Dear Senator / Representative:
I want you to make sure all persons in DHS custody get medical care.
DHS contracts with third-party providers like doctors, hospitals and pharmacies to provide “medically necessary” care that includes “dialysis, prenatal care, oncology, [and] chemotherapy.”
DHS haled payments to providers in October 2025, triggering a severe health crisis. Why? Sen. Tommy Tuberville falsely claiming that the VA was funding ICE health care services rather than acting like a pass-through. Then an obscure nonprofit sued ICE to see the VA payment records.
This payment suspension coincides with a fivefold increase in detainee deaths and systemic denials of life-saving care.
Although payments to third parties were supposed to resume on April 30, 2026, they did not. Now they are supposed to begin sometime in May or June.
DHS has more than enough budget to make these payments and provide adequate medical care to person detained.
I want you to raise this issue within Congress. Demand hearings. Demand that the White House re-integrate the VA payment system and immediately pay those seven months of invoices. Do your job of oversight.

Please elevate the problem faced by our most critically challenged metropolitan area, New Orleans.
Southern Louisiana is facing 7 to 23 feet of sea level rise and the loss of three-quarters of its remaining coastal wetlands, which will cause the shoreline to migrate as much as 60 miles inland.
Compounding the sea level threat, New Orleans is sinking at the rate of one to two inches per year.
Even if factors contributing to rising sea levels were to magically stop today, New Orleans would still become an island within generations.
Rather than investing in more levees that will merely postpone (maybe) the inevitable, political leaders of all stripes should be supporting and encouraging a complete revamping of the New Orleans area.
It is impossible to keep an island situated below sea level afloat. There’s no amount of money that can do that.
We must begin tackling climate change impacts.
Throughout history, cities have relocated. Save New Orleans and all of its cultural history by moving the parts that can be saved and encouraging people to relocate.
I love New Orleans, but in my lifetime, I will see it disappear. Save what can be saved.

ICE is starting a new surge. I want you and your staffers visit every facility rented or use by ICE, including the temporary spaces that they occupy during this surge. I need you gearing up for oversight and ready to get loud and public.
At the May 5 Border Security Expo in Phoenix, Tom Homan said, "You will see more ICE agents than you've ever seen before, so congratulations."
I have seen what happens during those surges - massive human rights abuses. We have seen people denied access to phones, lawyers, food, and water. I have seen ICE using office bathrooms as temporary detention facilities, forcing a dozen people to sleep in close quarters on tile floors. During the Minnesota surge, they released people from detention miles from their homes, in the middle of the night in the freezing cold with no phone, no ability to call anyone, no jacket, and no shoes.
What are we going to see this time? Will we have people being released in 100 degree heat, miles from home, with no shoes? Will we see refugees and documented asylum seekers again held incommunicado for weeks despite being legally in this country?
DHS is gearing up for more abuses. They have not been held accountable for their past abuses. What will you do to hold DHS accountable?

I can't believe I have to say this, but I absolutely and completely object to allowing handguns to be mailed through the US Postal Service.
I want you to fight this new rule proposed by this Republican Administration by drafting and passing legislation that will ban forever the shipping of handguns and other weapons via the USPS. The previous law passed by Congress in 1927 banned the USPS from mailing concealable firearms unless they were from licensed dealers in an effort to curb crime. There was no logical reason for the January decision by the Department of Justice to revisit the 1927 law, call it unconstitutional, and argue that it violates the 2nd amendment.
Preventing the mailing of handguns is a logical step toward preventing unauthorized people from accessing guns. I want a person to have to show up in person at a gun shop, pass a background check, pass a firearms safety check, and prove that they have a gun safe before they can own a firearm. According to the Johns Hopkins 2025 Gun Policy Survey, these are common-sense rules that more than 70% of Americans support.

In a college religion class, a speaker of Amharic and Hebrew noted that his version of Genesis had humans “made stewards of the land.” The translation in the Kings James draft giving humans “dominion over the land” is a translation choice at the root of all of this. 35 years later, I still recall this conversation.

The Supreme Court's 6-3 decision on April 29 gutting Section 2 of the Voting Rights Act relied in large part on Justice Samuel Alito's claim that racial disparities in voting are no longer a significant problem. To support this argument, he used data from the DOJ to assert that Black and White voter turnout “reached parity in two of the five most recent Presidential elections.” There are several problems with his assertion.
The elections cited were 2008 and 2012 when America’s first Black president, Barack Obama, was on the ballot.
The trend reversed itself in the 2016, 2020, 2024 presidential elections, making Alito's claim inaccurate.
The Guardian detailed how DOJ fudged the numbers. According to Louisiana’s own voter data, white turnout exceeded black turnout in all five elections Alito referenced.
Alito’s argument rests on deliberately misleading DOJ data that no one fact-checked.
I want you to speak to the news media about this travesty. Demand documents and hearings. Hold regular press conferences. Do not let this ruling go quietly into the night like Plessy v. Ferguson (1896).
A ruling based on false data is a false ruling.

