If you claim something you shoud explain it. You claim monero is inferior to bitcoin in every way. Also you say you are not interested in monero. I don't understand this. Are you not interested because you researched it and came to the conclusion it was inferior. Then it would be very easy to share your arguments as you have them ready. Else you have other (conflicting) interests. Like: i earn my money by helping people become more private on bitcoin. If they would switch it would hurt you or something like that.

I understand that monero is private by design, which is an advantage compared to bitcoin.
So how does it compare security wise to bitcoin? I thought there was a mining attack on monero a few months ago. And what about the on-chain transaction throughput?. Bitcoin can't even sustain a small village economy. How is monero doing in this regard?

It is not speculation. It already happens as some of the miningpools show compliance to the american government. Look at https://mempool.space/nl/mining you can see that around 75% of the blocks are mined by 5 miningpools. In those pools are thousands of miners worldwide, but only 5 miningpool coordinators who built the blocks with transactions. So the CIA has to visit 5 people to censor bitcoin. That is not a lot of work for them, can be done in one day. Already one or two of these miningpools signalled compliance to the american government (I think it is foundry). Maybe the CIA told the others not to signal it publicly. Anyway you probably have still 25% of the miners/pools who are willing to process blacklisted addresses. But then you have to wait 40 minutes instead of 10 minutes. The real shit hits the fan when the regulators force the compliant miningpools not to built on blocks that did proces blacklisted addresses. Your confirmed transaction is still blocked and erased from the mainchain. But I suppose this scenario will only happen if bitcoin is so mainstream and entangled with the real economy that it will incure Hugh cost for society to switch to another system.

@kylehuber. No I mean it is overrated. What I am saying is that bitcoin might be not so censorship resistant. In other words transactions could be blocked by central powers like mining pool coordinators. Who block transactions from being processed in the blocks that their pools mine, because they follow adreslists that are blacklisted by the american government. So if you are on the blacklist your bitcoin payments will not work.

Ofcourse the amount of labor is important, but the price of a good is determined by the subjective valuation of individuals. The value is not determined by the amount of labor put in it. And that is what the labor theory of value states. I have put so many hours in this product so it must have value. It doesn't work like that. But central planners decide to produce goods with lots of labor and resources and think it has value. It leads to huge misallocation of resources and labor, because in communism you don't have the feedback loop of subjective valuation through the pricing mechanism they don't know what to produce in which amounts. You can not do economic calculations without prices.

Overrated: censorship resistance.
Miner centralization and regulatory capture might already be well established. But maybe the regulators are keeping there powder dry for the really pivotal moments in the future, so everything seems OK for now.

In our country we use the 24 hour clock. I like it but it is not 100% certain. If somebody tells me let's meet at 9 o'clock I still wonder are we going to meet at 9 in the morning or at 21 hours? The system with pm and am is exact and there is no confusion about when to meet.

The transparency of bitcoin transactions makes it non-privat as most people buy bitcoin on KYC exchanges. So a coffee payed with bitcoin becomes a taxable event (capital gains tax). It is essential that not only the behavior of people change, but that private payments are developed for bitcoin for it to become a unit of account. Also the fungibility would improve, preventing bitcoins on a governments blacklist to be censored.

I have this question too. But from the perspective of the dice itself it will tend to be biased to on side of it self. So either it is biased towards the 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 or 6. So those are six bias options. I guess, I am not an expert, that this will reduce your entropy significantly. Let's say you use only one dice that tends towards the side with the number 5 more then the other sides and you throw it 256 times. I think you will throw significantly less combinations, meaning this bias will lead to guessable seeds.
I don't know what will happen to your entropy if you would use 256 different dices. Does 256 biased dices lower your entropy? Probably not if they do not have the exact same bias. But maybe an expert can answer this question.

He could not have fixed it for seeds already created. But to let people continue create weak seeds is just pure evil. Are you saying he could not have upgraded the firmware without exposing the 'bug'. I think he could have done it 'silently'. Or he could have launched a new product line with new code and stop selling the corrupt devices. But he didn't. So this looks intentional.

Well there is another possibility: Israel and the US are under the control of the money creating banking elites. By merging the US and Israeli military the parasitic banking elite may use Israel to move from one host to another host. So they will move from the US (federal reserve creates the dollar reserve currency) to China (yuan becomes the reserve currency of the world). Assuming that the Chinese central bank is not under the control of the western banking elites, then why would the Chinese give the western banking elite a significant/controlling share in the Chinese central bank? Well the western banking elites can destroy their host (the US) by:
1. Nuking the American economy and
2. Guaranting the Chinese total victory in a war by leaking all military secrets of the american military through Israel.

