You're one of the most sincere Christians on here and I think you're a lovely person who people can learn a lot from, but the KJV is really not the gold standard for understanding Scripture. Ignoring obvious verses like Luke 1:28 which have been studied to death, the KJV simply doesn't have any objective standing to claim supremacy over other texts. We can have debates about the Masoretic texts and Textus Receptus, but I think the KJV focus is kind of off-putting for those who speak modern English, ignoring how parts of it are simply not translated well.
I know we disagree on some doctrines but I think there is probably some value in agreeing on either a common interpretation or the allowance of varied translations. I know the KJV has a strong hold in American Protestant tradition but there are faults. I don't think it's worthless or invalid, but there are too many issues with it to insist that we simply stick with that translation without a good reason. I'm happy to use the KJV as long as I'm being critical of the translation, but to say it should be taken literally by all Christians invites scandal once they crack open the history of manuscripts or get challenged by Christians with scholarly backgrounds.

I've responded to a lot of car accidents and motorcycle crashes. The car accidents are usually minor. I have never been on a motorcycle accident where someone didn't lose a limb, get medevac'd via helicopter, or at best get carted away for 6 months of physical therapy in the hopes they might ever walk right again.
And people are stupid, they'll cut off motorcycles. You're not taking your life into your own hands, you're putting it in the hands of Karen who has had half a box of Franzia. Not for me.

I'm not sure which priests you're talking to but the CCC states very clearly (para 493 here): https://www.vatican.va/content/catechism/en/part_one/section_two/chapter_two/artcile_3/paragraph_2_conceived_by_the_power_of_the_holy_spirit_and_born_of_the_virgin_mary.html ) that she did not sin during her life. It's not de fide/dogma, but it is the historic teaching which individuals are generally bound to believe.

It's more fundamental. We certainly believe Mary, being specially chosen in a way that differs from the others you mentioned, holds a special place. Moses disobeyed God and was punished, etc. Mary was bestowed with an ongoing grace prior even to Christ's conception, in a way that is unique to her. She held Him within her womb. But that doesn't get to the heart of why this is a futile discussion.
Abandoning the practice because someone thinks they have a better way of thinking about things just isn't how we work. It's the same with the other saints.
We aren't going to stop changing what we've been doing for the entire recorded history of the Church, any more than we are going to add some new books to Scripture, or take some out. Someone can point out that a particular church father or two thought Mary was vain or sinful, just like someone can say that a particular church father denied the canonicity of Revelation. But the overwhelming opinion of the saints, and the councils we rely on, give us no reason to reconsider either position.

Right but we were selling replacement parts before that and it always seemed US- initiated. By 1985 Israel was seeing Iran as a proxy to fight Iraq.

Oh I thought you were specifically talking about the F-14 parts sales. That eventually spun off into Iran-Contra in a way but I've never seen strong evidence Israeli initiated it. It seemed consistent that we wanted them kept in the Western sphere at least enough to stay out of Soviet (and Israeli) wars in the region. Open to reading anything you have on it. I've always understood Israel's role to be passive until they started seeing it as a way of indirectly hurting Iraq in the mid 80s, whereas the F-14 parts sales were happening by '81

Back then there was a little more equity in our dealings with Israel. They'd do shit like make nukes without permission or try to kill our diplomats, but we would take advantage of their position for our own goals too, because the region mattered back then. Israel sending parts and equipment to Iran was more likely something they did as a favor for us, which we paid them for. We wanted Iran stronger, to keep it out of the Soviet attempt to gain control in the Middle East. Remember, Israel and Iran didn't really hate each other until the early 90s. Iran never interfered in Lebanon or anything like that the way Syria did.

The 30% thing is a meme
https://royalsocietypublishing.org/doi/abs/10.1098/rspb.2013.2400
"Using two independent methods, we estimate that over the last few centuries, EPP rates in Flanders (Belgium) were only around 1–2% per generation. This figure is substantially lower than the 8–30% per generation reported in some behavioural studies on historical EPP rates, but comparable with the rates reported by other genetic studies of contemporary Western European populations."
https://www.nature.com/articles/hdy201536
"The rate of cuckoldry in this Western population was 0.9% (95% confidence interval 0.4–1.5%), and we argue that given the current data on historical populations we have to conclude that, at least for Western human populations, cuckoldry rate is probably in the range of 1%."
https://link.springer.com/article/10.1007/s12110-012-9143-y
"Given this number of exclusions, a maximum likelihood estimate of the nonpaternity rate in the population of 0.94% was obtained with asymptotic 95% confidence limits of 0.33% and 1.55%, respectively. This result is in accordance with recent surveys as well as findings from Switzerland for a comparable sample, and it suggests that earlier estimates of the nonpaternity rate which were often in excess of 10% may have been largely exaggerated."

Romans 2:14-15 - Indeed, when Gentiles, who do not have the law, do by nature things required by the law, they are a law for themselves, even though they do not have the law. They show that the requirements of the law are written on their hearts, their consciences also bearing witness, and their thoughts sometimes accusing them and at other times even defending them.
