I finally made the switch from iPhone to Grapheme (completely degoogled)
I miss the ice cubes mastodon app. Running both Tusky and Moshidon right now. I like how Moshidon handles the timeline better, but it doesn't seem to have a quote post feature (Tusky does).
What android mastodon apps are you all running and why did that one win you over?

The coolest thing about the Quilter superblock is that it’s basically a pedal sized amp head that sounds really good. It can power headphones and every cab from a 1x8 to a 4x12. And it slips into the front pocket of your guitar’s gig bag.

Yes, I owned one for a while. Decent clean tones. My main concern for you is that it might not get loud enough for what you need.
The stereo effects are cool. They’re genuine stereo.

You can’t go wrong with a small Orange amp.
Avoid the tiny battery powered amps. They’re pretty much all awful at clean sounds at any reasonable SPL (except the Yamaha THR series).
My personal favorite small amps that can get loud(ish) and sound great clean are the Quilters. They are pretty convincing tube amp emulators, but still all analog/solid state. It sounds to me like you might be happiest with an Aviator Cub. Or pair the Superblock with block dock.

If you like his eponymous albums, you’ll like Vandolah. New Pale Swimmers is a very different feel and vibe. Almost punk in its disdain for “good” recording techniques and anti-pop. Very rough around the edges (intentionally). He was interesting how he had multiple song-writing personas that had very different sensibilities.

Last I heard all his album sales go to his kids (they might be in their 20s now).
He also wrote and published under:
Vandolah
New Pale Swimmers
I had the honor of making the album art for his final Vandolah album.
A good work friend engineered the Sleepy Furnace album.
Mark mostly recorded on his own. Vandolah was his only group project in the past 25 years, I think.

The best song writer I’ve ever personally known (RIP Mark Hutchins) would say that every good song will work well with just a voice and an acoustic guitar. It’s a good indicator that your song writing is on the right track. I think he wrote all of his songs that way, then would build out an arrangement as appropriate for each song.

Yeah, I’ve been eyeing steamdeck and similar hardware, but I know I’ll never use it handheld.
Which is why I snapped up the desktop I did. I don’t think it was priced at current market prices.
2TB SSD
32GB RAM
I forget which Radeon RX 6000 series card it has.
Should perform at least as well as a steamdeck.

Someone at work was selling a decently spec’ed, AMD-based gaming desktop for $700, so I bought it.
I just downloaded and made a bootable USB thumb drive with Cachy on it last night. (And Bazzite, and Mint, and Yunohost).
I have some small form factor PCs, and a couple RPi5s (bought before the AIpocalypse) to try various distros on).
I’ll let you know how it goes.

I think today journalism is pretty much dead.
Almost everything presented as journalism has an element of op ed to it, and/or has a filter of a set of values applied to a story.
The only set of values that is supposed to filter 100% of journalism is a quest for unadulterated truth.
The loss of that quest for truth, paired with the intentional erosion of education has been the foundation for where we are today.

I was a journalism minor in college back in the 1990s back when journalism was a thing. Reporting was supposed to be entirely about facts, presented dispassionately, presented with the most significant/relevant facts first, then getting into finer details as you extend the story.
“Taking a different approach” definitely feels like it has a normalizing spin to it. “Unprecedented” feels more neutral and accurate (to me).

If I could field a #BattleBots team any way I’d like, I’d get Seth Green and Chris Bergoch to sponsor a Wumpus themed team. The bot would be all cute and kind looking. Then we’d get the crowd to chant “juju beans” right before the fight, triggering the Wumpus into a violent frenzy (in the Battlebox).

I love it that Mel starred in Alan Johnson’s remake of Ernst Lubitsch’s “To Be or Not to Be”.

I have used it and it works great, but I have a hard time bringing myself to use a chromium based browser. Google doesn’t need any more help in monopolizing the web. Working for a major etailer, such a huge percentage of browsers use chromium that it makes it harder and harder to justify coding to actual open standards that work on various rendering engines.
It’s why I use Waterfox and Orion (even though Orion isn’t FOSS).

For quality of sound with a battery powered system, the best I’ve heard has been the Mackie Thump Go paired with the new ThumpSub Go subwoofer. These get surprisingly loud, have excellent battery life, and sound outstanding.
The sub has two battery slots so you can hot swap batteries for unlimited play time (assuming you have enough batteries and a way to charge them).

I'm old enough that I remember when 99% of journalists operated by a code of ethics to objectively report the facts of events and talked about the who, what, why, when, and how, and left opinions out of things. Journalism was a respected and well paid profession. Journalism was viewed as a fourth check and balance to the government (to expose any corruption).
