Not exactly right: “Instead of immediately leaving with a completed order, the suit claims drivers waited ‘up to fifteen (15) minutes’ for additional deliveries, increasing the time between when a pizza is removed from the oven rack and when it leaves the building to be delivered. The lawsuit also alleges Dashers could see tip amounts and whether orders were cash payments, making some drivers less likely to accept certain deliveries.”
The AI software did exactly what it was supposed to do. The delivery drivers were never meant to have that much access.

There’s a small stand of oak trees near where I walk my dog every day which is currently flooded from the recent heavy rains. I enjoy when that happens, because the local ducks always find it before I do and adopt it for themselves.

I’ll bet Lord Vetinary of Ankh-Morpork routinely gives his city’s more rebellious citizens, through admittedly circuitous means, the education they need to overthrow him. He knows such ambitions are inevitable, and it’s easier to counteract them if he knows exactly what they’re planning to do going in.

I know they wanted to make the difference between 81% and 100% look much worse than it is to get their point across. A 4:5 pay ratio just doesn’t have the same punch as a 1:3 pay ratio. It’s a valid point, but still a deceptive illustration.

As I understood it, Pixelfed uses your Mastodon account to create a new, local Pixelfed account; it’s just a convenience. You’re not really using one account to sign in to a different server the way Google and Facebook do.

My last employer made a big show about handing out branded swag every year: Columbia coats, portable barbecue grills, and picnic bags with the company logo on it. My current employer just gives me an end-of-year cash bonus. Guess which one makes me happier.

When we brought our Tabasco pepper plants inside this fall, it didn’t take long to see the aphids all over the leaves. We tried a (non-toxic) spray but they kept reappearing.
Then one day I noticed a ladybug trapped in our house trying to get out a closed window, and it occurred to me there was an easier way to solve the pest problem.
Two ladybugs are now relocated to our plants, and seem to be very happy munching up the aphids for us.

I wish there was something like Patreon, but for wellness checks.
