I totally and whole heartedly disagree with the "if you dont like core then fork off" mentality. That is not what makes bitcoin decentralized. What makes bitcoin decentralized is not having to agree with Core, not having to run their software while still remaining on chain.
If you create an ecosystem where if anyone disagrees with Core, they have to fork off, you've created an ecosystem where the Core team is the central authority of Bitcoin. Core is not Bitcoin, we are Bitcoin.
Regardless of whether you are in favor of the recent merge, the fact that they went against their ethos of never merging controversial PRs, this should concern you. Its only a matter of time until they decide to push something you dont like, and I dont think you should be told to fork off for disagreeing. You and I both know very well that even if a fork were to be objectibely better, it would not succeed because of Bitcoins network effect so its a nonargument.
Bitcoin is not decentralized if Cores word is final and all who disagree must fork off. That is absolutely no different from Vitalik saying ETH is not proof of stake, and all the plebs running the old version or mining eth are now on a different chain, deciding for everyone that PoS is the nee and official ethereum. It is no different if we create an ecosystem where Cores word is law and all those opposed must fork off.
I should clarify this has little to do with the content of the merge itself, but more so the act itself of pushing it, along with their totally unconcerned attitude coming off as though they really don't care whether or not Bitcoin succeeds because they got their check and thats all that matters has given me a bad taste, so its nice knowing that their are alternatives to Core while remaining on chain.
I dont even care if its the exact current code copy pasted, so long as its not managed by the current Core team.

Moving into the bus has been such a slow process, I thought I'd have a lot more money for amentaties after buying the bus but I hit so many road blocks on the journey back home, it ended up taking so long I had eaten through the whole build budget. Now I have to store my bus at an outdoor storage facility out of town and have to wait til I can save up enough for the solar generator kit I need before I can move in. I wanted to be in before June but it looks like thats not going to happen now.

There is no confusion. The only confusion it would bring about is no-coiners believing the supply increased and thus slow the process of adoptions.
You dont need to teach people that millimeters are different than meters or inches from miles.
It's such a non-issue idk why people are even talking about it. The decimal point is fine exactly where it is.

A police officer has informed me that in my city, youre not allowed to park on the street if youre over 22ft in length.
Boy is it going to be a lot harder to live in a bus while I work. I guess I'll just have to rotate parking lots for the time being until I've saved enough money to get out of here.

I agree, I started over a year ago and stopped because it was practically unusable.
Few months ago I started again, seemed like it was a bit less clunky but still only certain clients worked for certain things.
Like primal would load my feed but not allow me to post, and plebstr vice versa so id have to switch back and forth.
Now it seems Primal is working smooth as ever. Not sure what exactly changed but I'm happy to see it function better.

I'd like to hear some input from those who are smarter than me in regards to Nostr.
How does Nostr scale without becoming a honeypot for bots?
My initial thought is that perhaps there could be a way to require an account to deposit x amount of sats, and have those sats in their wallet at all times in order for their account to interact and engage.
Another option could maybe be that posting and maybe other activity could require a <10 sat zap in order to excecute, but I'm sure that wouldn't be very appealing to the users of Nostr especially considering that could one day be $1 per post.

I would love to see something like Nostr more similar to Facebook I'm a sense that it allows you to create groups for people to gather in and talk about specific topics of interest, and maybe even the ability to create private group chats.
Not sure if that's possible to do as a Nostr client or if you'd have to make am entirely new protocol but regardless I would love to see it.

when I moved into my first apartment, all I had was a floor mat for a bed which could fold up and double as a couch, a metal fold out chair, cardboard box for a coffee table and a tv.
I considered whether I should use what I had saved up for furniture, or to throw it all into bitcoin and be without furniture for a couple months.
I decided to split the difference and get the Bitcoin couch.
of course I still have my floor mat on the right, as this is a studio apartment and have no room for a bed. what you see here is essentially my entire apartment besides a kitchen, bathroom, and closet to the left.

I think I'm going to start a YouTube channel for my photography. Basically like an ASMR type format where I strap a camera to my shoulder, walk through town and snap photos, maybe with some dialog explaining my thought process.
Bitcoin content is being suppressed on Twitter and it's probably the same situation on YouTube, and that's not to say I'm going to stop making bitcoin content, it'll keep coming every Monday as usual, but I think having a second channel for photography could be a fun side project.

When I had gone thru Jackson WY, I stayed the night at a hotel in hopes of getting some sunrise photos of the Grand Tetons.
I woke up at 4am and departed at 430 and when light finally came, this is what I saw...
Complete and total overcast covering the peaks entirely.
But I tried to make the most of it by switching to black and white film and doing what I could with it.