I am against the plans of this Republican Administration to make Medicare Advantage the default enrollment for Medicare, I am against the use of AI claims denial in Medicare, and I want you to fight these efforts.
Medicate Advantage costs US taxpayers 14% more than if those same people were enrolled in traditional Medicare, according to the Medicare Payment Advisory Committee.
This extra $76 billion of my tax dollars gets paid to for-profit health insurance companies. Study after study has shown that Medicare Advantage, while costing more, does not lead to better outcomes for patients.
Medicare Advantage deserves to be completely dismantled, not expanded, as does the new program to use AI for prior authorization in Traditional Medicare
Washington state hospitals say their Medicare patients are waiting two to four times longer for procedures that are now subject to prior authorization under a new Medicare program.
But this administration of Ballroom Republicans doesn't care about healthcare access or costs for ordinary Americans. Their policies show they only care about their ballroom friends and corporate profits.
I want to see you develop better policies that serve every American, not just the rich.

Top Justice Department officials declare that court rulings aren't legally binding and keep going about their business. This Republican Administration calls them “unlawful district court rulings,” saying that the administration will “continue to comply with lawful court rulings.”
You and I both know that the Executive Branch doesn't determine what is lawful. That's what courts do.
Even the Supreme Court has upheld more than half of the rulings by lower courts, particularly when it comes to rulings related to immigration policy, yet the Executive Branch continues to ignore even those ruling.
What is our nation when the Executive Branch ignores the Supreme Court and Congress lets them?
With gerrymandering now the rule, not the exception, what recourse do we citizens have?
People in my community are losing their healthcare, their jobs, and their ability to keep their families housed and fed while the rich get richer.
I want a fair nation, when the most vulnerable among us are taken care of, where everyone has a chance at success.
I want to hear your vision, and I also want to hear your plan for holding this administration accountable.

For the first time since 1946, US national debt now exceeds 100 percent of GDP, according to new Treasury Department data. As of March 31, the total debt was $31.265 trillion, while GDP from 2025 was $31.216 trillion, putting the ratio at 100.2 percent compared with 99.5 percent at the end of the last fiscal year. The US now spends $1.33 for every dollar it collects, and the budget deficit for this year is projected to be $1.9 trillion. The 100 percent milestone is a symbolic marker of a financial question looming over the US.
This Republican Administration pays attention to trifles—a ballroom, a royal visit, an Instagram post of sea shells—and not enough to the long term stability of the US economy and the consequences of their chosen war on Iran.
Republicans say they want to run the government like a business. When a business runs into debt, they work to generate more revenue.
Here is what I want -- enforcement of the existing tax code against the ultra-wealthy and corporations, a tightening of tax loopholes exploited by the ultra-wealthy and corporations, a removal of the Social Security Maximum Income Cap, and a raising of the capital gains tax.
Look at the top tax rate in the US from the years 1947 - 1957. This is where we should set the tax rate again.

I want health inspectors testing the water at ICE detention facilities. I want health inspectors present in the kitchens at ICE detention facilities. I want health inspectors looking at their medical clinics and interviewing people.
I want you to make sure that either you or a staffer visit ICE detention facilities with a local health inspector at your side at least once a month.
You have the power to investigate ICE. You have the power to push for regular health inspections. Bring health inspectors with you to force the issue in public.
Use the power of your office to shed light on the conditions in ICE detention facilities. You cannot let the abuse taking place disappear from the news cycle. Please inspect the facilities and report all your findings publicly. On behalf of your constituents, use the power of your office to defend those who have no voice and record an accurate record of what is taking place.

I am appalled that Congress left the Capitol for a week on the eve on the 1973 War Powers Act deadline for the Iran War.

This war is illegal in three ways: it violates the US Constitution (only Congress can declare war); it violates the UN Charter (which prohibits the threat or use of force except in self-defense against an armed attack); and now it violates the 1973 War Powers Act. There is no "reset" of the limit because of a ceasefire. Congress either approves the war or it doesn't.
This war has cost untold billions of dollars. I do not trust the $25 billion estimate from an Administration that regularly lies under oath to the American people. We, the United States, have killed thousands of people. The Department of Defense of this Republican Administration has expended an overwhelming number of our munitions stockpile.
I want Congress to do its job: force President Trump to end this deeply unpopular war of choice.

I want you to reverse the decision made by this Republican Government to stop funding drug test strips. These test strips - a simple strip of treated paper that can swiftly signal whether a street drug contains deadly fentanyl or other contaminants - not only save lives, they also help get people into drug treatment.
I have seen this play out in my community. A public health worker giving test strips to a person addicted to drugs is the gateway to that person receiving more help. One act of care - the giving of a test strip, telling that person that this test strip could save your life - is often the first step into treatment.
There is no data to support the claims of this Republican Administration that harm-reduction measures like test strips encourage drug use. The data shows that the distribution of test strips can stave off overdoses and encourages people who use drugs to exercise more caution. Exercising that caution, that pause before using drugs, is what allows harm reduction specialists to make positive ground with those people struggling with substance abuse.
I want my tax dollars supporting those who struggling to make ends meet, those who are struggling to keep roofs over their heads, those who are struggling with mental health and substance abuse. A rising tide lifts all boats.

