Although there are probably a few, it's the wrong question, IMO.
To find the revolution, what authors are:
a) Banned from making Twitter threads
b) Think asking people to 'subscribe to my substack' for the cost of a meal per day is offensive and/or disagree with Substack's user agreement and/or haven't the 'clout' to draw income with a paywall
c) Aren't being found on Ghost.org
d) self-custody their independent, free writing, and therefore are banned from the network effects of ever having a chance to be found on a search engine
e) work at centralized archive companies/services / National Archives
f) create scholarly articles yet understand that the gatekeeping peer review process is corrupt
Or if you must chase those who are already successful in a paradigm that does not reward free thinking,

We are well beyond 'opinions' on Donald Trump, star of the Apprentice, who was universally respected, and whom you probably thought was hilarious, until 2015.
I support Trump 2024 first and foremost because I denounce stolen elections. If foreign powers and captured domestics steal the election, I want it fixed.
Even if you don't like the guy, he is the only man on earth who has a legitimate claim to the United States Presidency - he won the vote in 2020, provably, obviously.
All the worst warmongers and corrupt government grifters and connected special interests and agencies, with the help of foreign adversaries, have been attacking him ever since.
The way I see it, you either believe in having a president who represents the people based on a fair vote (even if it's not your president!), or you believe in elite insiders selecting the president they want.
If it's the latter, I hope it's because you don't have the facts. But at this point, they are so easy to find...

We don't disagree. A marketplace of algorithms, some that are static rulebased and would show the same feed for everyone who uses them (like those in the video it looks like) - such as 'these five hashtags' will be useful to a wide swath of people. But imagine they are five corporate hashtags. The end game is that the hashtags / npubs / notes are chosen based on my preferences for me, and your preferences for you. The algo builds based on my sliders, knobs, levers, defaults, preferences, WOT scores, and I can change them to see what changes, rather than, the algo builds based on the engineer's ideas and preferences.

Each algorithm producer may have the ability to create something useful, but the ultimate is when the algorithm builds the feed on the fly based on user's preferences and individualized WOT score. Parallel thoughts ^there. Centralized implementation of the tool through a limiting idea, principle, or structure that the engineer has in mind is a non-starter. It must MUST be an entirely different trust score for each individual, based on the individual's choices. And we must discourage wholesale adoption of standard trust data during onboarding at every turn, ensuring a seed for each user that allows for ownership of one's own discernment, rather than delegation to a one-click preset that threatens to defeat the purpose.

Do I understand this correctly that there is only vulnerability to eavesdropping in realtime - so since the diffie-helmann ratchet isn't created on every msg / until a response, the the window for eavesdropping is as long as the time it will take to receive that response. Therefore in any context / setup where the individual must consider there is a chance of realtime eavesdropping, the overall risk factor is affected by the probability the needed response will come quickly? I've been thinking of small creators. They are the ones who get $4 checks from Spotify, or have worked for 10 years to get 9,000 subscribers on YouTube, or reached 10,000 and are not granted authrorization to monetize. Bandcamp users. 1 Each individual chooses his or her default visible trust algorithm, and can change its parameters freely independent of client.
2 Yes, No. And, 'Is trusted' is not granular enough. 'Is trusted in meatspace' vs 'is trusted globally' vs 'is not untrusted' vs 'is prolly not a fed'
3 Absolutely not. A user should have the freedom to follow someone they do not trust without it affecting their WOT algorithms, if they don't want it to.
4 Require? Perhaps not. An option though. 'Create Throwaway Filter' or 'Create Persistent Filter' or 'Edit default filter' or 'Change default filter' -- these should all be independent of client
5 I'm not sure the implications, but it seems not only by clients.
I definitely think there should be a market for filters. I need to be able to click and see 'what do employees of x company' tag this image, say about this fact-check, rate this person's trust, etc.

