So, you pulled "mid-advanced" out to what! Again, you're trying to make us out to be special. We're not special at all. Look at it this way. It's like a soup recipe. Even if you change the recipe a bit or don't follow the instructions perfectly, you still end up with soup. And, I daresay it's just a matter of calculating the effects of variability. Originality is over-rated.

The height of human self-centeredness is to assume that if aliens are "advanced enough" to have conquered the physics and biology of space travel, they would be even remotely curious about us. And before somebody suggests they would want to study us the way we do other life, don't understand what it means to be "advanced enough" as well as demonstrate my point of human centric, self-centeredness.

It's a great point. As a method of learning and personal growth, no doubt you've nailed it. Unfortunately, manipulating hearts and minds can be abusive and misfocused as often as it's not either of these.

I'm struggling with your point to the extent that protest is an immediate reaction to generic issues; whereas sensible solutions require time, brainstorming, analysis, and negotiation. In short, I don't see much overlap between the on demand nature of protests and the time honored science of solving problems. Care to expand on your point?

The problem is always extremism. It's all too easy in these times to employ the tactics of history. And, that is placing labels on a group of people who when broken down probably have more varied views on how to get from here to there. I support students protesting anything the fucking hell they want. I know that once mature most will have learned the critical thinking skills to analyze problems and seek sensible solutions, rather than ride the hobby horse(s) of the day.