I angry about the Supreme Court ruling and the standard it sets.
This decision effectively erases a key provision of the Voting Rights Act and opens the door for unchecked racism through redistricting across the country. The Supreme Court has determined that voters of color no longer have the right to a fairly drawn map—from school districts to congressional districts—and is willing to allow undemocratic, racist maps to determine our future representation.
Partisan gerrymandering IS racial gerrymandering. Packing, cracking, and otherwise undermining minority voting strength are the central tools used to achieve Republican political goals. It is how Texas Republicans reconfigured a state where less than 40 percent of its population is Anglo to achieve a congressional map where 70 – 80 percent of its districts will elect the Anglo candidate of choice over the choice of minority voters.
There can be no more business as usual.
I want every American to have a fair and equal vote.
I want you to fix this. I will do what I can in my community, but I need you lead loudly from the front. This racist effort to deny people equal representation must be reversed.
There are bills in Congress to do this. Grind Congress to a halt until every Americans has the right to fair representation.

I want you to crack down on the way this Republican Administration is creating AI fake humans to spout their talking points. I saw within an hour of the shooting this weekend, social media erupted with posts in support of a new ballroom.
AI deepfakes cause harm, and I want you to start drafting legislation to stop it the use of AI deepfakes and fake human supporters. Boys and men are creating deepfake nudes of female classmates and coworkers. Politically motivated bad actors are making both deepfakes of opposition politicians with malicious intent and creating legions of fake supporters to make people feel outnumbered.
I would like you to follow Denmark's example and change US copyright law to ensure that everybody has the right to their own body, facial features, and voice.
Everyone has the right to their own body, their own voice, and their own facial features. Changing copyright law is a simple, straightforward way to combat deepfakes and would provide fixed financial penalties that would discourage the generation of deepfakes, force social media to take down the deepfakes, and force payment to the person whose image was used.
Let's start getting serious about the harm AI is causing.

I oppose any tax or private dollars being used to build the Trump ballroom, a monstrosity that would overshadow the White House.
I strongly object to Sen. Lindsey Graham’s suggestion that Congress provide $400 million for the ballroom and fund it with “customs fees,” which is another way to say “American consumers and taxpayers.”
Graham’s comment -- “I’m convinced if there had been a presidential ballroom adjacent to the White House, the guy would have never gotten in.” – is a logical fallacy. The White House Correspondents Dinner is a private affair, not a White House one.
It would be a travesty to allow the proposed ballroom project that dwarfs the White House to proceed. At 90,000 square feet, it would overwhelm the White House, at 55,000 square feet.
I urge Congress to mandate restoration of the East Wing to its original design, consistent with the historic character of the White House complex.
I want you to hold accountable those who proceeded with demolition or construction work without proper legal authority.
To allow this project to proceed continues the trend of allowing this entire Republican administration to ignore legal processes and safeguards.

I am against increasing the national debt by $70 billion to fund ICE and CBP for the next 3+ years and I want you to use all the tools at your disposal to fight adoption of the Senate funding resolution for ICE and CBP passed Thursday morning.
The 2025 Republican budget allocated $75 billion over four years to ICE. Just 10 years ago, the ICE annual budget was less than $6 billion.

I want you to make it clear that the constitutional duty of the Department of Justice is investigating crimes, not enacting political vengeance. I want you to fight the nomination of Todd Blanche for Attorney General using every procedural tool that exists.
Blanche's recent statements - a sitting President has the right to fire attorneys for political reasons and a sitting President should use the DOJ to investigate people with whom he disagrees politically - demonstrate that he is unfit for the office.
Jimmy Carter was investigated twice by the Department of Justice while serving as president, once over his relationship with a bank and a second time related to his brother. In both instances, Carter cooperated and was cleared.
Ronald Reagan's involvement in the Iran-Contra affair was also fully investigated. Bill Clinton was investigated by federal prosecutors for nearly the entire duration of his two-term presidency.
None of these presidents ever fired the prosecutors who conducted these investigations. No one ever suggested that it would be unethical for the prosecutors to continue working at the DOJ. And no attorney general would have had the audacity to suggest that firing them was the right step to take.
Todd Blanche, Trump's personal attorney, is unfit to be the Attorney General.

Our tax dollars are flowing to already profitable companies, and it must stop.
Corporations are lining up for $166 billion in tariff refunds for costs that they passed on to the consumer.
S&P 500 companies posted record profits in 2025. Walmart posted the highest 12-month sales of any company in the world last year.
In the four states that disclose corporate SNAP data (CO, MA, IL, MI) 10,920 Walmart workers and 9,633 Amazon workers were enrolled in SNAP in 2024. Both companies generate sufficient profits to pay workers a living wage and provide full health coverage.
The Institute for Policy Studies examined 20 S&P 500 corporations with primarily U.S.-based workforces and the lowest median wages in the index. These companies employ 6.7 million Americans. At 75% of these companies, median pay falls below the Medicaid eligibility threshold for a family of three. At 13 of the 20, median pay also falls below the SNAP income threshold for a family of three.
These same 20 companies spent $32.5 billion on stock buybacks in 2024 alone. The wages of these workers could have risen from $29,087 to $59,600. Instead, median pay among the Low-Wage 20 declined in real terms from $30,474 to $29,087.
End to corporate stock buybacks. Demand living wages for all workers.

