Just got the first/only job I applied for out of trade school. Wooo
I knew this AI shit was gonna be bad for the tech industry and made moves to avoid it like two years ago. Sucks to be right.

@nprofile…vt8d @nprofile…ay7w @nprofile…lvgx Doesn’t having inaccessible software, which is also countrary to several laws, also prevent FOSS adoption? You haven’t made a single point about age verification that doesn’t also apply to accessibility

2026-03-18 21:00:24 UTC

I’m going to start a publisher/printer/bookbinder/bookstore that only sells shit written by humans. I will make a mint because this AI shit has gone several thousand miles too far

2026-03-10 15:01:18 UTC

Whoever came up with the system “if you don’t allocate all of your yearly budget, your budget will be smaller next year” is responsible for so much human misery and wasted money

@nprofile…l7em so I’m currently in trade school. Not going into debt… because I got scholarships. Most of my classmates are going into debt 🙃 I wonder if this guy is gonna pay off their student loans

We hear "all the text on the internet" and we might think "well, they've sure digitized a lot of classic books, that must be good, right?" but then you realize that all of the books are maybe like 1% of the data. Most of it is like facebook messenger arguments and semi-literate emails.

"The average of everything on github" isn't badass code, it's unfinished student projects that never worked.

2026-03-01 17:12:46 UTC

LLM boosters: This is trained with all of the text and code on the public internet!
People who can fucking think: So it's extremely low quality, then?

2026-02-27 01:41:31 UTC

I'm not saying the Democrats WANT to lose the next Presidential election, but they are weirdly attached to Gavin Newsom, and that makes me think they definitely don't want to win.

@nprofile…nmr0 This is how I've felt since Obama didn't undo any of the fashy shit that Bush put through.

Anecdotally, this works so well that I now wonder if all the AI/LLM boosterism isn’t just a sideshow distraction to identify good marks.

2026-02-06 19:13:53 UTC

Lying is wrong. However. The only fringe benefit I can see from the proliferation of AI/LLM shit is now it’s very easy to tell who I can get away with lying to: all the people into AI/LLM may be intelligent, but they lack capacity for critical thinking.

2026-01-30 16:58:39 UTC

All I’m saying is the stuff Trump has done in office is way worse, and more illegal than, any of the Epstein stuff.

@nprofile…pfuj @nprofile…dacs It's odd to me that I don't hear more people talking about this. Apple computers are pretty great for programming and especially web dev in my experience: you get a unix-like terminal environment, but you can also use all the corporate software you want. It's a bit heretical to say, but this ends up functionally being linux that will run adobe software natively, which is very useful to some people (AKA, me when I was doing front end web dev)

If the government is going to use AI to write laws and regulations, then that’s just another totally valid reason to not respect the government or do what they say.

2026-01-18 17:59:11 UTC

For awhile now people have been saying “all this fashy stuff Trump is doing is just a distraction from the Epstein files!” I have some bad news: The Epstein files are the distraction. Pass it on.

It is like watching the Emperor’s New Clothes in real time out here. People discussing the AI bubble have the energy of minor court functionaries being like “obviously we all have to dress like the emperor now, but what if building magical mills to make invisible outfits bankrupts the empire?” while some peasant is like “look man, I can see His Majesty’s balls”

2025-12-20 16:15:37 UTC

If you like AI art you have bad taste and if you like AI text you lack critical thinking skills. I’m sorry to be hard, and I’m sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but none of this is my fault.
I spent my entire life developing a good sense for visual design and cultivating critical thinking skills, and a good bit of it studying how computers work. This AI shit is fake as hell.
None of my opinions have changed in years, either. This tech isn’t getting better. It can’t, because it’s not real.

2025-12-12 18:54:27 UTC

So where are all the new wonderdrugs that AI has come up with? Where are all the cured illnesses, the scientific advancements, where is any socioeconomic effect besides on Nvidia's stock price? This shit has been around for like three years now, what's up besties

2025-12-12 17:42:56 UTC

Should we talk about how plastic recycling was pushed as an early form of greenwashing by the plastic industry? Sure. Should we talk about how recycling should be the responsibility of industrial megacorps, rather than consumers? Sure. Should we throw the baby (materials that can be easily recyclable) out with the bathwater? You decide!

Every product that now comes in plastic used to come in glass or metal, or compostable packaging such as banana leaves. Recycling and composting is what makes this stuff cheaper than plastic. Please. Think about this complex issue for five seconds.

2025-12-07 17:44:36 UTC

Recycling actually rules and I will kindly thank you to stop posting so much stuff that encourages people throwing everything into a landfill
Is plastic recycling effective? Not really. Is all recycling plastic? Not at all.
If you’re not recycling glass and metal, you’re fucking up. And if you wanna use less plastic, then maybe we should use glass and metal instead of plastic. Wild shit, I know.
It is embarrassing that an org like Greenpeace is on the wrong side of this issue.

These aren't even need-based scholarships I'm getting. These are merit-based. I'm a confident writer, but again, I didn't get these scholarships based on the strength of my application. I got them because nobody else fucking applied for them.
When people won't apply for the free money, what's wrong with them? It's like these fuckers want to go into debt so they can complain about student loans later as another form of conspicuous consumption.

2025-12-04 16:03:26 UTC

I have offered almost all of my classmates help writing essays and applying for scholarships. Not one has taken me up on it yet.
One of my classmates likes to loudly complain all the time about how he's not getting student loans, he's paying his tuition out of pocket. He acts like this is a burden for him, but really it's a form of conspicious consumption, because I've also tried to get him to apply for the free money and he won't.

Free Gasworks Park from the Gasworks that makes like 40% of the park inaccessible & useless. In a city that loves to destroy its own historical monuments, why are we so attached to arguably the worst one?

2025-11-28 19:42:51 UTC

- reply

The gasworks itself is far and away the worst part of the park, don’t @ me
They removed all the cool historic stuff (like the elevated streetcar line) long before the gasworks even closed down. It is industrial trash that is in the way of the view. Its only possible saving grace would be as something to climb up to get a nice view, and the city won’t even retrofit it for that. Just lock it up & victim blame people.

2025-11-28 19:37:45 UTC

- reply

If the city is going to take an abandoned industrial complex and turn it into a park, they should absolutely take on responsibility to make sure that it’s safe. Weird that this is a controversial opinion

2025-11-28 19:34:52 UTC

- reply

To all the people saying “the problem isn’t the old, dangerous, abandoned gasworks left to rot with minimal security, it’s these stupid teenagers” listen to yourselves and please stop. You grew up into a bitter adult coming up with justifications for why it’s OK that teenagers die on this thing, when obviously the city should have properly decommissioned it decades ago.

2025-11-28 19:32:32 UTC

I love Gasworks Park, but it would be even better with the dangerous ruined 19th century industrial relics gone. #Seattle doesn’t need a deadly architectural folly.
Either upgrade it so people can safely climb around on it (not gonna hold my breath on this one) or wreck it and give the park more actual functional parkspace.
The current Gasworks Park was all about saving money and sweeping the environmental/economic catastrophe under the rug. Don’t let them get away with it.

They weren't swept by police because people were much more understanding back then. They had actual wooden structures with chimneys and fireplaces. Heated in the winter. They even had mailboxes, addresses, and service by actual postal carriers.
NYC's main Hooverville was... in the middle of Central Park. Everyone was fine with it.
People were so much nicer to poor people back then.

I think any professor would welcome an interaction like that. No one wants empty/self-serving CV/resume spam.
