@nprofile…333f I beg to differ. Dismissing, what you call, "tinfoil hat" "alarmist" is why we have so many wars in our history. Acknowledging and identifying potential scenarios is knowing what to do next.
Governments hire think-tanks to do exactly that. If these things are simply "tinfoil hat" "alarmist", they wouldn't bother hiring think-tanks.
We, the ordinary citizens, are simply saying what they already analyze weeks and more likely months, ago. We're usually late and reactionary. For all we know, their actions today were based on the reports submitted by those think-tanks.
Right now, there are reports on-going reports that Saudi Arabia has placed their army on the highest alert. That Iran already blocked the Straits. Qatar and UAE are on high alert as well. And this is just in the Middle-East.
History all tells us that these escalations can easily turn into a wider conflict, and hopefully not, world war. Look at World War I, and in particular, World War II.
There were signs leading to WWII in Asia-Pacific but those were ignored and dismissed as "alarmist" "tinfoil hat". In some circles, articles, knowledgebase, it was even mentioned how there is a school-of-thought that the Manchurian Incident was the real start of WWII in Asia-Pacific. And even if it wasn't, it pushed the region towards WWII.
As we say in Filipino, "Ang hindi marunong lumingon sa pinanggalingan ay hindi makararating sa paroroonan". History is filled with examples of these "alarmist" "tinfoil hat" which were dismissed and ignored.
Have we already forgotten the revelations of Snowden? Majority, if not all, of what he exposed were classified as "conspiracy theories", "alarmist", "tinfoil hat", for years. They were dismissed and ignored until Snowden came forward. We should've learned from that. 😉

It's weird because the COMELEC branch here in Makati (used to be in the Makati Central Fire Department building) sometime early 00s, it was part of the process. The only thing that was not included was the lamination. 😅 According to them, lamination wasn't part of the budget. 🤷🏽

I'll never trust teleportation tech and transfer of consciousness to another body. There is always the question of, "is it still you you?"
Think of it this way, what if it was successful but you are also still there in your original location? Or, the consciousnesses that was supposedly transferred is also still existing in the original body?
The most logical conclusion is that the "you you" is the one in the original location or body. The person that showed up in the target location or the consciousness in the new body is not "you you".
In other words, you never really teleported or transferred consciousness!
I'd rather trust:
1. Folding space or quantum travel
2. Body regeneration or chromosome reprogramming
Because then, I know that it's still "me me".
This problem was perfectly demonstrated in the film #ThePrestige. When the "teleportation" machine did its thing, it did transfer the person in the other machine but there's a copy on the original machine.
Or, the original was left in the original machine and the one that appeared in the second machine was the copy.
So, who's "you you" in «The Prestige»? Who was original?
We will never know. Only the person who was duplicated can answer that question but of course both will answer "I'm the original!" Not because they don't want to die, rather, that's what their brain is telling them.

Hmm… ahh! It's subjective not objective.
And most especially with №4, I can't help but wonder, what if the murder of foreign tourists on India's side of the border weri traced to have come from China and the incident happened on the China-India border?
After a few weeks, whatever negootiation happened behind-the-scenes, it came down to India attacking the terrorist sites in China's side of the border, and China retaliated. Would the №4 still call India the aggressor? Or, side with them because it's China and everything China is supposedly "evil"?

And yes, of course Pakistan is not responsible. Terrorist groups are the enemies of the State their hideouts are located. We don't know if India tried to work with Pakistan, through official and back channels. We don't know if India warned them that they will strike what they believed to be the location of those terrorists, and if those intel were also provided by Pakistan.
It could very well be that Pakistan tried to resolve it but failed, and India had enough of the delays. Maybe India requested to have their special forces take out those terrorists, but understandably Pakistan refused.
In the end, India chose an excessive action. To hit the known location of the terrorists. And Pakistan considered it an act of war (obviously). But what's №4 doing? Do they know something the press is not reporting hence the one-sided judgement?

