and the user experience in Primal is not better than with Amethyst, in fact Primal fails in three areas that need work:
1. Follower count, Amethyst is slow to show them, it query them every time and the user can observe the number adding up, in Primal the algorithm is broken, shows less followers, it is innacurate, probably due to relayer "filtering", not good
2. The badges may be useless but they are cool, Primal fails to depict them
3. Zapping using other wallets than the native to the app Primal is slow and often fails
Is Primal your default Nostr front end to go? If so, Why? Seems quite deficient in comparison with the alternative,

yes, and at the current state of things, he is , IMO, half right, if an umbrel solution and node relays easy to implement and pruned are not deployed soon, that will be the end of this beautiful Bitcoin enthusiasts ECO chamber...
One other project is way more successful and engaging by 10 fold, check Stacker News... (link in my profile) the engagement is excellent and the platform found a way to monetize while providing a service people is willing to spend few sats thanking excellent Intel, articles and thoughts, SN takes a percentage and shares a large portion with creators.
It is always the same, on one side the Satoshi Nakamotos' of the world, building altruistically, anonymously, not in search of glory out of ego or primarily looking to monetize (the minority, we have few of them through history) on the other hand the rest, following predictable human nature, with bills to pay, some professional and down to earth, some greedy, some egomaniacs, some sold out to corp interests and the list goes on...
Nostr needs Satoshi Nakamotos' type of devs to free the relayers from the intention to monetize them (umbrel pruned implementation would do)... although we may have to enter a coma state to proof that the path of paid relayers leads to a death project.
Just my opinion ...

As for making illegal any form of messaging app not control or regulated, that is up to each government, those that are openly totalitarian will most probably try to enforce it, which is almost impossible, but they can legislate and make the life of those using it difficult and even incarcerate them if caught... EU is going that way for the surprise of many, USA is not much different, what can't control with back doors normally is legally banned and their devs incarcerated (tornado, Samourai wallet, etc)...

On the anonymous front, no, Nostr does not protect your digital identity by default, again, no app built with privacy in mind as it should be, your IP address is exposed by the clients logs and relayers if you are not using TOR Browser or a VPN. Amethyst app at least has in the settings the option of using TOR but you need to combine it with Orbot used as a VPN client on your mobile, so not for the non tech savvy.
Nostr is not fully decentralized in the sense that is not fully p2p, but relays in servers which act as relayers, some public, some private/paid (absurd IMO, since their selling point is censoring content considered spam or hateful etc so basically ironic and non sense considering the ethos of Nostr). But there are so many public relayers at the moment across the world that you can say is decentralized, but there is no current strong solution for true decentralization (no money incentive) nor for how it will scale further, currently is a tiny follow, we get to a serious usage/follow and the relayers will need a major upgrade

I have the same opinion, voicing it for some time now.
I believe that IPFS is a decent solution, and if any issues with IPFS, working to solve it would make tons of sense. This will make the client side 100% decentralized. Currently, all web based are centralized and therefore subject to closure.
For the relays, IPFS won't do, but an easy solution will be a pruned relay for Umbrel.
While building any NOSTR or Bitcoin related application, security, privacy and decentralization should be the prime directive above all in the design phase, yet, most applications fail miserably

it will depend on the Mint you are transacting with.
In Minibits, click on Settings -> Manage mints.
I will assume you fund one already with some sats to transact. Select it or click on it, once you do that a small menu will open, select "Mint information page"
All the information about that Mint are there for all its users, including the limits for deposits and withdraw, in the default Mint both are capped at 1,000,000 sats and the minimum to 0... So 1 sat

Interesting argument, I will say that the reason could be related to the fact that this is a Bitcoin niche, thus, the currency of the land is BTC using LN, spending time and money on bots and algos to sell us crap is very hard, here is the toughest crowd for them, monetizing from us would be quite hard, most here are technically and financially savvy...

