so, my knee is soft tissue damage, PFPS, and now I have a knee support which I am really inpressed with I might add...
it is not for use during running (though i can wear it walking) as it's too restrictive
However, a longish walk has to wait until Friday...and a run...maybe (and the word MAYBE was stressed to me) another week after that 😭
At least I have a timeline,it is all dependent on wearing the support, doing the exercises (even though its real hot) and listeniing to my knee

Imagine how much better the green party would have done, and how much worse Reform PLC might have done, if Starmer and his lot had spent a little less time smearing the Green party and enabling the racists, and a little more time addressing the problems that have led to the erosion of community, and social inclusion

Imagine how bad you have to be failing in Iran to not be able to distract anyone from your historic noncing with Jeffrey Epstein - so you arrange for another inept gunman (in a country where you can buy a gun with your milk) to try and assassinate you, at an event where you have highly trained secret service and your own private militia as security and still failing to either detect the gunman or distract anyone from part in the Epstein files.

you need a tiny little pack to carry your jacket in, or a jacket that turns into a tiny little pack (though I'm uncertain that's even a thing...kinda should be) that you can put away without stopping.

Good morning 🌅
First run after bruising my heel a few weeks ago, then taking the last 8 days off, to help it not feel like my foot had been hobbled by Annie Wilkes's sledgehammer.
Today I walked for 250m, then ran a 1km then walked 250m and repeated until I was back home, useful post injury training, not generally how I like to run, but needs must.
Just done my post run cool down Stretching and also core, so now I need of coffee.

Good morning 🌞
Set a later alarm this morning, got 8hrs - got up, sorted out three hungry felinest, did a flat white for the other half, then stretched and went for my run.
Bright sunshine, 22°c, I managed to forget my running cap, and only noticed I wasn't wearing it about a km in, which meant sweat in the eyes later on, always the downside of warm running is one very moist human 😅
Logged my 600th km for the year so far today.

Good morning 🌞
An absolutely sensational sunrise this morning, the colours took my breath away, and I'm not sure my shitty phone camera did it justice...still we try.
The sun was coming up as I ran up Mgarr hill, I've never run up this hill (only down it) It's definitely harder going up... 😂 The OZ Engineering sign made me think of the Starship Enterprise.
So, 15km - inc my fastest 5km of 2026 to begin. I need coffee now.

Good morning 🌞
Started today's run in the dark.
Wore my hydration vest, without the water bladder, but took a small soft flask with electrolytes.
The reason for the vest, is because I have clip on lights for it, which are really neat, it makes a change not to wear a headlamp.
15k - nice muddy trails and filthy puddles, the slop from Friday mornings sandy rain.
HR kept creeping up, dunno why? I didn't feel it RPE wise, perhaps I was peckish.

Good morning 🌄
Birthday weekend over, 52 laps of the sun completed, my 53rd inc the very riveting shopping of paint and new curtains, done...at some I'm gonna have to do the actual decorating, and not just stare at unopened tins of crown paint.
So, after over sleeping this morning, I left in the daylight for an extremely soggy, squelch squelch, 10k trail, a nice easy steady state, aerobic run, perfect to burn off those weekend cakes.

Yes indeed spring is here, which means the early mornings are now cooler again, due to less overnight cloud cover, as well as the early morning that bring in blankets of freezing sea fog off the Med. It does slowly lift as the sun comes up. All the rain the island had in January, and February has led to an explosion of green as well as wildflowers literally everywhere, it is wonderful

2026-03-03 11:16:55 UTC

Good afternoon 🌅
I would've got this up earlier, but for chore distractions, and the hunt for two AA batteries.
First run of March, and 4th Half Marathon of 2026, essentially ran to the other half's work for a cheeky kiss, then ran around, up and over 3 unforgiving hills on the way home, after running up 1 on my way out. Not my quickest, not my slowest, but a first deciding 4 nasty gradients in 21.15km was normal.

Good morning 🌄
Absolutely horrendous 40Kph westerly wind, that I was literally running into for the entirety of this accidental - deliberate half, that makes 2 HM's this month, oops.
This is actually the first Zone 2 & 3 half I've ever run, I am not breaking any records for this, but that's not the point is it, hopefully some fat was lost to the wind and the road. Polar flow says 44% fat burnt, so that's good.

Good morning 🌄
Out a bit later this morning, as I extended my warmup, to include some strength training.
Today I thought a nice slow 5k along the coast out and a quicker 5k along the back lanes home and maintain a low HR.
Although the avg HR was not as low as I would've liked, my rpe checks pegged me at a good 3/4, and I did do a slow 5.7k out, and faster 5.7k home. Plus the extra bonus of a coastal red/pink dawn pre sunrise sky.

Also it was a K-Tel release, and they were really big into compilation albums in those day. I suspect they saw the success of Hits and Now That's What I Call Music, and thought "we could do that with heavy metal."

Another wet run. I don't think there has been a day this month where it hasn't rained at some point during the day, which means another wet foot run. Today, it rained from start to finish, plenty of water, mud and stones, plus road wide puddles.
I stumbled in a puddle today, the road bed I was expecting under the water had gone, but I'm ok, water cushioned my fall. I did feel a charlie going for a short swim on my easy long run 🤦

Excellent - good to hear that she's a runner too.
That warmth wears off after a year of living here, I remember my first warm winter, then I acclimatised to Malta summers and suddenly 15°c & 80+ % humidity in winter feels like 15 below. But, you can always put on another layer, until the sun comes out. Anyway, I really hope she has a great time, there's loads to explore, and the weather will soon clear up. Next week there's force 8 winds expected, but that's normal for here.