This president is spending a billion dollars a day on a war he started without evidence of a clear threat to the U.S. This president is acting, according to multiple reports, against the advice of top intelligence, senior military officers, and his vice president.
This president has issued profanity-laden threats against the leaders of other nations, including our traditional allies. He is dictating what other heads of state and religious leaders should do and not do. His open encouragement of the US military to commit war crimes is undermining the safety of the members of the US military overseas, and the safety of Americans traveling abroad.
Yet, Congressional Republicans have done absolutely nothing to deal with this president's declining ability to conduct the nation’s business. I want accountability.
I want every elected member of Congress to remember that they are supposed to serve the people, not the president.
Impeach. Now.

I object to renewing Section 702 of FISA without modifications to protect American citizens from warrantless surveillance.
Clearly the FISA Court is prone to approving requests for surveillance. There were 349,823 surveillance targets in 2025, an increase from about 246,000 in 2022. Although the targets must be foreigners, Americans get swept up in the warrantless surveillance.
The Court itself has characterized the FBI’s use of those data over several years as "persistent and widespread" violations. In 2021, there were over 3.4 million known searches on American citizens. According to the Brennon Center, these violations included “warrantless searches for information about a local political party” and searches “when two men ‘of Middle Eastern descent’ were loading cleaning supplies into a truck.”
Today we have no idea how many searches – legal or illegal – there might be because the Trump Administration has killed the tool that monitored the searches.
Section 702 of FISA needs a clear requirement that searches related to American citizens comply with the Fourth Amendment and occur only with a warrant.

I am 100% against President Trumps proposed arch. How many Washington, DC, institutions has he defaced? The White House East Wing. The Kennedy Center. The Institute of Peace. Battleships. A 250th anniversary coin.
His name on paper currency. Trump Rx. Trump Accounts. Trump Gold Cards. Banners with his name and face on government buildings. National Park passes.
Yet that’s not enough to assuage his ego.
I do not want a 250’ high, gold-accented arch that would dwarf the Lincoln Memorial and upstage Arlington National Cemetery. It also disrupts the symbolism of Arlington Memorial Bridge, which honored post-Civil War reconciliation.
It would be taller than “monuments to authoritarian triumphalism, including the victory arch in Pyongyang, North Korea,” according to the Washington Post.
When asked whom the arch would honor, Trump said: “Me.”
Unlike the controversial East Wing, this vanity project would use money from the National Endowment for the Humanities. Speak up and speak out. Oppose the NEH funding. Explore ways Congress can block this project.

I want you to support the Equal Tax Act because this country is not just for those 800 billionaires, it is for all 340 million of us.
The Equal Tax Act ensures wealthy investors pay the same tax rate on their income that working people pay on their income, by taxing investment income at the same rate as earned income for those earning over $1 million annually. It also eliminates one of the ways the wealthy avoid taxes by ending the stepped-up basis loophole with unprecedented protections for family farms and businesses.
Polls indicate 66% of voters support raising capital gains rates on the wealthy, consistent with years of polling indicating support for closing tax loopholes that benefit the wealthy (74%) and making millionaires and billionaires pay more in taxes (70%). This proposal delivers by raising significant revenue exclusively from households that have more than $1 million in annual income.
This needs to be a cornerstone policy moving ahead. Those living off the interest on their investments should not pay a lower tax rate than teachers, farmers, nurses, and firefighters.
It's the right thing to do.

U.S. Postal Service is a public service. Rural areas are home to 16% of the US population but represent 88% of the land area served by USPS. An Institute for Policy Studies report found that FedEx and UPS apply delivery surcharges to zip codes that are home to almost one-third of the U.S. population, all of them rural. USPS delivers about 1.2 billion prescription drug shipments each year; veterans receive 80% of their outpatient prescriptions via the mail.
I want you to fight the privatization of the USPS. Attempts to compare our postal system with France, Germany or the UK rest on a false geographic premise. Countries with large land masses (Australia and Canada) have public postal services.
Acknowledge that the USPS is a public good requiring public funding, just as we fund rural highways. Rationalize the post office network where genuine duplication exists in urban and suburban areas. Halt the DeJoy-era consolidation that routes local mail through regional hubs, creating delays and additional costs. Look at alternative revenue sources such as check cashing and basic financial services, particularly in rural communities and inner-city communities that have lost their local banks.
Fix the USPS budget for the good of everyone.

On April 8, AP reported that new accounts “made highly specific, well-timed bets totaling $170 million on whether the U.S. and Iran would reach a ceasefire on April 7. The bets resulted in hundreds of thousands of dollars in profits for these new customers.” Three accounts made almost a half million dollars. This mirrors bets placed on the start of the Iran War.
Traders spent $529 million on contracts tied to the timing of the initial attack on February 28. Six newly created wallets made a profit of $1.2 million by correctly betting that the U.S. would strike Iran by that date. One account turned $61,000 into almost a half million.
Earlier this year, a Polymarket account earned almost $500,000 from a $38,500 investment in contracts tied to the capture of Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro. Its largest trades were placed merely hours before the secret military action became public.
Current insider trading law only covers securities. Federal wire fraud statutes do not apply. And the primary Commodity Futures Trading Commission anti-fraud device for commodity derivatives also does not apply.
Work with your colleagues to sponsor effective legislation.

