Bitcoin 2023 Day 2 Highlights
Kennedy announced support (detailed and well-researched) for Bitcoin. Surprisingly, he is not a great speaker.
Lightning was a key focus everywhere; in sessions, exhibits, and the food court. Very few mentions of Nostr in general sessions.
The one big Nostr session was standing-room only. Cool mini-apps from PABLOF7z. His NDK should be huge. Dave on Damus from Will Casarin sounded interesting, hinting at big opportunities for personal AI bots in Nostr.
Saylor also focused on lighting as a big focus for corporate reward programs.
Jack Mallers announced the launch of Strike to 6 billion people in 65 countries. And support for Nostr!

#Bitcoin is NOT broken. #Bitcoin is busy, very busy. This is good. Blocks are still being produced every ~10 minutes. Bitcoin just celebrated 10 years of 100% uptime this past March. An unprecedented record.
Fees are high. Also good. Miners are making money. The eventual transition to fee-based sustainability has been demonstrated. The Lightning Network is ready to assume its designed role of low-fee fast settlement layer 2.

Some thoughts from Day One of Nostrica 2023
My favorite parts were the sections on Nostr clients. Each client was taking a slightly different approach to presenting notes. This truly showed off the multifaceted nature of the Nostr community.
Some of the clients were dedicated to recreating existing web tools such as Twitter, Telegram, or Instagram. But I think the far more interesting clients are those that were trying to fully embrace the Nostr protocol and listen to where it wanted to go.
Combine this thought with the presentation about micro apps, and I think we're at the heart of what makes Nostr unique. Nostr is a diamond: simple, hard, and multifaceted.

Are you trying to upgrade your list of Nostr relays? Here is a brilliant, fascinating resource https://nostr.watch/ with tons of great real-time data. It lists geographic location, ping (performance) times, signup costs (if any), and spam protection information. This type of service will become increasingly important as Nostr grows.
I recently used Nostr.Watch to add 5 new relays and it has resulted in a great improvement in performance and reduction in spam. I will be writing a longer note in the near future.
