@nprofile…x9tq this is not restricted to the UK, France for example, does similar. Ryanair also states what documentation is needed when you book and check in. Perhaps airports should provide a document checking service prior to customs when departing.
At a human level it sucks for sure.
Charging UK nationals so much for a bit of paper that visitors pay a pitance for is very poor though.

@nprofile…y789 agree mostly. Some places it is too expensive for too little traffic or no political support. Battery technology may take over but batteries are not green and are using up a finite amount of [often] immorally mined materials. Mixed mode may be the way forwards for a while.

@nprofile…y789 Ashford was a royal pain to integrate and test to prove it would not export or import nasties to/from the national network. Always found the "International" tag a wee trite. Perhaps the new Thames crossing could drive a need to reopen Ebbsfleet.

@nprofile…y789 indeed. Hopeful for Angoulême (lots of real estate) or Limoges (the forgotten capital). Ryanair is so much easier and lower cost (20% of rail) and as per the various Green Signals podcasts, there is a hige unwillingness to cater for UK people getting into Europe beyond a limited number of large cities. We can but hope though.

Looking for any suggestions in case I've missed somethingin my research please.
Am after:
* A BSD or Unix that has ZFS with FDE.
* Be suitable for desktop (X or XLibre) or server use.
* If possible, for aarch64 and x86_64.
* Ideally EU based.
* Desktop use is light word processing, browsing, watching stuff over NFS.
List so far is Ghost (no FDE), OI Hipster (no FDE?), Free (US based), Net (ZFS jiggery pokery).
Thanks for any suggestions or corrections to the list no matter how obscure.

@nprofile…sr9k your experience of attitudes of others towards non-mainstream and many choosing their job solely because it pays with little passion towards the industry itself appears to be the modern way. Same in my industry. It is a pity so few seem to find their dream job and do it with a deep seated passion for doing the best they can (and trying to self-improve).