Yea. It's a misunderstanding of economics, common with what is taught in schools today. So much coercion is involved in so many of our purchases that it's too often forgotten that, here in a voluntary v4v environment free of coercion, one can only 'make money' if people choose to part with it. Fraud is still an issue, but here we have a level playing field and we can 'zap the change we want to see in the world.'

I am not advocating for people to switch to a v4v/nostr/bitcoin model with expectations that it will be the same. I don't know anyone who is. Thinking v4v, through Nostr and Bitcoin, will perform 100% the same as the best performing current existing alternative model, while the technology and the user base is in its infancy, is delusional. People who 'have bills to pay now' and are putting all their eggs into an experimental basket seem to be the ones that want the world as it exists to change, rather than changing their revenue models or diversifying to mitigate risk.

This is not a problem with v4v. It is a problem with
a) culture. People are not used to having the freedom (and responsibility) of setting their own price. yet
b) numbers. Nostr has yet to see the 10x 100x 1000x it soon will see
c) expectations. Creators cannot expect the earnings to match their chosen expenses. The earnings will be what they are worth in the market. Something is worth what someone will pay for it.
d) economy. Disposable income is unnaturally diminished because of distortions in the market by globocorp, taxation, and various government interventions.
e) currency. Fiat currencies have set a precedent for reduction in value and have disincentivized savings. Earning in Bitcoin is not a 'what is my purchasing power today' equation like earning in fiat is. Earning in Bitcoin is something between a hedge against future economic uncertainty in all forms and a retirement plan.
f) lack of social pressure. People will come to be recognized for how much they zap, for what, and how well distributed, vs how much they consume, vs how much they create.
As the economic model moves from contracts managed by agents and lawyers and employees' renting their time to individuals taking ownership of their labor and choosing vocations that match their passions, and as additional means of passive income are unlocked (blockchain based royalties for derivative works, micropayments for fact-checking, paying for advice and recommendations by the reputable, micropayments for helpful reviews, off the top of my head) the view on whether nostr monetization for bitcoin is 'worth it' will change.

I see the challenge as two distinct audiences / strategies. Receptive audience, and non-receptive.
Reaching the receptive audience is a communication challenge. These are freedom advocates, privacy advocates, those who have been banned elsewhere - pretty much anyone who has ever had an account on Odysee, Bitchute, Mastodon, Minds, Truth Social, etc etc. It would be trivial for these folks to set up an account here and see if it's a good fit for them - there's no selling them on the value proposition, it's just a matter of making sure they know it exists and how to do it.
For this group, it is only a matter of determining a) what the most effective way to communicate 'what is Nostr' I.E. 'the new uncensorable freedom social media that is easily monetizable with bitcoin + open source development protocol + that jack and snowden and lots of devs and bitcoiners are flocking to - no one can ban you there', and b) what is the most effective way to reach them with that message, I.E. advertisements on other social media, individuals posting to other social media, invitations to zapathons, etc.
Reaching the non-receptive audience is a popularity challenge. The biggest obstacle to their using Nostr is the fact that it isn't where their followers are. This challenge is only a matter of time and critical mass.
Assuming more Nostr signups is the goal, a) how to incentivize and or encourage people who aren't already doing what they can to reach out to the receptive, to do so? and b) how should those who have an incentive be focusing their efforts for maximum effect?
Thoughts:
- Building out the protocol and allowing organic growth that results from more desirable function would resemble the principle of using attraction over promotion
- Directing effort toward prosthelatyzing the non-receptive may be wasteful
- It might be effective to create a cultural institution, Zapathons model - by choosing a day and time for getting signups, for doing purple pilling. Incentivize it somehow, if not just socially.
- Be aware of the tools that already exist that explain Nostr and how it works and how to start using it. No need to reinvent the wheel, just direct friends to what already exists.
- Enjoy the vibe as it already is, we'll look back nostralgically -- Pura Vida Nostriches :D

I think this is accurate, but I also think it is a recurring cycle with no end in sight. Like a spiral as maturity/stability increases and as novel innovation reduces accordingly. No end in sight in the Bitcoin space.
