I don't particularly hate, if I got excited about stupidity I would never be calm again, but there is quite a bit of folly here. First, the cost is between $150 and $250, I believe, and to spend that much is not terribly reasonable. You might as well just light the money on fire if you want, at least you might get warm by it. Secondly, it's like having a sign up "I'm a target, go for it". It's become a kind of sport, at least in the UK, to grab peoples' phones out of their hands on a scooter. If I suddenly took over Fagin's job, I would tell my workers to look out for these and follow whoever had them, assuming these things are visible which, since this is Apple, is a good guess.

It certainly matters to me whether I pay for it. I'm not voting at all, just deciding what to do with my money. I have nothing to say about what @npub17uu…sgfd is doing. Finally, I never said, and actually don't believe, that it's acceptable for someone to get an ongoing income by taking advantage of peoples' needs without providing a service. What I was saying was that it was a fact about the world, these people are no more, and no less, greedy than any other business. Calling them greedy is a waste of energy/time and just expresses emotion for no reason.

I'm confused. I never spoke about hacking a company at all. I said absolutely nothing about that. What I did say was that the only reasonable thing to do is not to call them greedy, but just to say "I'm not paying". you say "why find a way to stop paying". I don't plan to stop paying because I really don't plan to start. As I said, if the price is more than, say, $30 a year, I'm not interested. I'm leaning towards the upper limit being $25, despite the fact that I really need this synth to use Android. That's not only reasonable, it's the only reasonable thing to do. I'm not interested in hacking apps myself, but that has nothing to do with greed or lack thereof. All I'm saying is that the company is behaving as normal. Because they can. You've paid them because it's worth it to you. It wouldn't, as I said, be worth it to me, but who cares about me? They want to eat. Again, they're a business. The whole point of business is to make money. There is no other reason for them or any other business to exist. Again, I will probably be lining up to be ripped off because I must, but there's nothing special in that.

why? They're a company. Their purpose for existence, the only reason they exist, is to make money. That's what they're for. I mean I'm always a bit confused when people say companies are greedy, it's like saying the pope is Catholic. They believe they can make more by setting the subscription at a particular price. If they're wrong, the market won't support it. If they're right, then they're right. Note that I'm probably going to be one of the people paying, though I won't like it, so I do have a dog in this fight, but that doesn't effect the situation. Companies will charge what they can get away with. I have cancelled stuff when the price gets too high, only recently, in fact. If the price is over, say, $50 a year, I won't pay it for sure. If it's over $20, I may not pay it, it's just not worth it to me though Eloquence is the only TTS I can use.