Another scam we receive here in the Philippines using US numbers: a US soldier depliyed in Afghanistan will soon be discharged, and they're planning on migrating here in the country. They are not looking for a house, they are looking for a home because they want to marry a Filipino. 😝
Sadly, a lot of people fall for that … because many Filipinos are hopeless romantics. 😅
But they can't be stopped because they're not operating in the US nor in Afghanistan.
None of these spammers and scammers operate in the country their mobile numbers came from. On the contrary, they usually operate in the country of their targets.
Trust us, we've been dealing with SMS spams and scams for 10 years now. We've seen numbers from EU nations too! 😂

For "stage" 6 and 7, consider the situation in your locality and your plans for the near future.
As an example, if I may, I skipped Step 7 (on-record diagnosis) because:
1. My immediate relatives in our clan are far too sensitive about anything psychological. I just don't want to deal with their reactions.
2. The time I had a dx, I was still planning on going to some countries as either a tourist or worker. And I found out that time that there are countries "demanding" autistics must be accompanied by an Allistic or declare a relative already in their country. Also, there are airlines and establishments which demand the same. I thought, "it's going to limit my movement if I make it official/on-record?"
3. I was thinking back then that I don't need the benefits and support, and would rather have those who actually need it to have it.
So, I chose not to put in on-record that why I am not obligated to disclose it. 😅 Of course, the catch is, if it is off-the-record/unofficial, they won't believe you and you won't be able to acquire support and special privileges if any are provided.
I'm actually considering putting it on-record now, but I have to redo the entire dx process even if I go to the same psychologist. Sadly, it's more expensive today than 10 years ago! 😔 №3 is my main consideration this time, I realized, I actually need support too. I just thought I don't need it because I've been masking all these years and failing to identify it!
Anyway, if one day you'll consider a formal dx, you can decide to make it official/on-record or unofficial/off-the-record. If your country provide benefits and support, it's something to consider too.

Subtitle translators of #Kdrama needs to be careful when translating 한강 (hangang). 한 (han) is the name & 강 (gang) means "river" so 한강 is "Han River" not "Hangang River".
It's not a tautological hydronym because in official English maps it's written as "Han River". 😁

It's starting to get tiring discussing shows in a certain online community *cough*MDL*cough* because more often that not, the people who join the discussions are emotionally charged.
I mean, remember book club meetings? We sat together to discuss the current book of the month. How did we do these discussions? We put ourselves in the shoes of the characters—what ticks them, why they do this and that, how do they think, and so on. Which in turn helped us unlock or understand the mind of the author. We don't let our own standards and emotions in. We don't look at any of it from an observer's standpoint.

I'm seeing "sus" used a lot these days but I' m not sure if it means the same way it means in #Filipino .
In Filipino, it's an expression that has existed since the 20th C. It can mean, "dismiss" (an idea/object), "meh", or "frustration". We pronounce it literally as /sus/ (/숫/) (/ᜐᜓᜐ᜔/). It originated from the expression "susmaryosep" which is the shortened form of "Hesus Marya Yosep" (Jesus Mary Joseph).

I like how they suddenly developed Juran by contrasting her with the bully. Juran is a pessimist-realist while the bully turns out to be a positive-realist. When they showed how the bully sees Jeongnyeon, it showed a complete opposite of Juran.
Then later, at the last minute, they gave justice to Juran by revealing the deeper, hidden, reason behind her decision. Her pessimist-realist "excuse" was only the surface to cover/hide her true reason.
That revelation placed the bully's positive-realist view of Jeongnyeon into a new light. Sure, she sees her differently, but at the end of the day, she's only using her to advance herself. Jeongnyeon's true friend in the end is still Juran.

