🚨As EU Commission puts out options to restrict trade with Israeli settlements, we are today releasing our full proposal to ban such trade.
We show how the EU can concretely design & implement it – and why it's legally necessary.

40+ legal scholars say the EU has a duty to end trade with Israel's illegal settlements and can do so with a qualified majority of member states. No unanimity is needed.
EU Commission must stop dragging its feet and table a proposal @npub128d…mmat @npub1hm5…5e2a

Spotted at EU Commission HQ today.
EU hosting a "high-level" meeting on antisemitism with a government committing atrocities that has used this term as a slur to attack EU's own member govts incl. Spain & Ireland, as well as UN & ICC, thus completely distorting its meaning.

Meanwhile Germany:
1) opposes EU sanctions on Smotrich, suggesting to limit focus on Ben-Gvir only (see below).
2) opposes international law-based efforts to curb EU trade with the illegal settlements promoted by Smotrich “to kill the idea of a Palestinian state”

While the EU still wavers over whether it should stop trading with Israel’s settlements or just keep issuing statements on their illegality, Israel rams through EU’s red lines on settlement expansion and displacement of Palestinians

This of course turns the reality on its head. It is the 2002 Arab Peace Initiative that “held (and still holds) the potential for expanded regional integration that would support and include Israeli-Palestinian peace”. Backed by 57 Arab/Muslim countries. 1/4

Israel quadruples its budget for international propaganda to $730m.
That’s around the same as the entire EU Commission humanitarian aid to Gaza since Oct 2023, the largest donor of such aid (~€650m). https://forward.com/fast-forward/821680/israel-just-quadrupled-its-pr-budget-to-730m-experts-say-it-wont-work/

EU threatens sanctioning Israelis over importing Ukrainian wheat stolen by Russia.
Ok, but the same EU has been importing Israeli settler products from stolen Palestinian land for decades, with no sanctions. https://www.haaretz.com/israel-news/security-aviation/2026-04-27/ty-article/.premium/eu-mulls-sanctions-on-israelis-over-stolen-ukrainian-wheat-smuggled-from-russia/0000019d-cfd5-d24a-a59f-efdfc3b50000?utm_source=App_Share&utm_medium=iOS_Native

Kaja Kallas: Excluding Israel from Eurovision would be "mistaken" & "punish the Israeli people" -- but the EU will cut funding to the Venice Biennale because Russia's participation is "morally wrong" while it "bombs museums, destroys churches and seeks to erase Ukrainian culture"

Time to ask who is the original source of the manipulated video of @npub1ypw…mmvz that several European governments jumped on to demand her resignation?
It appears to come from pro-Israel propagandist @npub1r9z…24rk, executive director of @npub1sh5…2tm3. (Says also Grok.👇)

Members of European Parliament, do you remember how the majority of you voted last year to “strongly condemn Hamas’ hijacking and looting of aid”, despite lack of evidence, as a way to “bothside” the humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza?

🧵One important omission in the EU options presented to Foreign Ministers.
It claims banning EU imports from Israeli settlements requires unanimity as a sanction and fails to mention the possibility of doing so by qualified majority as a trade measure - as if hiding that option.

EU foreign ministers & ⁦@kajakallas⁩ this Monday: Let's park the discussion on any EU measures of pressure on Israel despite its breach of the Association Agreement, our first focus should be on dialogue with Israel to help get humanitarian aid into Gaza.

Germany and other governments have helped turn the the fight against antisemitism into quashing criticism of Israel, using the ill-advised IHRA definition. This enabled a hostile takeover of that fight by the growing far right. Now it blows up in their face.

Taking the EU-Israel Association Council seriously - my post on how Israel promptly did the very opposite of what the EU pleaded for + what the EU can do about it https://eumep.org/blog/taking-eu-israel-association-council-seriously/

Less than a week ago at EU-Israel Association Council, EU called on Israel to allow unimpeded aid to Gaza. It also called for respect of Syria’s sovereignty & territorial integrity. As Israel moves to do the exact opposite, will EU do anything? If not, what was the whole AC for?

Long list of ~30 pressing EU concerns and appeals in the left column. But business as usual on bilateral relations in the right column.
Here's what the EU could do next.🧵