New rules for the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) mean we now need legislation that specifically requires the performance of disparate impact analysis to seek out examples of lending discrimination.
I want you to require the CFPB to conduct regular examinations of the algorithms, zip code filters, and loan approval rates of banks and other lending institutions to see how these approvals break out along racial and gender lines.
This used to be the actual job of the #CFPB, but this Republican Administration just stripped disparate impact analysis from the Equal Opportunity Credit Act. Under the new rules, lending discrimination would only be considered to exist done deliberately and documented, like saying "no, because she's a woman" or "no, because he lives in a poor neighborhood" on the application.
Banks and lenders were held accountable if their policies disproportionately harmed women, people of color, or low-income borrowers. That's how the CFPB caught banks redlining and locking entire communities out of homeownership and credit.
The CFPB is abandoning its legislatively mandated mission to ensure credit markets are fair and free of discrimination and I need you to fix this. I need you to codify the examination of potential lending discrimination into law in ways that protect all Americans.

I am appalled by gutting of the US Forest Service. This Republican Administration has announced that it is shuttering all 10 regional offices, and with them,the career professionals who spent entire lifetimes earning the expertise and the authority to push back on ideas that would harm long-term forest health.
They are closing the rural science research facilities in 31 states, labs that house decades of irreplaceable science on the forests that help generate the rain that falls on the US. And they’re replacing all of it with 15 political appointees called “state directors,” embedded in state capitals alongside the very governors, legislators, and industry lobbyists who have spent their careers demanding that the Forest Service log more and protect less.
The technical experts they are losing are the people who know exactly what logging will ruin what watershed.
I am asking you to stand with every member of Congress and uphold the legacy of Theodore Roosevelt with legislation that keeps science and the public at the forefront of decision-making about public lands. Protect National Forest land.

I see what this Republican Administration says about the SAVE Act. They call it a simple law that sets a clear standard for verifying U.S. citizenship in federal voter registration and a requirement of photo identification for voting, while allowing states flexibility in implementation.
The SAVE Act would disproportionately make it difficult for specific people to vote:
-Women who changed their names after marriage, who would have to secure updated documentation to register to vote.
-Military families, who would have to re-register every time they move, sometimes very close to an election day.
-Disaster survivors, who lost documents in disasters and face burdensome hurdles to replace them while rebuilding their lives.
-Poor people, who are more likely to have jobs without significant paid-time-off (thus requiring that they miss work to obtain necessary documents) and who lack the extra money needed in some cases to procure copies of birth certificates or naturalization papers.
This Republican Administration acts like voting is a privilege, but it is a foundational right specified in the Constitution.
Vote no on the SAVE Act. Actively persuade your colleagues to do the same.
Make your colleagues in Congress look you in the eye when you ask them why they support a law that would disenfranchise millions.

The Constitution clearly assigns the power to declare war to Congress, an authority that the President intentionally ignored. When a president goes around Congress to initiate military action, it is not a sign of strength. It is executive overreach and dangerous to Americans, both domestically and abroad.
Congress must immediately assert its constitutional role, demand transparency, and reaffirm that decisions of war and peace cannot rest with one individual.

And this is the problem: we live in this world full of amazing beauty and spectacular creatures.
There is ample water and ample food and yet some who walk among us choose to wage war against their neighbors or against the very land that nourishes them.

President Trump’s Medicare director said last week that his team is considering a policy that would automatically enroll Medicare beneficiaries into Medicare Advantage plans, an idea first rolled out in the Project 2025 roadmap of this Republican Administration.
I want you to push back hard on this idea and fight it with every bureaucratic tool at your disposal.
Medicate Advantage costs us taxpayers 14% more than if those same people were enrolled in traditional Medicare, according to the Medicare Payment Advisory Committee.
Yes, you're reading that correctly -- Medicare itself is telling you that Medicare Advantage costs more. This extra $76 billion of my tax dollars gets paid to for-profit health insurance companies. Study after study has shown that Medicare Advantage, while costing more, does not lead to better outcomes for patients. All Medicare Advantage does is put the money I am paying in taxes into the pockets of health insurance shareholders and CEOs.
Right now, Americans have a choice between Traditional Medicare and corporate, profit-driven Medicare Advantage.
Medicare Advantage costs more and it doesn't result in better patient outcomes. It should be cancelled completely, not made the default enrollment.
Fight this.

I saw the Treasury Department’s consolidated financial statements for fiscal year 2025: $6.06 trillion in total assets against $47.78 trillion in total liabilities as of September 30, 2025. That $47.78 trillion in liabilities does not include the unfunded obligations of Social Security and Medicare. Those are disclosed separately in the off-balance-sheet Statement of Social Insurance.
Our total liabilities are now nearly eight times the value of our assets. The largest drivers were a $2 trillion increase in federal debt and interest payable (now $30.33 trillion) and a $438.8 billion increase in federal employee and veteran benefits payable (now $15.47 trillion).
I want you to convene a panel led by Elizabeth Warren and Mitt Romney to hash out a reasonable economic plan that serves all Americans.
Congress could also pass the bipartisan Fiscal Commission Act, sponsored by Rep. Bill Huizenga, Rep. Scott Peters, and 41 co-sponsors. Such a commission would force a public reckoning with the facts, the trade-offs, and the hard choices that restoring fiscal health requires.
We cannot cut our way to solvency. We must increase revenue by taxing the wealthy fairly and lifting the Social Security income cap. These are not radical ideas. They are the responsible ones.