***Story Time***
When I took this picture, it was the first morning during my road trip from California to South Dakota, but this wasn't where I intended on spending the night.
This was about 40 miles out of Elko Nevada, in the middle of nowhere, parked on the side of the road just off the highway. How I ended up here was a double blow out of my rear tires.
I was overtaking a semi doing about [[[the speed limit]]] and the moment I got ahead of him, both of my rear tires suddenly blew out.
I swerved all the way off into the shoulder, attempted to recover and swerved into the opposite shoulder.
My car was full of everything I owned, so I was heavy, and I knew if I hit the grass, it was game over. One last time I swerved back into the opposite shoulder and managed to get myself straight.
I pulled off at the next exit, saw the damage, and realizing I was in the middle of nowhere, I decided to camp out and get a tow in the morning, of course sleep didn't come easy after staring death in the face like that, but I managed to get a few hours.
Waking up to this view, I had to wonder if I was even still alive at that point and if I had died the night before.

A 1985 Quasar. It's actually the second one I ordered because the first one unfortunately got smashed to bits in the mail.
The second one I ordered, this one, shorted somewhere on the circuit board and nearly fried everything.
Lucky a friend of mine fixed it and in return I gave him the first one I ordered and he said he's going to 3d print a new case for it.
Such a unique little piece of history, it's good to see they will both continue to survive through all the torture they've gone through

I'm curious to see if anyone else is having similar issues to what I'm experiencing here in nostr.
On Primal, my feed won't load, nothing will load. (Only on mobile) However, I can still post regularly.
The other client i use for mobile is Plebstr, which loads my feed and everything just fine, but I can't post pictures.
So right now, I have to go on primal to make posts, and then go to plebster to actually see the post.
Has anyone else experienced similar issues? When I un-installed primal, it fixed it but only temporarily.

To continue on my last post, what are we accomplishing if we use this platform to just talk about Bitcoin? We're all bitcoiners.
It's like one fish telling another how much water matters to them.
Like yeah no shit, we're all in the same boat here, it's a bit of a circlejerk at that point.
We're all on the same page as far as Bitcoin on this platform so why not talk about what else you do.
Talk about your other hobbies, interests, jobs, whatever. Use it as a personal account, so then when others outside of here and outside of the bitcoin ecosystem want to contact you, you can send them here, and Nostr can accumulate more normal people.
If Nostr remains a platform tailored to Bitcoiners, its not going to go anywhere and if anything, it'll make it ripe for social conditioning operations and psyops, but i'll leave my tin foil hat off for now.

Echo chambers get really tiresome after a while... I wish nostr wasnt advertised so much as a bitcoin platform. It likely won't go anywhere if it only appeals to bitcoiners.
sure, eventually the world will adopt bitcoin inevitably, but theres a huge difference between Bitcoiners, and people who hold bitcoin.
Right now, Nostr doesnt appeal much to anyone whos not a bitcoiner. I can't see it taking off even if it was made better than every other social media platform combined, unless these other platforms had some kind of catastrophic failure.
Sure it's easier to get monetized here since anyone can send and receive zaps, but theres no market here. The money is in YouTube, Twitter, Meta, etc.
My proposed solution? People on this platform need to express their identity OUTSIDE of bitcoin, and make this their main platform.
While I do wish to work more on producing Bitcoin related media, I think im going to use Nostr as my personal account, probably focusing more on my photography.
That way when people take interest in my photos, I can send them here. Theyll see how seamless it is to get started on here, and they wont even be thinking about the bitcoin aspect. They'll just see it as the platform that that one photographer uses.

look at the bitcoin vs gold chart. its still below the highs of last cycle. thats one strong indicator. another strong indicator is the fact that the big moves historically always come the year AFTER the halving. regardless, even if the top is already in, step on is to GET OFF ZERO, asap, then from there work out a DCA, either a weekly or monthly investment you can keep going and forget about, of course keeping extra cash on the side ready for a big dip to scoop.

Gen Z and Millenials often blame Boomers for robbing us of our future and for us being priced out of owning a home.

A lot of folks on here will talk about echo chambers on the internet but the fact of the matter is that right now Nostr is a very tight echo chamber, at least for the time being but hopefully not for long.
With how it is now, though, i can't see many others having any appeal for a platform like this. It's much easier to use Twitter, all their friends are there, and it does everything they need it to do.
At this point in time, Nostr offers nothing that the average everyday person needs or even wants for a social media platform and hopefully that can change soon.
No matter how much Youtube/twitter/twitch/whatever restricts speech and pushes ads, people will continue to use it because that's where all the money is and that's where their favorite content creators are.