Government oversight is required to create a plan and regulate usage in order to avoid the collapse of the system, if only we had competent government officials...
Nowadays , it is my opinion, we have the most incompetent politicians and government officials across the board (in western countries) in the known history of "democracy" (which is nothing but an illusion of choice for the weak minded majority, but that is another complicated subject....)

My list of the most dangerous bad actors in the #Bitcoin community based on the harm they have done or will be capable to do to the ecosystem due to their resources and influence in the space:
1. Elon Musk. Supporting a meme coin and trolling the ecosystem. Trying to create the american wechat and portraying himself and a protector of freedom of speech... While having Tesla as a cash cow pushing for the BS of clima change (harming the planet with electrical vehicules, which batteries don't last many years and are no recyclable, and when buried cause huge damage to the land and water around). Admired and loved by millions, nobody is perfect but I judge by actions not words.
Potential impact: High, he may support a shitcoin as solana or worst, create his own with the support of deep pockets and the government
2. Jack Dorsey. Known for his history as Twitter CEO during the crusade against freedom of speech, cancelation of critical thinkers and even a president of USA, the behavior of Twitter was disgusting while Jack was the CEO, I never thought that a company could behave that way and survive and yet, there it is... Unreal and zero accountability, nothing happen here, twitter basically gaslighted a large amount of the population, supported political propaganda to one party with no neutrality, supported an experimental drug that is still harming people and didnt let experts and doctors to debate and discuss and not one of those thugs blocking accounts and censoring critical thinkers was made accountable, it is still disgusting to me.
Currently supporting a mining pool that censors whirlpool from Samourai wallet, old habits die hard I guess...
And the cherry of the pie, now funding FiatJaf whom was looking for funding to spam Ethereum and Monero networks to make unusable so more funds will move to Bitcoin and LN... This project and idea from the getgo is a no no, you may not like another project but to spam it intentionally should be illegal...
Potential impact: very high, already inside the community, a record of bad actions, pro censorship, vast resources, head of Cash App, admired by most in the community and hence able to stir the community that is less educated and prone to critical thinking into a path that would eventually make Bitcoin a failure of a project in the future with a hard fork or the introduction of KYC into Bitcoin or additional censorship in one way or another.
Critical Thinkers in the space are needed, #Bitcoin for many years have been a space with many of them, but little by little a see a change, produced by time+age+money, those libertarians are now most of them millionaires, enterpreuners absorbed by the system and therefore have changed their tune.
Stay humble says someone, never more truth
But hey, green candles good, celebration and euphoria, let's not forget the idea of why Satoshi created #Bitcoin. If that was only possible now that the institutions are in....

Interesting, every person is different, some people are immune to the coffee effect, in my case, I can drink a black coffee at night and sleep 8 hours perfectly.
I assume that for some it create addiction since it has a strong effect in their body, I know people that can't function in the morning until they have a coffee. I have to admit that I always thought about it as interesting, they can take a coffee and stay alert, I would fall sleep the same.

If the fees are high enough, the miners will have a healthier business, and be able to growth their business securely. And will hold more BTC as reserve.
Still, they will sell BTC to pay for their OPEX, that will not change until the OPEX can be paid in BTC.
Bear in mind that miners are Bitcoin sellers by default, that is the business model...

Don't pay attention to the noise and the words, but the actions, what is being done, not looking good at the moment.
Hopefully we will see some tangible changes that are in line with the ethos of Bitcoin.
Either way, the management of the situation has been quite disappointing creating more division in the community, I only observe a zero sum gain scenario for Ocean and a negative PR that will be difficult to recover from.

But, I like your setup, more robust and reliable for sure. Umbrel OS is a fun toy to play with, at least for me, the main HW for nodes and sovereign cloud services needs to be more robust 👍

Agree, Star9 is quite superior if you need more than simply a node, electrum and dojo.
I do not feel is a good practice to mix anything with a Bitcon node that is not related, therefore, star9 is a setting I use only for self sovereign server with cloud services, but no Bitcoin, I try to remove any possible additional attack vector to the device.
Umbrel OS works without stability issues if not mixed with anything else but Node, electrum and dojo,.
I think both are awesome, but each one for a different use case.
Did you buy the star9 HW solution or install it in a server of your own?

