I wonder how it handles PSOne games
still, a nice stealth one
my ps2 slim I used a while ago came with a ripper, I bought it used
that thing let me go online with patched burned discs to pass DNAS checks

context switching, cache flushing, potential anti-cheat bans
I have a dedicated gaming box, I run my day to day stuff somewhere else, there's literally no upside in my use case

this adds latency, you could probably plug both cards into the same monitor and switch to sidestep that, but this is not the solution I need, it adds problems where there are none

why do extra work, lose a tiny bit of performance, just to… achieve exactly nothing and risk a potential ban
my gaming rig does not do much besides gaming

this would work every other day or so with anti-cheats rotating and one having pretty good VM detection

proprietary OS, running brew and having to compile everything from source, even for a language version manager and do so constantly with no upsides, macos is the real temu gentoo

2026-04-09 10:42:13 UTC

- reply

well this is temu gentoo, not the real deal
it's the heavy, slow fruit computers with overpriced PCIe-3 tier SSDs and the worst UI in existence

2026-04-09 10:33:17 UTC

security by a thousand password prompts, paranoid global lock file system, ABIs breaking as often as they can, enjoy your slow file system making the recompile slower
this is like, the toy "it just works" OS being like temu gentoo

2026-04-09 10:25:33 UTC

macos is the arch they scare you with, enjoy recompiling shit because they broke an ABI, something already set up breaks and you have to figure out the problem, and they will give you the most cryptic error message with a number and a reference to an unrelated file instead of saying "service is already running"

well from what I understand, they had the hardware finalized around the announcement, and the delays were to get the firmware into a shape where it… plays games. M64 sounds way better to me because you actually can do something with that beefy FPGA.

really, it took them this long to support THE modern N64 controller?

2026-01-28 15:34:36 UTC

holy shit, virtualboy is pretty powerful, shit ton of layers, background layers can just use affine transforms, hardware level handling of sprite parallax, and a CPU with a cache, fast enough to allow nintendo to ship an optonal c compiler with the dev kit

that is a well known phenomenon that emerges even in fairly small models

2025-10-16 21:27:24 UTC

- reply

some reasoning models can do that, my favorite mode of failure is GPT5 models getting stuck waiting for something… or repeatedly writing "sorry, I can't help with this right now" over and over in their reasoning
or you know, you could just see what cursor does with their agents refusing to start up

the based option would be to have them give you access to chinese models, they tend to be REALLY good, it feels like even openai is behind them in a lot of things.

unironically just use gpt5-mini because it's so cheap ms doesn't even meter it at all and it handles longer contexts so it can handle longer tasks

one good thing about bananza: rare nintendo title where I can switch voice acting over to japanese

2025-07-09 12:25:42 UTC

Physics are cooked on switch 2, I think this isn't supposd to happen, and is probably related to them cutting corners with how they run physics to make this game work.
This is on quality mode, performance mode is more of a curiosity, because the framerate is all over the place there to a point where the game just turns into a mess if you start moviing fast and world streaming kicks in.
