@nprofile…k95v right now I have my electrical tools in a tool bag, because that is easy to take on fires. But most of my radio and electronics stuff is scattered about on the workbench and in different cabinets and toolboxes. It would be nice to have it organized in one place, and these modular solutions looks interesting. But the Packout system is $$$

Any of my fellow #hamradio folks using a rolling toolbox solution (e.g., Milwaukee Packout, Rigid Pro Gear, etc) to keep their radio and electronics repair stuff organized?
I'd like to consolidate and store various cables, components, small electronic parts, batteries, and some tools.

Just saw the June cover of #QST. Once again it does not represent the amateur community at all. A bunch of old white dudes and maybe one older white woman?
At this point, I really don't think #ARRL is capable of self-reflection. This miss every chance to be a community for everyone, and they keep failing at it.

@nprofile…nlha yeah thanks. I'm in the same place that author was, asking myself if I should even replace them as I'm usually on an external battery. Looks like I could do it for about $30, so that's not bad.

Has anyone that uses a #Xiegu #X6100 replaced the internal batteries? Mine is way out of warranty and the batteries don't hold much of a charge. I think it should be a pretty straitforward job.

I went on a #radio_run today and carried 3 #LoRa devices: 1) a 433 MHz T-Deck for LoRa #APRS 2) a T1000e for #meshtastic 3) a Muzi Works H2T for #meshcore
I had set up a portable #meshcore repeater at my starting point (attached to my truck on a 30' mast) to see if I could make it into the mesh at various points during my run.
And I prefer the term #geek over #nerd, thank you very much

I do my laundry on Mondays since I work from home that day and it leaves the washing machine open for my family on the weekends. I'm drying my clothes on the line outside today, February 9th. It's 70° F.

Today was my last day as a program officer at the US National Science Foundation (#NSF) in the STEM Education Directorate, Division of Undergraduate Education (DUE). I'll be returning to my home institution, the University of Colorado Denver in the CU Denver School of Education & Human Development
It's been an interesting year to say the least. I've had the privilege to work with many great PIs who are doing excellent work advancing STEM education in our country. And I've been able to work with a fantastic group of dedicated and kind colleagues in DUE, many of whom I consider friends. We've funded some very exciting work that has gone through rigorous scientific review, and that is a satisfying feeling.
I hope to be able to share a lot of what I've learned with my colleagues at home and with the broader field. Some of us who are rotating out right now are thinking of ways we can support the PI community in advancing high-quality STEM education and we will have things to share soon.

Following up on this article about #NSF - this is twice that we have learned something from a Science article before we've seen it in an internal memo. (I'm currently a Program Director/Program Officer at NSF). This is frustrating because we have *a lot* of good science work to do, and we're trying to do it but things (big things!) change so quickly that we can't be strategic. It's really hard to be reactionary all the time. This is the antithesis of "efficiency."
Of course these are my views and don't represent the agency, blah blah blah. But I think my time is limited. Until then, I'll keep doing my best to move good science forward.
I'm very, very proud of this work and of NSF! It means so much to so many of us and to our country. I would not be where I am today without NSF funded research.
