Second set of twin lambs born overnight. The low last night was 27 degrees farenheight. It is amazing to me how they drop on the ground, soaking wet in that temperature, get up and nurse, dry off, and then are fine. I'm cold in my coat and gloves. I have a portable chicken coop that rotates around the farm following the chickens. There is a 50W solar panel mounted to run a light to make sure the chickens have about 15 hours of light year-round to keep egg production up. It wouldn't be practical to run extension cords hundreds or thousands of yards to operate.

In don't have a tortilla press. I cut out two sheets of plastic from a gallon ziplock bag and press the dough between the plastic on the counter with a pyrex casserole dish. Very authentic. Especially when the word pyrex is imprinted into the tortilla!

Thisoldd apple tree was in the pasture when we bought the place. It gives a few apples every year. Even after pruning, it still gives a few apples every year. They do not taste very good. Probably a random seedling. But it is cool and still hangs in there. The sheep like to walk under it and scratch their backs.

I planted two longleaf pine trees today. I don't see them around here, they are more Carolinas area. But Home Depot said down to zone 7, so I'll see if they survive. Puppies are moved out to pasture now that they are eight weeks old. The best bonding time for these livestock guardian puppies is 8-12 weeks. I think being with the mother during this time helps with her instruction and correction. Two puppies are still available. Sriracha mayonnaise - with first six ingredients add 1 clove garlic, mashed, 2 Tbsp sriracha, 2 Tbsp lime juice, and an additional 1/4 tsp salt.

Eggs from a chicken house of 40,000 chickens are definitely different from a hundred or even a few thousand chickens out on pasture. But when I take an egg out of the coop and it has a chunk of poop on it, I need to get it off. If it not, I don’t. I’ve wondered how they get any poop off of eggs in Europe if they can’t wash them, even with a little plain warm water.

You learn something new all the time in farming. Our livestock guardian dogs got stuck together having sex yesterday. (No picture included with this post.) I didn’t even know that could happen, but apparently it can. I had the dogs separate to keep them from breeding. While moving the sheep and chickens to fresh pasture, the male ducked under the fence and found our female. I tried to get him to go back to where he was but the dogs were stuck together. I called my vet tech neighbor and she said yes that can happen with dogs. The remedy is to hold them still until the male can relax and then they’ll come apart. So that’s what I did and 10-15 minutes later, poof, no more Siamese dogs. It was a weird morning.

I wash them off when they need washed. In the US, they are supposed to be washed, in Europe they are not. Doesn’t make sense to me. My sister got me the stamp for the eggs.
