Some other possibly useful context re: iPhone, satellite, and Starlink I just learned.
Apparently this is a carrier thing, not Apple. Some recent iPhones have the ability to reach out to satellites in an emergency, but I guess *which* satellites is designated by your carrier.
The Starlink change was a choice/partnership by T-Mobile. I guess TMO customers are the only ones connecting to Starlink, only in an emergency, if we leave this setting on.

I *believe* the phone never attempts to talk to a satellite unless you truly get out of range of any local cell towers, even ones off network. We might need some #infosec folks to confirm that.
There are some options in Settings > Emergency SOS (near the bottom), but none of them completely disable the feature. They only disable the extra triggers available to initiate a call when you are in various forms of distress (like hold the side + volume button to initiate a satellite call).

Looking for an iPad app to batch edit photos for blogging.
My needs are fairly basic, the main task is to constrain multiple photos to height x width resolutions and cut down on file size (Example: Limit height *and* width to 1500 pixels, but retain original ratio).

Question for #iOS folks: Is there a way to toggle my display to remain on and unlocked?
I set my iPad to lock after 5 minutes, iPhone after 2 minutes. But occasionally I want to keep the device on and unlocked indefinitely when, for example right now, I am waiting in a chat queue for customer support on my iPad, sitting next to me on my L desk while I do other stuff.
Is there a Shortcut? A Control Center widget? An obscure Siri command? Or do I have to dig into Settings every time? #Apple

On a car ride earlier today, my wife, a friend, and I discussed Bill Withers. I do not listen to him, I don’t listen to artists adjacent to him, he is not in my music library, I have never watched a YouTube video of or related to his music. And yet I turned on #YouTube just now and it recommends a Bill Withers video to me.

#Apple question: Anyone have recommendations for a simple task manager that:
- Uses iCloud for sync (No exceptions!)
- Supports multiple lists
- Can flag/star important tasks
- Has an iPad version
- Paid is fine
I already use Things 3 for personal and work stuff. But I'm trying to replace 2Do for my gaming needs, which still somehow does not support iCloud.
Yes I use a task app to track some light gaming tasks like weapons I'm hunting or quests to complete don't judge me

And that is basically the definition of sealioning, by the way: hopping into a conversation, even if well intentioned (although sealioning often isn’t), with a comment that is not actually related to the conversation.
To be painfully clear: I don’t think anyone is disbelieving your experience, and we aren’t getting into it now. It is besides the point. That conversation was/is about the challenges black people have on Mastodon, and the frustrations they’ve had in trying to fix them.

A black Mastodon user was talking about the well documented problems, hostilities, and frustrations that black users uniquely experience in the fediverse. Hopping in with “I’ve experienced racism too!” doesn’t help, and came off as if you were trying to redirect or derail the conversation away from the black experience.
