I don’t believe you can get rich by working for someone. Depends on the definition of rich as well. 1MM cited cannot even get you a home in some places. It depends. Again, people in tech companies who benefit from stock options are outliers. I advocate for working for yourself, on your own terms. Everything else is just brainwashing.

USA is an outlier. It‘s the strongest world economy where people are also obsessed with work. Less vacation days compared to Europe, for example. People answering emails on vacation, etc. I’m not saying that it’s bad to work hard, but a lot of those people are miserable, and a lot of that work is meaningless. But I’m getting off-topic.

The lesson here (and elsewhere) is to be independent. Here (and elsewhere) there are challenges that people face, so not many do, but you can do it. It might require giving up some convenience or investing some money. But in general the whole AI industry is for big boys, telling everyone else what to do. There are projects on distributed model training, but they are not successful because they require people contributing, while the majority wants convenience.

Yes. There are other examples of that in schools: long hair for boys, asking to dye hair black in Japan (because most of Japanese have black hair), having braids as a person of color in the US. That post stood out to me because I had a negative experience at school because a teacher didn’t like my appearance. I really hope that it is not the case in your classes. It’s especially difficult with teachers and students because of the generational gap. I’m sure you’re a lovely person, I just wanted to share my perspective.

Of course you can have your own opinions. But the question that I find interesting is why. You don’t get the same reaction to people wearing jeans or shorts, I’d assume. Both of these might be considered inappropriate in some schools. But often inappropriate means just something that you’re not used to.

I think you’re missing the point. The answer is that they decided to do so. It’s no one else’s business. There is a subtle subtext here that this is inappropriate. But it’s no different from other situations where other people decide to tell others what to do. It’s all the same.

I have the same initial reaction because I’m old-fashioned. But then I think about it for a second and realize it should not bother me. It doesn’t affect me or people around that person in any way. So it should be allowed. It’s no different than telling people what to do or think. As someone who has libertarianism as interests in the bio, you should understand.

This oversimplifies everything and misses the point. People “fight” because they disagree on something. There is only 1 Bitcoin network, so they need to reach consensus to decide what happens to Bitcoin. Everyone cannot agree on everything all the time. Some of these decisions are also very important. If you make a wrong decision, you can undermine the network. There are also people who run campaigns to influence public opinion and mislead non-technical users.
