I (@npub1q05…xv2t) am going to state this as clearly as possible here in the hopes it'll propagate quickly.
#Pidgin, and the other projects we maintain alongside it, have never and will never knowingly accept AI-assisted anything.
We proudly respect all licenses, #OpenSource and proprietary, and will not taint our license with whatever you think AI-generated code is licensed under.
A more formal document is now in the works in the hopes that our precious volunteer time will be spared.

we're trying but we're an unfunded volunteer project so these things take time.

We're trying to gather some data when it comes to how people manage their "presence" in chat applications. That is, whether you're available or away among other options.
We know this has declined over the years due to privacy concerns, but we're looking to gauge whether people update their presence in an ad-hoc fashion or use the saved presences that we support.
So if you don't mind, please let us know and boosts are appreciated!

Hiya everyone! Have you ever considered contributing to an #OpenSource project like #Pidgin but didn't know how to get started? We have some documentation on just that topic on our website! https://pidgin.im/development/contributing/
We're asking because we could use some help catching up on code reviews! It's a great way to start learning how the code base works and best of all anyone familiar with programming can help!
If you're interested you can find our open code reviews here https://reviews.imfreedom.org/r/?show-closed=0

Heya everyone, I thought I posted this here last night, but apparently I didn't..
I regret to inform you that the Screen Shot Off The Record plugin that we linked to briefly was found to have a key logger and was sending screen shots to unwanted parties.
So if you have this plugin installed, you will want to remove it immediately.
You can see our official post about this at https://pidgin.im/posts/2024-08-malicious-plugin/
We are planning a more indepth post in the near future.
