Last time I checked NewPipe was unusable on AndroidTV. I use it on my phone though even if it doesn't have SponsorBlock.
Invidious shines on my TV.

Selfhosting #Invidious and using the #Clipious frontend app to get rid of YouTube ads is a killer setup for #android phones and TVs. And it has SponsorBlock too!