I think this is good advice if you have never done it before.
But afterwards it is probably best practice when you set up a new wallet to write down the seed words. To write down the first btc receive address. Delete the wallet and recover the wallet and check if the first generated receive address is the same as the one you wrote down the fist time.
If it matches bravo,you have recovered the same wallet and are ready to fund it.
This way you don't need to use a separate device, which could be a new attack surface.

Yes that would be a solution. It is the logical outcome of the fiat system. On paper the land is yours. But with a debt on it who is the real owner? You have to pay the money creators to use your own land, because actually it is theirs. The government enables this by asking for the inheritance tax.

The wars are the costs and the millions of death are the sacrifices to uphold the fiat monetary system. Compare that to the costs of upholding a system like bitcoin (and then they complain about how much energy mining costs). It is unimaginably cheaper in direct financial costs. The indirect costs, the immense suffering, I am not even putting a number on it. If you still think American actions and wars in the middle east or elsewhere are for the interest of the American people you don't understand fiat money/reserve currency status and you don't know which problem bitcoin solves (so I guess I am a little disappointed with Aarons analysis of the CIA/mossad orchestrated protests). I don't like the Iran regime. But it's their country and it would be very naive to think American intervention is to liberate the Iranian people. The freedom loving Iranians are brutely used by the American empire to push their own interest. That is to uphold the fiat reserve currency status. Even if the war was successful in getting a 'American' friendly regime and Iranian girls would be walking in modern mini skirts (I have no problem with modern clothing), it would still be walking in a mini skirt as a debt slave in an American fiat world. The optics of freedom is not the same as being a real free sovereign.

So the real question is who are the slave masters and who are the slaves?
I'll answer myself:
The slave master : the private owners of the fed
The slaves: the taxpayers
What is the government then? Just the collection mechanism for the slave masters.
So even the strongest country in the world is not sovereign (USA). There is a higher power.
If the united States would print its own money it would become sovereign again. Still fiat money though (=its bad even if you print it yourself as a sovereign nation). better if it would introduce sound money (gold, bitcoin) it would be sovereign and moral and honest. Being an example and light for the whole world and humankind.

I assume that locking requires a hardfork. For a hardfork consensus is needed. So the question is do we want to reach consensus on a certain topic or not? What makes this topic so important that it requires a protocol change? What is the concern here? That concern is that the satoshi coins are added to the active supply. What is wrong with that?
So let me try to find some arguments:
a) the new owner becomes a mega whale with the power to move the market.
We could categorize the new owner in two groups:
1) using its wealth to harm bitcoin
2) using its wealth not to harm bitcoin
ad 1) the new owner uses its wealth to harm bitcoin (some representative from the legacy financial system). It could do this by dumping the coins on the market. Crashing the price and causing a panic and thereby undermining trust in bitcoin.
I would think this would be a short term effect and eventually bitcoin will survive this. Giving a lifetime opportunity for more people to get in. I don't know if there are long term strategies that the new owner could use. If bitcoin can not survive this, it would mean it is not sound money and we have to do better.
ad 2) the new owner can use its new wealth to self enrich and live a luxurious lifestyle. I imagine that this would not lead to significant dumping. Or the new owner will be significantly investing for its benefit or the benefit of society. If this investing is done in btc it would be great for bitcoin and the bitcoin economy. If it is done in fiat it is still great.
So I don't see why this topic is that important that it requires a new consensus.

You don't understand. There was an imminent thread. The iranians were going to attack us-bases if attacked by israel. So trump was not lying, but he could have asked the israeli's not to attack. Let's say you have a capital loss in 2029. You can compensate in 2030. So capital loss in 2029 is for example € 60 000. You pay zero tax in 2029 ( no tax return on loss). Capital gain in 2030 is € 80 000. Taxable amount in 2030 will be € 20 000 (=€80 000 - €60 000). So payable tax 2030 is 36% of € 20 000. So losses can be compensated in future years, but not backwards.

Hi good job, but the title should be broader.
If you want to criticise fiat money, why not point out all that is in contradiction with islam:
1 interest: every fiat money is born out of lending with interest.
2 measures and weights: by inflating the money supply the measure of mobey is manipulated.
Ad 1. No comment, as this is the subject of the book.
Ad 2. This is a way bigger issue then interest. As manipulating measures and weights is equal to stealing. Creating fiat money out of 'nothing' inflates the money supply. As money is a measure for price, inflating the money supply distorts this measurement as opposed to sound money systems (gold, bitcoin). Purchasing power of savers is tranferred to borrrowers. Although borrowers have an advantage, ultimately everyone becomes a (debt) slave to the fiat money system.
A lot to say but i will stop here.

Excellent post. So the next logical step for governments is to issue debt free money themselves. This would be better, but still a fiat monetary system. Although i don't believe this is your intention, but your post seems to suggest that debt free money issued by the government is the way to go. Which is not the way in my opinion. The way to go is hard sound money and not fiat money.
Any form of hard sound money (bitcoin, gold) is the way to go...