I am very concerned about the recent Congressional Budget Office report that the trust fund that pays for Medicare Part A is on schedule to be entirely exhausted by 2040.
This Republican Administration significantly reduced the revenues the trust fund normally receives from taxing Social Security benefits in their budget bill from last year. This Republican budget both lowered tax rates and established a temporary deduction for taxpayers age 65 or older. And while voters like paying less in taxes, I don't think many people realized that cutting their taxes would entirely defund the Medicare safety net of critical future funding.
I want to hear your plan for keeping Medicare solvent.
How will you fix this?
I support sending IRS investigators to recoup taxes that the ultra-wealthy should be paying but don't. I support closing tax loopholes for corporations.
Please consult with Elizabeth Warren on all the possible places where this government could generate additional revenue, then make it happen.

There is a bipartisan agreement to fund the Transportation Security Administration. President Trump said he wouldn’t sign it. Fine. I want you to pass it with a veto-proof majority.
Do not take the President’s “no” as a reason to stop urging colleagues to support a TSA budget. Yes, it will take a vote in both chambers. Yes, it will take a super-majority to override a veto.
It’s time.
Americans prefer that their public servants be paid for the work that they do to make the world run more smoothly. A clean TSA funding bill serves both desires.
I do not approve of the move to send ICE agents into American airports.
Somehow, this Republican Administration believes sending agents with no airport security training into airports will help relieve pressure on TSA. The pressure is the result of Republicans demanding that any budget for DHS include ICE, and Democrats asserting ICE needs no more funds as it has its own multi-year dedicated monies from the 2025 budget bill.
Americans overwhelmingly do not approve of the President’s mass deportation force and its tactics. According to Pew Research, two thirds think the agency has “gone too far.” Half of Americans told You.gov that ICE should be abolished.
Fund TSA. Make ICE follow the law.

"Mail-in voting means mail-in cheating. I call it mail-in cheating, and we got to do something about it all," the President said Monday.
President Trump cast his ballot in the Tuesday Florida special election by mail.
The White House claim that “universal mail-in voting should not be allowed because it’s highly susceptible to fraud” is unsupported by any research, even from conservative organizations like the Heritage Foundation.
The House-passed SAVE Act 2.0 would make it harder for eligible voters to register and to cast a ballot. The additions that President Trump has demanded the Senate implement to the SAVE Act would make it even harder to vote and almost impossible to vote by mail. Managing elections is the Constitutional right of the states, not the federal government.
Vote No on the SAVE Act. Persuade your colleagues to vote no. Be loud and speak out in public forums: press conferences, social media, the Senate floor. Remind your colleagues that most Americans support expanded early voting and voting by mail. Don’t pass a bill that will result in a long and costly (to taxpayers) court fight that ultimately cannot win.

I saw the new report from the Penn Wharton Budget Model that says Social Security is six years from insolvency. Their dynamic model says the way to boost GDP and surge private capital is to cut Social Security benefits to seniors now and cut them aggressively.
I am here to say NO to that.
The 7% of Americans who make more than $176,100 a year can afford to pay more.
Please draft legislation to lift the Social Security income cap. People making more than $176,100 have plenty of money to pay more taxes. Getting rid of the cap would leave Social Security solvent for decades to come. Frame it as the patriotic duty of the top 7% of earners.
The current Republican budget, combined with the war this Republican Administration just started, is pushing this country into insolvency. The massive growth in the national debt is accelerating the timeline at which cuts to Social Security, Medicare, and more cuts to Medicaid will be required. Major cuts to these programs would be triggered by the Statutory Pay-As-You-Go (PAYGO) Act of 2010, which requires mandatory across-the-board spending cuts if Congress passes legislation that increases the federal deficit.
I think Republicans want to trigger these cuts.
Now is the time to push legislation to remove the social security income cap.

I urge your immediate intervention regarding the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts and the Board’s recent approval of the President’s request to shut down the center for renovation.
The Kennedy Center requires no structural overhaul. Congress provides its capital and maintenance budget annually ($32–$43 million) and would be aware of any such needs. Moreover, neither the President nor the Board has provided a public, independent analysis of the building. Demand Congressional oversight and input.
I urge you to insist that Congressionally designated board members like Representative Joyce Beatty and Senator Mark Warner be included in all board meetings and provided all board information as well as be allowed to vote. The board should be bipartisan; it is no longer. Congress created this memorial, and it should have active and meaningful Congressional oversight. I urge you to co-sponsor or introduce legislation reaffirming Congressional authority over the Center's governance, design and maintenance without delay.
The Kennedy Center deserves to remain what Congress intended: a dignified, solemn memorial and cultural institution for all Americans -- not another project designed primarily for personal glorification.

