I don't feel it was an accident...it was deliberately done. I'm very aware of what Israel has done. I was in a seminar where a speaker discussed terrorists acts and their impact. He was an American. He said that children were most often targeted for terrorist acts because of the sheer emotional impact. If that's not evil, I don't know what is.

Spicomellus afer, now the earliest known example of the group, would have been around 4m in length and weighed around two tonnes. The fossil is missing the end of the tail, but fused vertebrae suggest that it would have culminated in a club-like structure, presumably used as a weapon to lash at rivals or predators. This suggests that adaptations for tail weaponry evolved around 30m years earlier than previously thought.

I used to work in public health. I still mask in crowded, indoor settings. What's nuts is that people act like COVID has disappeared.
One thing I learned, years ago, is the number of idiots who think it's ok to go places, including work, while ill, and even with the flu.

Greenland fossil discovery stuns scientists and confirms that center of ice sheet melted in recent past
A team of scientists re-examined a few inches of sediment from the bottom of a two-mile-deep ice core extracted at the very center of Greenland in 1993—and held for 30 years in a Colorado storage facility. They were amazed to discover soil that contained willow wood, insect parts, fungi, and a poppy seed in pristine condition.
"These fossils are beautiful," says Paul Bierman, a scientist at the University of Vermont who co-led the new study with UVM graduate student Halley Mastro and nine other researchers, "but, yes, we go from bad to worse," in what this implies about the impact of human-caused climate change on the melting of the Greenland ice sheet.

Study finds major Earth systems likely on track to collapse: 5 things to know
The Nature study found that the four “pillars” it focused on — the Atlantic Meridional Overturning Current (AMOC), the Amazon rainforest and the vast but melting Greenland and West Antarctic ice sheets — are interconnected, like a row of dominoes.
And the risk of those dominoes toppling increases with every 0.1 degrees Celsius (about 0.2 degrees Fahrenheit) of additional heat above the red line of 2 degrees Celsius set in the Paris climate agreement, the researchers wrote.
They found that that risk is most urgent for the Atlantic current, which could tip into collapse within the next 15 years, and the Amazon rainforest, which could begin a runaway process of conversion to fire-prone grassland by the 2070s.