The TOR side needs to be enabled, that is not built in yet (work in progress)
You need to install ORBOT, enable it as a VPN or just use it for selected apps, of the first, once running, it will connect.
if the second, you will have orbit running the same but it will tunnel via TOR only the selected apps
Until Bluewallet is not connected to the TOR network it won't reach your electrum server, inconvenient, but works.

Samourai Wallet connected to your dojo server installed in your Umbrel OS for best in class privacy transactions and coin control. FOSS and the team is unapologetic hard core libertarians
Bluewallet connected to electrum server for on chain transactions, some decent features and FOSS.
Phoenix for LN does the job very well, FOSS as well and IMO beat in class for lightning network, just open a big channel the first time, so you don't have to pay high fees for channel capacity every time you do a bit higher transactions, most people don't do their research and wrongly state the fees are high, not true, they just don't know what they are doing and therefore use Phoenix as if it was any other non custodial wallet like WOT

My two cents:
More education is needed, most people I have encountered using all these anti privacy gadgets has no clue of what they are really giving away and the potential consequences...
Once you make them understand, that is not only their data being sold, which amazingly enough most don't care, but cyber criminals could hack them and tap into their gadgets to robe them or worst... They rapidly understand the risk and out of fear opt out and stop using them...

Unpopular opinion
#Bitcoin Layer 1 works efficiently as intended, it is simply put, excellent. Any person with a basic induction can run a node and be selfsovereign, run its own bank.
#LightingNetwork ⚡, Layer 2, it is simply inefficient, cumbersome to run and high maintenance, not anyone with a basic induction can run it , create channels and maintain them...
#LN⚡needs work, some teams like Muun Wallet has found a way to make it work for the general public, but they are not the norm.
I keep wondering if a new Layer 2 solution that competes with #LN⚡ will show up soon after, LN has many PROS, but it is not bullet proof as #BTC layer 1 is
Perhaps we will manage to solve the problem of efficiency by a new BOLT proposal that allows single side channels that connect and self balance with other single side channels in the pool of channels, in a seamless manner for the users, currently, to the best of my knowledge, it is not possible, but a solution that achieves it would be a step in the right direction...

A combination of tech and human consciousness is wonderful, yet if we evolve, probably the tech is redundant
Sentient beings like human kind creativity, IMO can't be replaced by machines, machines will run sub routines programmed by human consciousness and therefore, if sentient beings; with intelligence like humans have; is not there to create and improve the programming of the machines they will stall and no additional evolution or progress will exist. Sure master pieces of art (read it copies of techniques or originals) will exist with no real creativity
The flaw concept of AI is to consider it is really an intelligence, we have no real proof of that, that singularity from the SciFi waiting for that spark of light that ignites a machine to become sentient.... Hold my beer, I keep waiting
The current buzzword AI is nothing but powerful computers programmed with human responses based on human made algorithms , creativity is key and for that a sentient being is needed
If machines will do all the work humans don't want to do, that is not bad news, that evolution can happen once Money does not exist (hold my beer again), which will require a level of human consciousness and empathy we do not have at the moment.
The ones with power in our society control the money supply, the technology, the military complex and therefore the population, thus, to believe they will let machines to control them, even if they become by a singularity concept, "sentient", a kill switch will be built since inceptions with redundancy plans ...aka risk management and contingency plans
IMO the ideal scenario is technology controlled by our consciousness, as in quantum theory.... An experiment will have different results if scientists are present , in the absence of humans the experiment fails or has a different outcome from the desired one, this line of research will, IMO, lead us to new discoveries opening a completely new set of tools and technological advance much needed