Aww that's nice to hear, Malta can be quite a culture shock, some like it here, some don't - there isn't a middle ground, but glad she is doing better. We don't always get storms like this week, the last biggie was in 2018, but Malta does get very windy at times, makes for some good resistance training when you run at least.

2026-01-22 18:58:30 UTC

So...I ordered some new five fingers from Vibram last week, and just before 7pm tonight, (despite Malta being ravaged by storms) UPS delivered my super quiet new V-Alphas.
Now, there is absolutely nothing wrong with my V-Treks, but I love a sale, and 30% off another pair of five fingers direct from source is to good to pass up.

So, my running year for 2025 comes to a close with a violent thunderstorm, hail and driving rain. While I'm happy enough running in rain, I draw the line at trying to outrun lightning.
So, I'll do a little workout after lunch, a little stretching and begin 2026 with a run instead.
At some point later, I'll post my run highlights for the year, but for now I'm just gonna watch the storm, drink another coffee and go through my 2025 data.

Finally on charge...
The reason for the new running watch is my Amazfit GTR4 has big issues....both operation buttons have failed, and the battery which used to last for 3 or 4 runs and 14 days standby now lasts 3 days...whatever I do.
though I can use the watch with touch control, and putting in on charge a lot, has the added peril that if it has an issue and turns off, I can't switch it back on again.
In time I may fix it myself, but the cost of repair in Malta, is a new watch.

Ouch...bashed knees...a familiar feeling. It'll make for an uncomfortable 16km, that'll soon be washed away by the elation you'll feel when you hit your 10,000km goal

nice run, you've earned at least a couple of those festive doughnuts, yum 😋 Have a fabulous day, Merry Christmas 🎄🎁

temperature is a funny thing

Yes, windchill does indeed catch people out. Even here, a winter walk by the sea can end with hypothermia if you don't wrap up warmly

oh yes, it's always the wind that gets to the delicate spots

it was nippy here this morning....7°c (that's cold for Malta) I am still doing shorts...dunno if I would be if it were minus 7...or the temp it is where you are in Germany

nice...team shorts still?

great to see you scything that distance left down efficiently. Pictures are wonderful, a very crispy frost and low hanging freezing mist...

That's a good workout and run, but messy icy paths...no doubt the result of your heatwave.
Cautious, sounds sensible.

Herbert's 'The Fog' is excellent, also read The Rats which was his first novel written in 1974 which he followed up with Lair in 1979. I thoroughly recommend anything by Janes Herbert, but those three books helped inspire me as a young writer

There is also the novel 'The Fog' by James Herbert written in 1975, about a deadly fog that drives people mad when they come into contact with it. There is also the film The Fog by John Carpenter (better known for Halloween) which is strange glowing sea fog (so that's probably more applicable to me, I'm forever running into freezing cold sea fog in the mornings)

Good morning 🌄
Out this morning for a planned Yule HM, unlike my accidental one in November.
My goal to run under 2 and half hours meant I needed to shave almost 3 mins off, my previous best November time - which took a bit of shouting at myself but, objective achieved - 21.15km in 2:29:11, so I'm pleased with that.
Podcasts today: Ologies; and The Slow Newscast: The Man Who Counts Trees.
Now, mince pie & fresh coffee to celebrate

Totally hardcore running this is!
I hope I didn't put this idea into your head, but you're supposed to cap off the 10,000 Km with a marathon, so maybe cap it off with 50km instead 😁

Nice run 👍 Hmm, that looks a nice choccy swiss roll...It needs more icing to really be a yule log ino, but still looks really tasty 😋

Whatever you do, it is so dam impressive.
Also, we could all do with a few more hours in a day.

Into the home straight for that goal now. Are you going to cap it off with a special distance day...like 42km?

You should trade notes with @npub1exx…6wz7 as he uses chat-GPT for training, or Coach-GPT as it should be called.
Aa a writer I am not a big fan of A.I
However, I will say that it does seem to be a tool that is gaining more traction in sports training whether as a virtual coach, or as part of a coaching setup.
I guess, I soften to it a bit in this scenario as all smartwatches have an A.I coach anyway

It needs something...a small main app Q&A...all this health data being collected from, calories burned from effort, calories burned from being alive, macros in, your running data, VO Max, etc...and there is literally nothing to let your watches coach or the training algorithm know when you are ill or injured. Everyone I know with whatever the watch always wishes they could tell the accompanying app when they are sick.
Thanks, I surprised myself with how quickly I fought the winterbug off

All of the smartwatches need to have a way to enter if you are ill,...I've had my fist run today after 5 days of manflu, still a bit yukky today bit ok to run. But whatever algorithm they use, you can't tell it you are sick, so it keeps recommending inadvisable levels of exertion, which you obviously can't do while your sick as a dog, and that adversely affects your training data as you are not training. I like to see that addressed by all manufacturers to be honest

@npub10lt…7hry @npub1dec…x7um @npub1lzw…3vel Thank you for thinking of me 🤗 it's appreciated. I am ok, in a little better place mentally than a month ago - I had to take a bit of time away from social media, and the internet, and try and ignore the world...(long backstory, Maybe I'll write it one day.)
I'm still running though, that hasn't stopped.. except in the last 4 days where I've been fighting off a cold, that I probably got from running in the wind, rain and through roads that became rivers on Sat 29th

that mileage (kilometrage) is ticking along nicely now.
They say you should throw curve balls into where and the routes you run, as It is often harder when you actively take over navigation, rather than letting the legs just go. Still you can never tire from such a splendid view