I strongly oppose the statement by Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth that “[w]e will keep pushing, keep advancing, no quarter, no mercy for our enemies" because I do not want our nation to commit war crimes.
Legally, "no quarter" means that enemy combatants cannot be taken prisoner: they are to be killed rather than permitted to surrender. We have already crossed this line by sinking the Iranian frigate IRIS Dena after it had participated in India's MILAN 2026 naval exercises. Only 32 survived and that was because the ship was within Sri Lanka's designated search-and-rescue zone.
Such a declaration is expressly prohibited under international law, including the Geneva and Hague Conventions. If undertaken, it would be a war crime punishable under the War Crimes Act of 1996 (18 U.S.C. 2441). The Department of Defense Law (DOD) of War Manual adopts international law, including Article 23 of Hague IV Regulation, expressly stating it is "forbidden to declare that no quarter will be given.”
Neither a formal declaration nor a proper authorization has occurred. So this statement is not only contrary to law and the DOD Law of War Manual
I urge you in the strongest terms: call out the Secretary of Defense on his rhetoric and actions. Subpoena him. Do it sooner rather than later.

I have heard multiple ideas from different members of this Republican Administration.
What exactly is the end goal? How will we know when it is reached?
They said they've destroyed Iran's military and nuclear complex, but we're still bombing. They killed Iran's previous leaders, but we're still bombing.
All that is left is bombing and hoping that the Iranians rise up. But hope is not a viable military strategy. Neither is spontaneous "rising up."
I have read my Theda Skocpol and I understand what goes into a social and political revolution. I know that "rising up" is a complex undertaking that requires a cohesive opposition organization to mobilize and unite a plurality of the 92 million people of Iran.
I understand that there are things that sometimes can only be said in a classified briefing. I want you to press for a clear and coherent explanation of the end state for Iran.
We elected you to be our proxy. Learn the truth and tell us that there is a plan in place.
Because it looks like this Republican Administration is bombing Iran until the entire world is engulfed in war.

I oppose any suspension of the federal gas tax, including legislation such as the Gas Prices Relief Act, as a means of offsetting the economic burden of this Republican Administration's war in Iran. I likewise oppose lifting any sanctions on Russian oil.
If Congress believes (as I do) that this war imposes an excessive burden on Americans, Congress should end the war. Only Congress may declare war, and only Congress may fund it. Neither a formal declaration nor a proper authorization has occurred. Suspending the gasoline tax does not address that constitutional failure; it subsidizes indecision.
Focusing on gas prices minimizes the stakes. The closure of the Strait of Hormuz affects the entire global supply chain of critical materials including industrial sulfur as well as, copper, and cobalt, two materials essential to electric vehicle batteries and semiconductors. One-third of the world’s nitrogen fertilizer passes through the Strait.
Suspending the 18.4-cent-per-gallon federal gasoline tax is theater. It does not address the scale of disruption and papers over Congress’s responsibility to make a clear decision about the war itself.
Do not sign or vote for a suspension of the federal gasoline tax. Do not lift sanctions on Russia. Address the war directly. Your constituents are watching.

Attorney General Bondi dismissed Gale Slater, head of the DOJ's Antitrust Division. This would be the company's third consent decree since 2010, which raises serious questions about whether settlements are an effective remedy.

I want the Antitrust Division to have the independence and resources it needs to fulfill its mandate.

Americans who have changed their name would be required to secure updated documentation to register to vote. 8 in 10 married women have changed their surname, meaning they do not possess a birth certificate that matches their current legal name and, could not present it as valid proof of citizenship. 69 million American women who lack the paperwork that reflects their current name.
Under this law, people would have to "re-prove" their right to vote every time they moved or every time redistricting moved their precinct boundaries, adding significant work to local elections officials who already are grossly underfunded and overworked.
People who lose their documents in a flood, fire, or other disaster likewise would be denied the right to vote under this law until they can procure new documents, a timely and often expensive process.
I want elections to be free, fair, and accessible for all eligible Americans. Noncitizen voting is a non-problem. Even the Heritage Foundation admits that. Don't vote for the SAVE Act in any form.

But every aspect of funding in support of the arrest, detention, and deportation of people needs to be stopped until fundamental reform of all their operations takes place.
In 2025, the DHS Office of Civil Rights and Civil Liberties investigated only 3% of complaints filed, as compared to 20% of complaints investigated in 2024. This office had a staff of 147 in January 2025. It is now staffed by 40 people.
The Office of the Immigration Detention Ombudsman, which reviews immediate detention-related problems, currently only employs five people, down from 118 at the start of 2025. The DHS official in charge of this office, Joseph Guy, had not heard of the office before he became its acting director. He also had never seen the manual that outlines the standards used to manage conditions in immigration detention centers, according to his deposition of December 3, 2025.
Please, do not give CPB and ICE a budget.
This system is designed to cover up abuse. The for-profit companies charged with running these facilities have no incentive to behave in a reasonable and ethnical manner. The oversight offices are gutted.
You have the power to fix this. Please use it.

I want you to sponsor and pass legislation to reverse Rule 10b-18 of the Security and Exchange Commission, the rule that allows companies to buy their own stock, thus driving up the value for shareholders while leaving workers with nothing.
We are living in shareholder‑only capitalism, a system that treats workers and communities as resources to be extracted from.
Stock buybacks were illegal throughout most of the 20th century because they were considered stock market manipulation. But in 1982 under President Reagan, the Securities and Exchange Commission passed rule 10b-18, which created a legal process for buybacks and opened the floodgates for companies to start repurchasing their stock en masse. This money, which used to be passed on to the employees as higher salaries and investment in new products or research, now drives up stock value for CEOs and stockholders.
CEO pay has surged more than 900% since the late 1970s while average worker pay barely moved. The odds of someone born poor rising to the top quarter of wealth distribution have fallen from about one in four in the 1970s to roughly one in 20 today.
SEC Rule 10b-18 is a key driver of this inequality. American business functioned perfectly normally and quite successfully before this rule passed. They will survive without it.