I've talked a lot about Philippine English, and gave a few examples. Here's another example, but before that some context.
Philippine English is a real and recognized variant of English in the same level as American, Australian, and British English. In fact, it is a combination of those 3 variants with influences from the 200+ Philippine languages and dialects.
It is not:
1. Taglish / Englog (it's code-mixing not a language)
2. Singlish (although it is being discussed to recognize as an English variant on its own right)
3. Kinglish / Konglish (it is actually a subset of the Korean language)
Now, for the latest example.
As mentioned previously, in Philippine English, all spellings are valid. You can mix British, Australian, and American spellings in a single sentence, and it's fine.
That meant words like "color" and "colour" (both are common) mean the same thing. Or, "organisation" and "organization" (we use the latter more).
But there are some that took a life on its own. In a previous post, I mentioned how we use "center" vs "centre". Today, let's talk about "theatre" vs "theater".
When we write "theatre", we generally refer to stage plays in a theater. And a "theater" generally refers to the building/place where you watch something, like a theatre play or a movie.
It's easier to follow than "center" vs "centre", right?
* Theatre: a stage play; stage acting
* Theater: the building/place where you watch something
How about the pronunciation? The same. 😁 Although you'll probably randomly hear some say it as "thea-tre" instead of "thea-ter". It was influenced by the Spanish/Filipino word "teatro". It's not common, but you might hear it.
These two different usage of the two spellings is older than I am. By the time I was born (1982) it already is that way.
Two different spellings, the same pronunciation, but with different meanings.

The reach and influence of K-pop and K-drama / K-movie on reviving something forgotten.
The Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) and Keirsey Temperament Sorter (KTS) were popular in the late 20th Century. It was once expected to include it in your resumé or CV (Curriculum Vitae). It went on up to around 2007 but fogotten after that.
Around that time when the rest of the English-speaking world has forgotten about it, Koreans picked up MBTI (in 2008?) and it became part of their "modern" culture. It replaced knowing one's Blood Type and the Nimrod Zodiac Sign.
As "Hallyu" became a thing globally, MBTI became popular again. Many people today even assume that you're a K-pop or K-drama fan if you share your MBTI. 🤷🏽‍♂️ Which of course, as is usually the case with assumptions, is not necessarily true (often false).
The only "funny" thing about the resurgence of MBTI is that, majority—no doubt—got their MBTI from those silly free online quizzes. 😅 In other words, their MBTI is more likely inaccurate (as far as the approved exams by the MBTI Foundation is concerned of course). 😆
That's the power of the Korean [culture] wave.

I really can't find how it all started that Filipino Twitter users are migrating to The ATmosphere network. While Facebook users are in Threads (and only few actually activates their fediverse settings despite telling them how).
It's something I'm very curious about because the Philippine SNS / social media space is heavily Facebook + Twitter only for the last 20 years. Yet, somehow, in the latter half of 2024, things started to change.
What is going on?! I want to understand what triggered my kababayan to migrate, or at least, take seriously a "new" platform. And this is despite the fact that most of the people they're following are more likely than not still active in those closed-silo platforms.
The migration isn't huge, like Brazil-huge. But still, it's significant. These are not the usual "let's give it a try" crowd and then they'll disappear. They're actually using Bluesky and Threads!
The challenge is, like in Threads where we have to tell them to turn-on their fediverse setting, we have to tell ATmosphere users to follow @ap.brid.gy . 😅

The live-action adaptation of the #webtoon #OmniscientReader is going to be a #movie and not a #TV series.
I wonder if they can fit it in a movie format. The way I see it, a TV series is more appropriate. Are they going to do a trilogy?
#Netflix should do a TV series of Omniscient Reader, they can create 2–3 seasons (12 episodes each) up to the Seoul Liberation. It's a guaranteed success too, IMO.

Whoever made the mistake on #Romanization of 해리 in «나의 해리에게» ( #DearHaeri ) should take responsibility for the spread of the wrong Romanization.
"해리" is "Haeri", NOT "Hyeri" both in Revised Romanization & McCune–Reischauer.
"Hyeri" is written as "혜리" which is NOT in title and not the character's name. It can be heard clearly as "해리" ("Haeri").
Even Naver Papago and Google Translate Romanize "해" as "Hae" clearly different from "혜" ("Hye").

It is fine to see “Followers only” posts because technically, it still is “public”, just limited to their followers.
If they truly want something to be “private”, then they should use “Mentioned only” or use an e2e chat platform.
