A software I'm forced to use daily added a feature: friendly dates.
Now instead of '2025-12-12 11:58:04' it says 'About an hour ago'.
I'm sure this might work in some context, but this is in logs, where I want to see the exact point the logged thing happened, not 'a week ago'.

A ferry line I often use did this. They answered my query that it enhanced the user experience as people consider passwords 'difficult' and the 6 digit number they send via e-mail is a secure solution.
I didn't even bother replying as the stink of BS was way too pungent.

One of the worst decisions when it comes to login options is when a site decides to deprecate username+password logins and instead insists on mailing a login code every time with no other option.
Might not sound like much, but it gets really old really fast going through the e-mail waiting dance instead of just automatically logging in with long, randomized password.

I wish search engines had an option to downvote the results. I know why it isn't practical, but everything is so SEO'd that for a lot of stuff it's a lot better to try to think less obvious keywords to find the desired information.

I had a rather amusing complaint made about me to my boss on Friday.
I've been assigned to this customer since I started working in this job and they're a mom&pop shop that sells wool caps, gloves etc. small wear. In my very first encounters with this customer IRL as a small talk I accepted their offer of sandwiches and coffee and commented I hadn't had time to eat that day because a critical issue happened over my lunch time.
The customer held me a tirade about nothing being more important than learning to say 'no' to people when I needed to eat. This is something I've heeded within reason and now 7-8 years later it'd have to be end of the world for me to cancel my lunch hour.
I'm at a local Nepalese place eating, when that customer calls. Production control software can't contact label maker, so they can't make labels. It's AN EMERGENCY! THIS STUFF NEEDS TO BE SENT ASAP! I politely reply that I just sat down and I will take care of it the first thing when I return to the office.