I want you to end the terror DHS is inflicting, stop the preventable deaths in DHS custody, and impose real accountability on the private, for-profit companies operating these facilities. The departure of the previous DHS Secretary is important, but it does not solve the systemic cruelty built into the DHS system.
On Wednesday, a legal asylum seeker from Haiti died while in DHS custody in Arizona.
Mr. Damas entered the country legally in February 2024 through a program for Haitian immigrants. ICE took him into custody in Boston in September 2025 while his asylum request was on appeal. ICE transferred him from Boston to New York to Texas to Arizona, where he spent the last four months of his life.
He first complained of tooth pain in mid-February and was given ibuprofen. He was finally taken to a hospital last week; another detainee notified his family in Boston.
Damas was the 10th person to die in ICE custody in 2026, fewer than nine weeks into the year.
Dismantle DHS. It is too corrupt, too enmeshed with the corporate prison industry, and too lawless to exist.
No one should die from a toothache in U.S. government custody. Your constituents are watching — and waiting for an answer.

I do not want my surgeon general to be a vaccine skeptic, and Means repeatedly refused to answer a direct question about whether she would encourage mothers to vaccinate their children against measles.
Herd immunity is a public good, one that helps ensure the health of every American. We need a surgeon general who understands and honors this.
Tell your colleagues on the Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee to vote no on her nomination. Should the committee nominate her for surgeon general, then I expect you to loudly and actively oppose that nomination.

DHS continues to kill people, and DHS continues to lie about the people they kill, expressing no need for any change in their procedures. I see regular reports of abuse, beatings, and medical neglect. I see the continued videos from Minnesota -- people released from DHS detention in the dark, in the cold, their phone confiscated, with no way to reach home. I saw the story of the nearly-blind refugee DHS killed in Buffalo.
Cruelty is the point of their policies, and I do not want my tax dollars supporting it.
Every concentration camp they build is a scar on this nation.

Please vote no on HJ 140, the resolution to open an area near the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness to mining using the Congressional Review Act (CRA).
A 2022 report concluded that mining could cause irreversible harm to the ecosystem and the nearby National Forest and Voyageurs National Park.
In 2023, the Biden Administration protected the area from mining for 20 years via Public Land Order 7917. It also banned sulfide-ore copper mining on 225,504 acres of nearby Superior National Forest land. If this resolution goes forward in the Senate, it means that no public land protection order is beyond congressional reach.
The Trump Administration wants to grant mining leases to Twin Metals, a Chilean mining company owned by Antofagasta PLC. The company has a 100 percent track record of toxic pollution, and there is no guarantee that the materials mined in this area would remain in the US, as Antofagasta has long-standing Chinese clients.
The Boundary Waters draws more visitors each year than any other wilderness area and supports a multi-billion-dollar outdoor economy.
Vote no on H.J. Res. 140.

I want to hear your plan to fix the problems facing this country. The way we move forward is by clearly articulating the problem and proposing bold, detailed, budget-based solutions.
Make it clear that your allegiance is to the voters, to fact-based studies, and to solutions that serve the majority of Americans I want you putting people first, not corporations.
Corporations are not people, and we need laws that make it clear that corporate interests will no longer rule. Laws allowing corporate stock buy-backs (considered illegal before the Reagan years) enrich the corporation, not the workers. CEO pay skyrockets while worker wages are stagnant. This is an easy fix that would benefit nearly every American.
A national healthcare program would save money for both the government and the people, as corporate insurance companies and for-profit healthcare providers extract tens of billions a year for their CEOs and shareholders.
Collecting the taxes corporations and the ultra-rich owe should be a bipartisan issue. They owe taxes that already exist, but the enforcement arm to go after them has been cut, so they don't pay.
Wanting a robust democracy in which everyone has an equal voice and equal representation is not partisan. Take a strong stand against corporate interests and corporate welfare. Stand with the people.

This Republican Administration is proposing changes to the 340B Drug Pricing Program and I want you to get very vocal about why the proposed changes are a bad idea.
Right now, hospitals, community health centers, and other 340B program participants get chemotherapy drugs and other high-cost pharmaceuticals at a discount.
This Republican Administration wants to change the rule such that program participants would pay full price for covered medications up front, then receive a rebate from manufacturers later, after submitting paperwork.
Why on earth should this Republican Administration put more bureaucratic hurdles between patients and their needed medications? How many more admin staff positions would a hospital need to hire to manage the rebate paperwork?
Talk to the rural hospitals in your state -- they will tell you that requiring them to pay full price up-front will leave many of them on the verge of bankruptcy. They will tell you that hiring additional staff to do the bureaucracy required to get the reimbursement will put them on shaky financial footing.
Make it clear that you stand with the doctors and the patients. Please get loud on both social and conventional media about what this change would mean for your constituents.
Then make sure they do not change the 340B program.
