I will never forget sitting on my union's finance board meeting, listening to the president report they were forced to "invest" on a high return portfolio to make payroll, and that they found out, the reason the fund's returns were so high, was because they contained stocks of private prison companies.
The union was profiting from mass incarceration.
That's when it finally sunk in, how defeated workers were. The Fiat system, by controlling the money printer and manufacturing a persistent inflation, had forced labor unions to help bankers, their very own oppressors.
The economic incentives that made this into a reality were so effective, the whole process was entirely voluntary. The union's choice was to die, or "invest." And when they invested, they handed over the accumulated blood and sweat of the workers back to their masters. Like giving away one's sword to the enemy in a duel.
That day, it became clear that #Bitcoin is the only way out of the Fiat system.

Michael Saylor is just another annoying billionaire who thinks he knows Bitcoin better than the plebs, even better than Satoshi. He made some money by accessing the money printer and buying Butcoin with that, and now thinks he is the king of the world.
Well, time will tell, but my bet is that his arrogance will lead to a fiery downfall, much like Roger Ver. And MSTR is the trap of this cycle, much like ICOs and yield products were before.
Why do I think that? Because someone who thinks of themselves as above the network and its consensus, will only manage to slowly cut himself off until he finally forks himself out of Bitcoin. Saylor should remember that before he does the same.

lol, this is comical from the perspective of someone who has lived through the death of a fiat currency, twice. Americans think the dollar will never die. To that I say:
Sure, maybe the USD is truly immortal, unlike every other global reserve currency before. But imagine waking up one day and they printed so much money that your $120 million USD can barely buy you bread (aka soft default). Oh, and you can't buy Bitcoin either because they have blocked off the exits in anticipation of this.
Alternatively, imagine waking up one day and seeing everyone's bank accounts frozen, the funds are then confiscated in a "bail in." Your $120 million USD is now theirs. After much public outcry and burning and looting, they give you back your money in a new currency they just printed, worth 10% of your original purchasing power. Meanwhile, you have no Bitcoin because you sold it all!
Moral of the story, fiat is as meaningless as toilet paper. Good luck living your "stress free" life in fiat land! I know what I will be doing.

Is there a way to recover access to the old account? I didn't link any other login method, because I thought having my Phoenix wallet seed words were enough.

Ever since my uncle passed I have been in a rut myself. At least I find myself in good company. Thank you for sharing. Reading it makes me feel like the internet of old, back in the 90s, more real, less filters.
Talking about ruts, I always feel they are like Bitcoin bear markets. We know at some point it should let up, and past experiences of positive turns help with enduring things, but there is no guarantee. And no one wants to hear about ruts, just like most don't want to hear about Bitcoin. Coincidence? 😅

This is indeed terrible. As the attacks intensify, it bears remembering the fiercer their oppression, the greater their desperation. Naked, brutal displays of power reveal a fatal weakness: they have set themselves against the people. Sooner or later, the dam bursts.
On a technical level, I am optimistic the technology of decentralized platforms like Bitcoin and Nostr will survive no matter how much they try to destroy it. Why? Because today and every day, people are still using BitTorrent.
Even after all the heads are chopped off, a decentralized network is an idea, and an idea cannot be killed.
Meanwhile, it has become clear that the United States and the West writ large are lost already. The empire will eventually crumble under the weight of its own demagoguery, greed, cruelty, and hunger for unlimited power. There will be many casualties. In Gaza, in the US, in countless places around the world. Brace for impact. Stay resilient, stay vigilant.
