If you haven't heard, data centers are LOUD.
That's the thing though, they are mostly LOUD in frequencies inaudible to the human ear.
Low frequencies also travel much further have high penetration so putting walls between the data center doesn't help much.
With data centers cropping up all over the US, they sometimes get plopped down near neighborhoods.
What could POSSIBLY go wrong?

You could get away with 8GB of ram, install zram on debian for RAM compression to get double usable memory with default settings.
16GB of physical memory would be ideal though, :windows: is memory hungry & it's likely as Win11 ages it'll be demanding more ram.

Confirmed functional on Debian 13 + Sway.
Always solid to have more map options for desktop Linux. 🐧
Personally I'm not a fan of flatpak, but this certainly is a more sane option & doesnt feel out of place on the desktop compared to using Waydroid containerizing + running comaps through that.

Agreed, I would imagine the goal would be to expand to have offline routing/planning.
Check back in 2 years, heh-heh.
Though I imagine by then either a solution pops up or maybe comaps devotes some time on a desktop client.

Ah, Gnome is currently in a draft process for offline maps.

I'm unsure what you could try other than give Waydroid a try and run fdroid+comaps within an android container.
This would be tad bit technical to setup, hardware acceleration functions with Intel+AMD GPUs but not Nvidia & kind of cpu intensive way to go about running offline maps.

gnome-maps powered by OpenStreetMap?
It functions fairly smooth on low powered devices, I don't think I've seen it crash once.
I only got a couple of hours of experience with it though.

I find the middle click mildly cursed, useful but needs to be respected.
I could see how someone who is sick of typing their password 16 times for updating a single app via flatpak remotely via SSH (bug) so a stupid simple work would would be copying your password & paste it a bunch of times.
Say you have an old Logitech G9X mouse that doesn't take much pressure while using the wheel to press the middle click.
Not that its been a problem for me, but I think bad scenarios exist.

I knew middle click pasted, but just learned what it pasted.
Since making the move to Linux in '16, everyonce in awhile was getting what I thought was odd behavior by using middle click so I moved purely ctl-v.
Come to find out highlighting with no copy command plus middle click paste will paste what is highlighted.
I personally find that cursed behavior, but I can see how its useful to reduce total overall actions.
Today I learned.
