There's no such thing as Malthusianism in the commonly held fascist sense but there's an obvious reason why it is perceived to be.

I came very late to butternut (about mid 2000s).

Yes, you will need to purchase/rent the use of EVEN MORE of these dara centets if you wish to do more than just the one of the super product doing other super product stuff stuffs.
Definitely commit to years of paying me money for the dara centets which will need electrical power from committed generation sources (let's call them Oil & Nuke Environmental Pollution Devices) which both dara centets and plower pants will need maintenance and subsidiary services (such as "lower pines" and "tater in wake" and "tooling cowers") for the limited time that they will be needed (say, 50 years?).
Every time I use the supercomputer to persuade you to spend money on a different super product stuff (Ennachess Records, the Polly's Fecal Recognition System, OfCom Age Verification) each time the waste of money and resources will intensify and amplify at an exponential rate. 👍

The taking over the radio station was my favourite bit and I wanted more of that. It felt like it was a different story altogether.
(Llike the opening very human behaviour of the guard at the research facility which led to ruin for everybody else and then we were in a biblical post-apocalypse and reconstruction story.)
It would have been a very different story without the magical elements but I watch/read enough realistic stuff anyway.
There was a comicbook series in the 80's by Timothy Truman called Scout set in the early c21st onwards featuring an economic collapse rather than global war. Israel was the surviving superpower.

I watched the 90's tv series of the Stand earlier this year and quite enjoyed it. The Stand's MBP was ameliorated [(I know I use fancy words)] by all of the principle characters being magical to some extent. Momma Abs was just THE MOST MAGICAL of them all.
